A Blog About Nothing

I've often referred to Jeff as the "best blogger in the world". That's only because Jager doesn't keep up the kind of posting frequency needed to really put him over the top;

I am a fairly simple minded kind of guy, and as such there are things I can never get my mind around. I want to experience what others think is fun, like roller coasters, and what others think is good, like pie, and what others think is cool, like the mullet, but I just can’t see myself paying to be spanked.

A blog about nothing is actually quite something - a place to go and put your mind on the shelf after digesting the stuff that seems to make up reality these days. The surreal has become the real, and the surreal is now therapeutic.
It also serves to remind me that I haven't found a cure for my pretentiousness, yet. Enjoy!

If you want another blog that is REALLY about nothing check this one out:

Jager probably could write a book on belly button lint. sort of reminds me of George Carlin's musings, you know, things that make you go mmmm.

Texas Canuck- George Carlin's musings...or Roger Abbott of The Royal Canadian Air Farce as The Confused Philosopher.

Excellent topic, the best one so far!

No sarcasm intended whatsoever, you've hit the nut and the nerve of the blogosphere.

Why read the blog when you can read the book instead?

Posted by: Plato's Stepchild at July 12, 2006 1:08 PM

Actually, I believe there's plenty of blogs about nothing out there. I could name a few bloggers who're about nothing right off the bat.

In fact, I consider most MSM outlets to be pretty much like blogs about nothing. So full of irrelevant fluff I just tune out much of the MSM newscasts and just browse the newer, more serious news sites, news aggregator sites and a number of blogs for stuff that matters.

There is no such thing as NOTHING.

Posted by: Me No Dhimmi at July 12, 2006 2:24 PM

I'm reminded about a startling observation I once made about "health food" stores. Has everyone noticed that you pay incrementally MORE for each EXCLUDED ingredient.

Good point, MND. Even nothing is something.

But try to explain that to nihilistic moonbats. Isn't it funny that they say that they're nihilists while denying anything exists... failing to realize that a nihilist is something... for denial of anything requires something to perform the denial, and that would be a nihilist. Therefore nihilists are idiots. And idiots are something. Therefore there's no "nothing".

Perhaps a better word than nothing would therefore be perhaps "irrelevant" or "unimportant", which aptly describes much of the content of the MSM and most liblogs.

Oh, and apologies to Kate for posting a comment about nothing. Heh.

Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at July 12, 2006 3:23 PM

Nihilism is not the belief that nothing exists.

1. total rejection of social mores: the general rejection of established social conventions and beliefs, especially of morality and religion

2. belief that nothing is worthwhile: a belief that life is pointless and human values are worthless

3. disbelief in objective truth: the belief that there is no objective basis for truth

4. belief in destruction of authority: the belief that all established authority is corrupt and must be destroyed in order to rebuild a just society

5. Russian political movement: a political movement in late 19th-century Russia that sought to bring about a socially just new society by destroying the existing one through acts of terrorism and assassination

(And no, I am not a nihilist.)

Posted by: Leftist at July 12, 2006 6:22 PM

Really? But the following apply to leftists also:

1), 3) (though they believe they know the objective truth, while really they don't, 4) (just watch them dismantle the traditions and institutions of Canadian society and replace them with politically-correct fascism, and, indirectly, 5) (for the left's Dhimmitude).

And to address one of the "nothing" topics, I wouldn't pay to be "spanked", either. If I liked getting spanked, which I don't, I wouldn't pay anyone to do it to me. After all, there're plenty of sick freaks out there who'll gladly do it for free to anyone!

And isn't there some kind of spanking machine one can get at a local naughty shop? Surely someone invented a spanking machine?

Pls, excuse. Sometimes I like to blurt out nonconservative stuff just to get the devil out of my system.

Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at July 12, 2006 7:36 PM the biggest blog laugh one could ever hope well as being the most insightful.

I've often chided Jeff for ripping off Classic National Lampoon writers like Michael O'Donoghue and P.J. O'Rourke...but I have since realized he is not Jeff O'Goldstein...while on the same page as the NL boys...he numbers it differently.

No offense Kate but his is the best blog on the web...any competition soon appears as simple to destroy as shooting "Frisch" in a shallow barrel...easy and ugly.
