Derek Lowe;

When we hold up Erlenmeyer flasks to eye level to see the future of research in them, which we try not to do too often because we usually don't want to know, rarely is this accompanied by an eerie red light coming from the general direction of our pockets. It's a bad sign when that happens, actually.

Then again....

"Is it the spotlight right after YearlyKos that's leading to this infestation of crazy within the so-called reality-based community, or have they been this bad all along?

They've been this bad all along. I think the frustration arising from watching from the virtual sidelines as the right side of the blogosphere gains traction in the mainstream has just pushed them to become more strident - and people are noticing. And it looks good on them, I might add.

At a church in Washington, hundreds of committed Christians met recently and tried to map out a strategy to get their values into the political debate. But these are not the conservative Christian values which have been so influential lately. This is the religious left. "Jesus called us to love our neighbor, love our enemy, care for the poor, care for the outcast, and that's really the moral core of where we think the nation ought to go," Dr. Bob Edgar, General Secretary of the National Council of Churches told CBS News correspondent Russ Mitchell. maz2,

The so-called National Council of Churches is nothing more than another socialist/activist front organisation. They pick and choose what they want out of the Bible in order to support their perverted and extremist ideology. Canada's version of this is the United 'Church' - which in around 1967 officially denied that Christ rose from the dead; denied his miracles; denied that he was born of a virgin; etc. None of these organisations stand for anything other than secular humanism. Scientology is probably more Christian.

Great comments and links above (except the WP they're as bad as cbc, ctv-spit) thanks Kate and all.

I have a question that's been bothering me in the last week or so and wanted to ask the readers here to see if I'm off base or what. Sorry for being somewhat O/T, but it's been bugging me.

Twice in the last week, I've turned on CTV-National evening news, with Lloyd and Lisa BOTH time they featured the Israeli flag backwards and instead of using blue they use a dark red, like blood red, while the Palestinian flag is shown properly. These both times were while discussing how the poor palis are fairing under the heavy handedness of Israelis {I"m using their lie-speak in italics here}. What's up with this? They NEVER ever, mention the numerous rocket attacks on the Jews by the palis though...

I despise the media here, I thankfully have turned a few people off of even bothering to watch them anymore, seriously it's my little way of fighting back.

Maurice Strong and Saddam and $$$$$$$$$$$$

Excerpt:

Under direct questioning, she then described in detail two sets of transactions that took place in 1997 (both apparently the same transactions discussed in far less detail in the Sept. 7, 2005 report by Paul Volcker's probe into Oil-for-Food).

The first, according to Azzouni's testimony, took place on July 30, 1997, when a man with an Iraqi passport, Hammam Rashid Humaym, came into her branch bank, opened an account in his own name and deposited into it "$991,000 American dollars." That same day, Humaym had issued from the account a check made out to "Mr. M. Strong." (This appears to have been the Jordanian bank check that Volcker alleges was delivered to Maurice Strong in New York the following week, who endorsed it over to a business associate Theodore Kheel — who deposited it on August 5, 1997. Strong told the Volcker committee he did not know that the funds might have come from Iraq, and said he regarded the check as payment for an investment Park wished to make in a Strong family company. Strong was working at the time with the rank of Under-Secretary-General as chief architect for Secretary-General Kofi Annan's 1997 reforms at the U.N.).

In opening the account, Humaym provided a phone number, 614191, testified Azzouni, which was the same phone number provided by Park, when less than two months later he walked into Azzouni's bank branch and opened an account under the name T.S. Park. The government showed the jury copies of bank documents with the matching phone numbers, and relevant names and signatures. Azzouni further testified that having deposited $700,000 in cash, on Sept. 14, 1997, Park returned to her bank office later that same day, and had four checks issued on his new account. The jury was shown bank documentation for all four checks:

Terror laws racist: Lawyer -White groups ignored, court told
By IAN MCDOUGALL,

BRAMPTON -- Canada's anti-terror legislation is discriminatory because it focuses solely on Muslim and "brown" organizations, lawyer Rocco Galati charged yesterday in a courtroom here.

The legislation is unfair because it fails to list "white" groups, like the Ku Klux Klan, in an index of organizations considered by Ottawa to have terrorist links, Galati said.

"There are no white groups listed in the anti-terrorist legislation," he said, adding "brown and Muslim, that's the legislation right now.

18 ARRESTED
"In five years, 18 people have been charged," he said. "Little surprise they're all Muslims."
Galati was arguing in front of Justice Bruce Durno why his client, Ahmad Ghany, should have his bail hearing in front of a Superior Court Justice instead of a justice of the peace. Ghany was one of 18 arrested in last month's counterterrorism raids.

Al Qaeda goes to ground in Montreal

By Judi McLeod & Beryl Wajsman - Canada Free Press
Monday, July 10, 2006

Assem Hammoud, ringleader of the alleged terrorist plot to bomb tunnels in New York, may have done the free world an unintended favour. Hammoud, albeit unwittingly drew cleansing sunlight on a rarely reported fact of life: Montreal, Quebec, Canada is a hub of activity for al Qaida and other Islamist groups--and has been so since the early 1990s.

Mentioned only in passing in a Canadian Press (CP) report on terror suspect Assem Hammoud, CP stated that Montreal is "a known hub of al Qaida activity dating back to the 1990s". (Terror plot suspect attended university in Montréal: official, Jim Bronskill and Bill Graveland, CP 08/07/06).

"Montreal is the leading centre for Islamist and Jihadists groups in North America, many inspired by or with ties to al Qaida," says Beryl Wajsman. "In total, with dozens of cells, Montreal has the largest number of such groups in any city in North America, not on a per capita basis but in gross numbers."
...
Meanwhile, when former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien said there were no terrorists in Canada, he was wrong.

There are plenty of terrorists in Canada, most of them in Montreal.

Beryl Wajsman is president of the Institute for Public Affairs of Montreal; publisher of BARRICADES Magazine; and host of 940AM’s "The Last Angry Man"

Bones found at Prescott site point to native burial ground Town

By DEREK ABMA

Staff Writer

PRESCOTT -- Talks between the Town of Prescott and the Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs will determine what to do with 200-year-old human bones found last month near the north-end site where the new OPP station is being built.

"We are aware that what we are dealing with is a native burial site," Robert Haller, Prescott's chief administrative officer, said in an interview Tuesday.

Talks between the town and Mohawks will determine what to do with the area where the bones were found.

Haller said the site is likely to be preserved, but not in any high-profile manner that attracts crowds.

"We haven't even begun negotiations yet, but I think that would be (the Mohawks') first preference," he said.

Construction has gradually returned to normal over the past week at the Development Drive construction site, where work stopped because of human remains found nearby in early June.

After an initial police investigation, the findings were deemed at least 200 years old and it was no longer considered a criminal matter.

The remains were found in a pile of soil near where the OPP station is being built. That soil was being used in that station's construction. ...-
