How many trolls does it take to fill a crater?
Interesting bait used in the trap; appeal to their sense of entitlement... hopefully they'll park it for good.

The Cartoon Riots: The Price of Freedom
As the violence that erupted over Danish cartoon depictions of Prophet Muhammad continues, an obvious fatigue is developing around this issue. Commentators have had their say, and many believe that little more thought is possible on the issue. Consequently, the public's interest is also waning.
Thus, I thought it beneficial to make clear the cost of the riots to date:
* Deaths. At least 70 people have been killed and more than 280 injured in the worldwide protests. The numbers could be higher than this, as there is confusion about how many people were killed in some countries. The toll includes at least 49 people dead in Nigerian riots since this weekend -- but the number could be higher there. The Christian Association of Nigeria claims to have counted more bodies than the Red Cross did. Also, Reuters reports that 207 people injured in the riots are in critical condition, so the death toll could rise further. (It is worth noting that some Nigerian opposition politicians claim that the riots were not about the Danish cartoons, but rather were designed to protest a planned constitutional amendment to allow Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo to seek a third term in 2007.) In addition to the deaths in Nigeria, at least three people (including an eight-year-old boy) were killed in the chaos in Pakistan; at least ten people died in Libya after protesters tried to storm the Italian consulate; and police killed four people in Afghanistan when enraged Afghanis marched on a U.S. military base. There have also been significant instances of violence where, fortunately, nobody was killed. These include 300 Palestinians overpowering a police detail and attacking an international observer mission in Hebron; a confrontation between police and about 10,000 demonstrators marching on a Danish embassy in Bangladesh; and an incident where Kenyan police fired at hundreds of demonstrators, wounding at least one.
* Targeting of Christians. Sadly, Christians living in the Islamic world have become targets of this continuing violence. The L.A. Times has linked the recent burning of a church in the city of Sukkur in southern Pakistan to the climate of unrest caused by the cartoon riots. The day before that, Muslims protesting in the city of Maiduguri in Nigeria attacked Christians and burned 15 churches. And shortly after the cartoons were published, a 60-year-old Roman Catholic priest was shot to death in Turkey in an incident that observers believe to be linked to the cartoons. +

maz2- Excellent reporting. This is exactly what right wing bloggers should be doing more of to present their arguments.
I don't agree with you on many things but you're light years ahead of the "nuke Islam" crowd and a worthy opponent.
Posted by: Jose at February 22, 2006 9:01 AMI had the chance to visit Israel a few years back - if you want to get an inkling into the psychosis of hatred and self imposed dilusion that makes up the Palestinian mindset, just watch some of their state sponsored TV.
Goebbels would understand it & applaud.
Palestinans are sick, deluded, self victimizing psychos and this kind of suicide attack won't soon stop because to them it is as "normal" as for us to have a job - its what you do. They get the kids at 3 years old and brain wash them into mini-me hate machines - they keep that for their lives.

My question...I read where this has a high percentage of Muslim on Muslim violence. Any figures?
Thanx
Posted by: Garry P. at February 22, 2006 9:31 AMFrom the linked article:
"Ahmad’s father added that Zionist forces are responsible for the violence since they did not release more than 7000 prisoners; and they were responsible for killing thousands of Palestinians."
I get it - the Israelis are to blame for the thousands of Palestinians who have blown themselves up because they (the Israelis) did not release 7000 more Palestinian prisoners so that they too could blow themselves up. Makes sense. (8-P)
The Parents would be so proud....had they lived.

Radical islamic violence is mostly muslim on muslim. Sorry no figures but five minutes on Google should sort you out.
It's worth noting that Egyptian Islamic Jihad disintegrated into several subfactions after they lost public support a few years back. They then went into a regressive phase where they spent a few years killing each other off. Various subfactional zealots blamed the movements declining popularity and effectiveness on their fellw Jihadists. Apparently they were too lax and were in fact considered apostates themselves.
Tangent Warning
You get the same pattern with the anarchists in Spain during the 30s. The anti-Franco forces in Spain were a coalition of 3 factions. The anarchists and communists factions went nuts and started killing each other. Franco, the cagiest of fascists, took advantage of this infighting to win the Spanish Civil War. While his opponents were wacking each other Franco consolidated his control on the rest of the country. He let them kill each other for a while and then rolled in afterwards and wiped out whatever was left over at a time and place of his own choosing.
Franco was then able to position himself in the eyes of many Spaniards as the man who saved them from communists and dangerous radicals when in fact he was the co-leader (the main leader was killed) of a coup which overthrew a democratic government.
I spit on Franco's decomposing guts but he was a master of the political game.

