Kate:

Notice the theme of the last stories are about dying: Tim Hortons gas can bomb, 8 Bikers etc.

Rule #1 never become a “small dead animal”

Rule #2, never forget rule number #1.

Rule #3 always look at the lawn from the green side, under no circumstances accept a Darwin Award.

Don't read too much into it.

I'm not that deep.

Posted by: Kate at April 10, 2006 8:23 PM

Oh Kate, for shame. You are giving far too much away!!

Posted by: Hans Rupprecht at April 10, 2006 8:27 PM

Sadly, I have been looking for more information about that incident, and I am at the point where I assume sda readers will link me to the most recent articles. The Starphoenix isn't as reliable as I would sometimes wish... I am likely not alone in pushing up the ratings on your site for things like this.

Posted by: cold_candian at April 10, 2006 9:12 PM

Considering the lies and spindoctoring regularly cranked out by our msm- KATE STILL RULES!

Posted by: davie at April 10, 2006 9:26 PM

That's pretty funny. But, maybe you were just the first to use the words in that order. Try "explosion at a Tim Hortons" and you get a different result...although the CTV reference is still #2

Posted by: bryceman at April 10, 2006 9:39 PM

hehehe... you still "float my boat" Kate ;o) Warms the cockles of my non-bleeding heart to see you on top *GRIN*

Posted by: Snookie at April 10, 2006 10:44 PM

Cool.

Another interesting result shown there is that you have to go down several links to get to the first one that even mentions in the headline that it was a self-inflicted immolation and not an explosion that happened to also kill a man. And you're going to hate me for pointing this out but it's from the CBC.

;-)

G'night.

Kate, I was not expecting that! But with you one just never knows!!!! Keep up the good work!
Ted, I'm just so glad that what ever term they (the "media" or "bloggers") used, he only took his life.

Posted by: MaryM at April 10, 2006 10:57 PM

Another interesting result from that search is that your post on the subject was a link and a quote back to the CTV site which is #2 no matter how you word the search criteria. In other words, you could argue, you made them #2!

Posted by: Ted at April 10, 2006 11:03 PM

Kate,
Try CF104 Starfighter on Google, pages from Canada. You are a winner there as well.

My first column of sage advice is for Michael Ignatieff.

Dear Mr. Ignatieff:

My advice to you is to stop talking and writing big, complicated articles about the use of torture and the moral dilemma it poses for democracies confronting global terrorism. Don't say another word about it. If somebody should bring it up in a press scrum, pretend like you didn't hear them and move on. +

Kate,

Check out Gateway Pundit's latest post.

Apparantly Iran has "big news" to announce today.
Speculation is they've completed the enrichment process and are now part of the nuclear club.

Posted by: mitch at April 11, 2006 10:15 AM

I'm not even remotely surprised.

The MSM is almost entirely irrelevant these days. Too slow to react and so detatched from what the public is actually concerned with. Interested and active news observers now have the tools to seek out information and they are not about to sit back and wait to be spoon fed it by the 6 o'clock TV broadcast.

The MSM still has a purpose, but it is more as a coroner to news events than as an investigator.

Search engines have become very localized. It's no wonder you're getting those results.

Do the same search from a server in Florida and it'll probably come up empty.

Posted by: Blogwell Fray at April 11, 2006 10:43 AM

Actually, since most of the traffic to that thread was caused by my participation, you owe me Kate. I'm keeping you at number one.

And yet all I get is abuse and threats of expulsion. BigCitLib's bleed, you know? BigCityLibs even cry!

Posted by: bigcitylib at April 11, 2006 11:03 AM

This server is in Florida. But to test your theory, I performed the same search from Germany and got the same results.

Posted by: Kate at April 11, 2006 11:04 AM

Here's another link that gets the same results:

Yes means no @ rabib.ca. What does "kidding" mean? It's blagh's fault. Or, what's her name? Fired by e-mail.... yuk... no respect... no severance Gum? Free advice: Take this to the Human Rights Tribunal,c/o El-Misery, Mosque nearest you. +

Audra wrote the following on her blog, in response to the e-mail firing:The first question is "Are they f****** kidding me?" to which the answer is no. The second question is ....I got fired by email by a member of the management committee for not filling out a form?" to which the answer is yes. +

Yeah, speaking of blogs, I too saw the bit about babble.ca firing one of their own. Poor thing, she had to put up with late cheques and reduced hours. I didn't know moddies got paid for that. Judging from the time Kate is on here, I'd say she is probably pulling in six figures before taxes. (to CBL and others, that was humour).

I just wonder though, how bubble.ca paid audra. Government grant perhaps, arts council maybe, or heaven forbid one of those big money sucking corporations that don't pay their fair share to support the socialist fabric of our society, but pay to advertise. Mmmmm...

Posted by: Texas Canuck at April 11, 2006 3:04 PM

Kate,

Good point. I might have used the wrong terminology. It's not physically were the server is located, it's were the user is that accesses it.

Do you have a friend in Florida you could e-mail your search criteria, someone that uses a completely different host/server account.

If I'm wrong I'd like to know and will publicly eat crow (as long as I can salt and pepper to taste).

You're #1 when you run the search from Manila too ;)

Posted by: she at April 11, 2006 8:13 PM

Nice one. Too bad all the information used in the post came from the dreaded MSM monster CTV.
