What's He Up To?

Mu'ammar Qadhafi has never struck me as being particularly devout. In this interview with Al Jazeera though, he shares his thoughts on theology, the Danish cartoons and the future of Europe. It's "rah-rah Islam" from beginning to end;

Mu'ammar Al-Qadhafi: "Some people believe that Muhammad is the prophet of the Arabs or Muslims alone. This is a mistake. Muhammad is the prophet of all people."

[…]

"He superseded all previous religions. If Jesus were alive when Muhammad was sent, he would have followed him. All people must be Muslims."

[...]

"We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe - without swords, without guns, without conquests. The fifty million Muslims of Europe will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.

[...]

"Europe is in a predicament, and so is America. They should agree to become Islamic in the course of time, or else declare war on the Muslims."

Qadhafi is playing here to a domestic audience - is he concerned that Libya's recent capitulation to the west may have placed his military dictatorship on the "to do" list of Islamists?

I decided to ask Michael Totten privately about this, and his response points to a book by Judith Miller, written in the 1980's.

It's hard to say why that guy does what he does and says what he says. Libya is one of the most opaque countries in the world. That said, I think your assumption is probably the best one. He is very afraid of lslamists.

I know Judith Miller is persona-non-grata right now with pretty much everyone, but she wrote a fascinating 50-page essay about Libya and Uncle Moammar in her book "God Has 99 Names." He told her, back when Clinton was president, that he was desperately trying to get Clinton to "save the world" from the Islamists. It makes for fascinating pre-911 reading.

As I said, Qadhafi has never struck me as devout.

Are we listening?

He is saying what all the Islamist Imperialists are saying. Convert or die.

From the mouth of the "daffy" one.....immigration Jihad and forced conversion through numbers and the democratic systems of the Euro host nation.

Dare we say it?

Time for meaningful citizenship oaths which denounce Jihad and forced conversion and "trial" citizenship periods with deportation as a default.

Sign me up for option number two.

Regarding Muslims in Europe, I am afraid that he is correct. Rather then being concerned about their plummeting birth rate, Europeans seem to be more preoccupied with "important issues" like giving human rights to apes.

Also concerning "Qadhafi has never struck me as being particularly devout" - I spent sometime in Africa, and have heard quite the opposite. In fact, at one time, he envisioned Africa as being one large Muslim continent, where of course, he is the leader.

This type of 'utopian universalism' will always be with us. Communism was viewed in this way. So was fascism. And now, we have a religious fascism - Islamofascism.

Homogeneous systems can't ever work. Making everything and everyone 'all alike' can't work. It's a fact of physical, of biological reality, and of social reality - that life is based around differences. Small to large differences - but - without differences - we are reduced to a bowl of jello. Frozen. Unable to change.

But, the utopian ideal of homogeneity, for some reason, is very attractive to many (the left).

Yes but that was to accomodate the integration of Muslims was it not?

More futile appeasement.

So, it's happening! By guns & bombs and by more "quiet" means. Muslims are wanting to be the ONLY voice heard world wide. While our left wing, brain dead, do-gooders are preaching "tolerance" to us the muslims have shifted their "holy war" into high gear on all fronts. They are "tolerant" of NO ONE that gets in their way! WONDERFULL!! What are we poor souls to do? The horse is out, can't close the barn door now! The only way to save ourselves is by putting up a strong UNITED front, which leaves the UN out! I blame the world's problems half on the "politically correct" idiots that don't know if their asses have been punched, bored or clawed out by a cougar and the other half on the useless UN which is about as dependable as an ndp promise!! Trouble is, ... the problem is here NOW. What do we do about it?
Suggestions...?

What is the point in converting to Islam. It certainly doesn't give any kind of impunity, as the death tole in the Middle East underscores.
Religion is simply an ideology that is being used by those seeking power (as they would use any other modality to further their ends).

My suggestion :

Circle the wagons, praise the lord, and pass the ammunition.

I can't wait for us all to become Muslim ... then my wife will have to do what I tell her.

Deportation.

If the Harper government logically follows through on the precedent they've established by deporting the Portugese - it's time to deport the 30-40,000 illegal muslims in Canada. They won't be able to claim racism and the signal sent out to the remainder might be strong enough to keep them in check. If not, deport them all.

"Muhammad is the prophet of all."

They believe that everybody is born a Muslim. The logical conclusion to that belief is that infidels are actually apostates - and we all know what the penalty for that is.

