Terrorist Threat To Behead Prime MInister

I wonder if Tim Naumetz plans to revisit his Harper=Bush hit piece of May 22;

The SUV surfaced two weeks ago behind the armoured limousine, and a lead car, that ferries Harper about town. The motorcade takes Harper even from his Langevin Building office across Wellington Street to his Centre Block space on Parliament Hill.

The drivers are armed RCMP officers, but the addition of the SUV makes the entire motorcade look like a Secret Service operation.

Bush has had black SUVs in his motorcade for several years.

The 320-horsepower V8 Chevrolet Tahoe now embedded in Harper's parade is made in the U.S. GM Canada truck plants assemble Silverado pickups.

As has been said of the SUVs in Bush's procession, the new black wheels add an air of intimidation to Harper's motorcade.

"It looks like something Darth Vader would be driving," says Martin. "We've got this gas-guzzling behemoth touring around with the prime minister. It looks tough, it looks quasi-military. Is that the kind of image the prime minister wants to project?"

Well, all things considered....

Where would it get Harper to look like a Boy Scout. We are at war; deal with it!

Posted by: Gunney99 at June 7, 2006 12:56 AM

The NDP might also want to rethink this line of questioning:

Hon. Jack Layton (Toronto—Danforth, NDP): ... Yesterday the Prime Minister was lecturing us about how pollution was not the same as climate change. Really? Is that so? Could the Prime Minister stand in his place and explain the difference between climate change and pollution and how his new fleet of SUVs helps deal with either one of them?

Right Hon. Stephen Harper (Prime Minister, CPC): Mr. Speaker, I can explain the difference. The climate change agenda is principally about carbon dioxide, which is not a pollutant. The government is also concerned with pollutants such as nitrous oxides, sulphur dioxides and other organic compounds. There are differences and that is the difference.

In terms of the particular security arrangements the RCMP uses, that is its decision, not mine.

If this really is an NDP budget proposal, people will be wondering why this government voted for it and why the NDP voted against it.

Image, it's all about image with these lib/left jerks. As long as it looks good, sounds good and they feel good it's OK. I guess the Prime Minister should ride around in a piss pot volvo or the peoples car, van version.

In their delirious fever pitch to make anything that Harper does/says appear Bush-like, lefties will overlook any type of common-sense reasoning. Oh, but that's because there was no common-sense in government for the last 12 years and I guess that's what they're used to.

Can you imagine the quivering and the dithering Paul Martin would be doing right now if he was the one on the beheading hit list? He would probably hold a news conference wearing a veil.

Hey the military got their Nyala personnel carriers; why shouldn't PMSH have a beefed up SUV?

Wouldn't want the cut throats to have a run at him.

Good for Harper. Here is a man that understands what being a leader is about.

This is a serious period in our history & he ought to be projecting this . No strike that. Has to be a symbol of our resolve to end this world menace. After all. I think of black ,as a somber color reminding us of better men & women than us, dying for us, to yammer away in the freedom we do.

Paul martin would no doubt be driving one of those hybrid peddle pusher cars. You know the ones, where midgets feel cluster phobia? That or a bright cherry red Hummer, denoting his mob affiliation. The Liberano clan.

Steve, you mean like the teenage bravado types in the ME? or the London subway bombings? or the ones in Spain? or the ones in..... Oh the h3ll with it. You wouldn't recognize a real threat if it jumped up and bit you in the ass.

The mob drives cherry red Hummers now????

Egads. I thought they still drove those huge black caddies. You know - like the one Martin made his last official appearance in, before turning over the reigns to SH.

I guess even the mob doesn't want to be associated with the Libs any more, so they changed their vehicles to red Hummers. ;)

Here's an article on the international connections to the Toronto terrorists.
from: timesonline.co.uk

An e-mail trail has led to the arrest of suspects across the world who were recruited and then schooled in bombmaking

The article includes this:

"The arrest of 17 suspects, many of them teenagers, picked up in the suburbs of Toronto at the weekend is said to be the latest stage in dismantling a terrorist nexus that, worryingly, has its links with one of the world’s most wanted men — Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq."

Douglas said: "Jack would ride in what....? Black Pinto's, Black Chevette's or Black Helicopters?"

Jim replies: Hey! I used to own a Black Pinto. (I now own a blue one).

It was a 1972 Pinto Station Wagon that I had painted black. It also had a set of F60/14" tires on the back, a header and a 4 barrel carb, and used to eat 289 Ford Galaxies.

The thought of Waco Jacko riding in a black Pinto just gives me the willies....

A non-issue.

We live in the world and it is indeed a small world after all.

But it's not the small world that fits the insular notions and nostrums too many Canadians.

The Prime Minister has to be properly protected according to the assessed level of threat.

To do otherwise would be gross negligence on the part of his security minders.

Just bravado, steve d is sooooooo much smarter than we are and we should he should bend over so we can all kiss his politically correct and open minded ass.

Work with me here folks, I am trying to help him in his period of political anxiety . . . its gotta be very hard on the moonbats to have a real government in Ottawa doing real things for real people. So unlike the national constipational legacy of Trudeaupia.