Thanx Jose:...I'll Google away! Any others know the answer??
Jose does not spit on Lenin/Stalin's & Hitler's corpses? Communist Stalin's & Nazi Hitler's deeds brought fascist Franco to power.George Orwell spat on Stalin/Franco & Hitler's evils. Orwell eventually realized all three were evil spawn of socialism,cf., Animal Farm, 1984.
Communism/fascism/nazism & all other isms are the progeny/evil spawn of socialism. +
When he returned on leave to Barcelona on April 26, 1937, he found that everything had changed. The atmosphere of equality had gone and “the normal division of society into rich and poor, upper class and lower class, was reasserting itself.” He describes his feelings of foreboding: “The danger was quite simple and intelligible. It was the antagonism between those who wished the revolution to go forward and those who wished to check or prevent it—ultimately between the Anarchists and the Communists.”
The policy of the Stalinists in Spain—as it was throughout Europe and internationally—was determined by the interests of the bureaucracy in the Soviet Union. They had adopted the narrow nationalist policy of “Socialism in One Country” and had completely abandoned the interests of the international working class. They viewed any independent workers’ struggle as an obstacle to their attempt to build alliances with the “democratic” imperialists of Britain and France. In The Spanish Revolution (1931-1939) Trotsky points out that “The Soviet government played the role of hangman toward the revolutionary Spanish workers, in order to demonstrate its trustworthiness to London and Paris.”
So from the beginning of the war the Stalinists defended the right to rule of the Spanish bourgeoisie. They were determined to pre-empt any development towards revolution. Their immediate task was to smash the independent strength of the working class, to destroy the POUM and the CNT, disarm the workers and disband the militias and they were prepared to use any method to achieve this.
The Russian GPU operated with impunity throughout the whole country. They spread rumours that the POUM and the CNT were infiltrated by fascist agents provocateurs and accused both organisations of sabotaging the war. They said the POUM was allied to the fascists and the CNT was “objectively fascist.”
Spanish Communist Party secretary Jose Diaz wrote, “Our principal enemies are the Fascists. However, these not only include the Fascists themselves, but also the agents who work for them.... Some call themselves Trotskyites.... If everyone knows this, if the government knows it, why doesn’t it treat them like Fascists and exterminate them pitilessly?”
This was the period of the Moscow Trials when thousands of Trotskyists, and others who opposed the bureaucracy in Russia, were hunted down, imprisoned and murdered. On December 19, 1936, the official Russian CP newspaper Pravda announced, “In Catalonia the elimination of Trotskyites and Anarcho-Syndicalists has begun. It will be carried out with the same energy as it was carried out in the Soviet Union.”
These were no idle threats. On May 3, 1937, the Stalinist-controlled Assault Guards attacked the Barcelona Telephone Exchange, which was in the hands of the Anarchists.
Confronting the heavily armed Assault Guards, thousands of workers turned out on the streets to build and man the barricades. A general strike was called throughout the city. It was, for a brief period, an insurrectionary situation in which Orwell participated. +

maz2 "Jose does not spit on Lenin/Stalin's & Hitler's corpses?"
I certainly do I simply don't applaud their savvy like I do Franco. I completely agree with everything you're saying about the Stalinists.
They also pulled a very big con on the republicans. The republicans gave Russia Spain's entire gold reserve in exchange for arms. Unfortunately the idiots handed over the gold in advance the Russians kept the gold and never delivered the arms.
That probably more than anything was the nail in the Republican coffin because after that they didn't have enough money left over to buy any more.
Posted by: Jose at February 22, 2006 12:21 PMGarry P. - It was just a month or so ago (IIRC) that the Palestinians-killing-Palestinians number of deaths rose above the Israelis-killing-Palestinians number of deaths. Check out littlegreenfootballs.com and search out their archives. There's plenty of stats on Muslim deaths there.

Posted by: benning at February 22, 2006 7:43 PMLet's get this straight.
Ahmad killed "Zionists". He didn't kill humans...he killed 16 impersonal video game cartoon characters called "Zionists" and hurt a hundred more. The enemy's name "Zionists" is mentioned five times in Ahmad's obit. There were no other descriptive value adding nouns attached like "men, women, children or babies"...just only the inhuman sounding term "Zionists".
I bet his father is real proud. He didn't ever imagine his son going off to kill himself because Israel decided not to release 7000 prisoners. But daddy was there to encourage his own flesh and blood to "pink mist" himself into oblivion when a desperate suicidal thought made it's way into his kid's head. Now daddy himself gets to play victim by contemplating a lonely old age without his boy's presence in his life.
Daddy' a real victim now...and he finally fits in with all the other self-victimized Palestinian brethren. He can raise a cup of coffee and give an empty smile in celebration, getting back many smiles just as empty in return. He might even talk to his neighbour's kids about the Zionist killing exploits of his son. Maybe with his personal encouragement more boys could be as heroic as his son! Then their fathers can have a smile that looks just like his...