Sez a mullah on an Islamic site for women:

"It's highly recommended if not mandatory that you never leave your children alone with adult (Muslim) men. Young boys are never to be left alone with men."

themodernreligion.com/women/ w harrassmuslims sis.htm

Nice. According to the site, this is a major problem for Muslim women throughout the world (including North America).

The arabic word for black and slave is the same: Abed.

Why don't black people understand this?

When it comes to Western resolve, I'm haunted by conspiracy theories or non-fiction books like Crighten's (not Michael) "Operation J.B.", where he alledges as a former MI-5 operative that FDR knew through Churchill well in advance of the Pearl Harbor attack but let it happen to raise support for entering the War.

9/11 almost did the trick so now I'm thinking it will likely take a detonated Iranian Nuke to inspire the necessary resolve. Of course, that means going nuclear in response. A lot of desert will be turned into glass. Billions of people will vapourize or starve in the aftermath.

Or, we could all convert to the "religion of peace".

Or, the least likely alternative, that the West emerges from it's PC fog and draws lines in the sand - various forms of non-Islamic firewalls. This would likely involve various forms of civil and "conventional" warfare at its worst and state enforced enshrined limits on Sharia influence at best, definately an end to multiculturalism.

Civil liberties were great while we were at peace. Too bad the world slept!

Duke: "I can't wait for us all to become Muslim ... then my wife will have to do what I tell her."

One wife? Heck I can't wait to have at least 4 of them.

Posted by: Funkmeister at May 2, 2006 12:13 PM

Even with Islamic law, who in their right mind wants to deal with more than one wife?

Sounds like punishment to me. All those fool "martyrs" that think 72 virgins is paradise obviously haven't been out much...

Posted by: Warwick at May 2, 2006 12:34 PM

Regarding 72 virgins in the hereafter for marytrs, there is some who believe that the Koran is being misinterpreted and that in fact the correct translation yields "72 plump white raisins" of "crystal clarity" are awaiting them in heaven.

Boy what a suprise that would be for those poor marytrs!

Are we experiencing a reformation of sorts? I hope not; nobody argues the Christian Reformation was a tolerant era. So there is only one alternative to capitulation? War. I Qadhafi really saying anything different than bin Laden or scores of other Islamist. The issue is capability. They don't have it now, but can change the rules with WMD, and move this conflict to a strategic, worldwide phase. BTW, God help Europe WRT Muslim demographics. The really galling part here is that, I believe, most Muslims, like Christians, Hindu etal, would rather live in peace, thank you very much. How do madman get such power?

Posted by: Phil at May 2, 2006 12:52 PM

"I think most Muslims...would rather live in peace."

I do too. But it's becoming more evident that their children don't want to.

AdScam Martin cut short his visit. Said he couldn't stand the camel/goat smell. Martin said he prefers the smell of Canadian taxpayers' $$$$$$$ +

[Pic of Martin & Q.]

Martin, Gaddafi meet

Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin said he "put the cards on the table" about such issues as respecting human rights during two meetings Sunday with Libyan strongman Moammar Gaddafi in Tripoli.

Mr. Martin said he and Col. Gaddafi, who met inside an ornate tent, also discussed business opportunities and peace in Africa and the Middle East.

Col. Gaddafi was a study in contrasts -- he wore a flowing brown robe over grey-and-white tailored trousers and calf-length black boots -- as the two leaders met inside the tent on the grounds of a walled compound in the city's centre, while camels and goats grazed nearby.

Mr. Martin described the dictator as a man with a profound sense of history, "who understands that with the changing world, abuse of human rights cannot continue.
...
"I think Col. Gaddafi was extremely open and ready to accommodate concerns by suggesting his officials look into these cases," Mr. McTeague said. "A very significant bridge has been built here, which gives us cause for optimism for future talks."

The Prime Minister also lobbied for increased Canadian business dealings with Libya. He defended the move, saying trade generally opens doors to greater respect for human rights.

Mr. Martin, who cut short his visit by one day so he can attend Monday's funeral for Liberal MP Lawrence O'Brien in Goose Bay, Labrador, also attended a ceremony at which SNC Lavalin signed a $1-billion memorandum of understanding on further work for the Great Man Made River project. +

Kate: what makes the photo of Ghadafi and the girl even more interesting is this:

Photographs on the pageant Web site, www.missnetworld.tv., show the young women laughing with Gadhafi. A series of photos shows U.S. contestant Tecca Zendik, 23, of Los Angeles, crying as Ghadafi tells her how the United States bombed his home.