Well I guess the reason for the SUV in the motorcade is clearly evident now eh? Pat Martin of the NDP should be embarrassed today. He raised the issue in Question Period the other day in an effort to embarrass the prime minister. Typical socialists! However, it is evident of a more serious issue and that is Mr. Harper, despite having a minority government, is having success in his policies and his appeal with the public. This is causing all kinds of concern within the opposition parties and they will grasp any straw, real or imagined, to distract Canadians from the fact that we have a real government instituting policies and making decisions for the benefit of all Canadians.

Posted by: Helen at June 7, 2006 9:40 AM

Well, I would much rather see PMSH being protected with Black SUV's then our tax dollars disappearing in to the Liberal's piggy banks. I think that this terrorist threat against Parliment Hill really rattled Lib's and NDP. Did anyone notice the fact that the Speaker of the House called three times regarding the budget bill and no one from either party got up to speak in opposition. Bill passed unchallenged. Lib's and NDP asleep at the wheel. Thank goodness that we have PMSH as a leader or who really knows if this plot would have been uncovered. Pat Martin is such a tool!

I still think Harper should strap that flying wing to his back and fly himself around town.

Maybe a SUV Act should be tabled in the Legislature or it could be an ammendment to the Accountability Act.

In either case this is the dumbest post I've ever seen at SDA.

This isn't journalism, it's little kids in a sandbox mouthing off.

BTW, remember when St. Jean Chretien used the military budget to purchase a new jet for the Liberal politicians to romp around in? Bet it cost substantially more than an SUV.

Tim Naumetz'confession, "I'm not a journalist", merely confirms what we already knew. Most "journalists" in Canada act more like the neighbourhood gossip.

Mr. Harper, if you want to drive around in an Abrams, that's okay by me.

DEWSBURY, England

Police in Britain arrested a 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old youth as terrorist suspects, and were conducting searches at three locations, authorities said Wednesday.

The man, who was identified only as a resident of Bradford, northern England, was arrested Tuesday night at Manchester airport, West Yorkshire Police said. Officers searched three houses in Bradford in connection with the arrest, police said.

The police later said detectives also had arrested a 16-year-old in Dewsbury, near Bradford, as part of the same investigation.

Police refused to comment on reports by the British Broadcasting Corp. that the arrests were linked to an alleged terrorist plot in Canada. Seventeen people were arrested there .

Excerpt:

It is facile and intellectually dishonest to blame the West for all that ails many Muslim nations. The residue of colonialism — Afghanistan, for one, was never colonized — is not what's created autocratic regimes in very nearly all those countries, or impoverished their people.

Yet perpetrators of global jihad insist on waging a phony war and taking it to the West. No longer is it even necessary to groom a murderous infantry of homicide and suicide bombers by luring them first to terrorist training grounds in failed states and lawless regions along the Pakistan border or the Sudan. The Internet brings recruiters right into the bedrooms of Toronto teenagers, including teens living in nice suburban houses.

Blame is self-defeating and, frankly, impossible to quantify. But it surely doesn't promote reasonableness, nor respect among communities, to lead lives of social isolation, with its implied moral superiority, as appears to have been the case with many of the accused and their families.

So far, that seems the only common denominator, from what little we know of these individuals, apart from a devoutness of faith. They may not be guilty of terrorism-related crimes — that will be determined by our courts — but they were, from all indications, secluded in a kind of cultural quarantine. And, apparently, they found kinship in like-minded — or wrong-minded — zealots.

Perhaps such ideological ciphers as those young men who bombed the London transit system last July are predisposed to recruitment by jihadist predators, in their vulnerability of character and certainty of extremist views.

Maybe, as with so many who embrace an absolutist crusade — one that promises a closeness to God by way of horrific violence — they are little more than hapless victims of brainwashing, guided missiles of lethality.

But just as it takes a village to raise a child, it can take the absence of a village — segregation from a diverse community — to raise a terrorist. ...http://www.paulding.net/bin/url.cgi/13306.8

Briton wanted over Canada bomb plot arrested at Manchester airport
By Daniel McGrory, Andrew Norfolk and Michael Evans
A BRITON said to be a key figure in an alleged plot to bomb public buildings in Canada, including the Parliament, was arrested by counter-terrorist police as he stepped off a plane at Manchester airport.

The 21-year-old man had arrived from Canada, where security services claimed that he had been living alongside some of the 17 terror suspects arrested in Toronto at the weekend in one of the biggest operations in North America. Hours later police in West Yorkshire arrested a 16-year-old youth after documents and mobile phone records seized in Canada revealed a British link to the alleged gang of Muslim militants operating from their homes in the Toronto suburbs. ...
The Canadians are expected to start extradition proceedings. ....
The suspect was born in Pakistan but is believed to have British citizenship and lived at a number of addresses in Dewsbury, the home town of Mohammad Sidique Khan, the leader of the July 7 suicide bombers. He is understood to have spent much of this year living in Toronto. ...

The sources said that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police had uncovered the British connection to the alleged plot and put out an immediate alert when they discovered that one of the main suspects was leaving the country. ...

Just found this blog and will be returning. Not sure if you have had an inside view so here goes without too much detail... We (yes I said we) drive the Tahoe (we also have a Suburban) because it makes an ideal rear security vehicle. Great visibility and yes it is intimidating. Easy to get in and out of. Useful to carry equipment and much more effective than a car were there to be an incident. The choice is strictly operational and we are very pleased with the performance of the Tahoe and Suburban behind the limo in the motorcade.
