Holy Cow

MIddle East Times;

Thousands of people flocked to southern Egypt on Monday to seek blessing from a calf that they believe was born as God's reply to the publication in Europe of cartoons depicting the Prophet, police said.

Some 20,000 thousand people had gathered in front of Mohammed Abu Dif's house in the village of Tunis to see the holy mammal, whose skin folds when he was born reportedly formed the words "There is no God but Allah", a police official said on condition of anonymity.

(The skin folds are reportedly visible only to those who stand very close to the animal.)

Holy Cows!!
The Unity of Biology and Ecology with Spirit
by David Yarrow

AT FULL MOON OF AUGUST 1994, a female white buffalo calf was born near Janesville, Wisconsin. Spiritual shock waves swept through native American communities, for this sign fulfilled an old prophecy the Holy Woman who brought the Sacred Pipe and Instruction will soon return. Named "Miracle," the calf's pasture became a shrine visited by thousands, guarded around the clock by native Americans.

Genetically, this birth is a miracle, for American bison were slaughtered to near-extinction in the last century and replaced by European cows. Science assumed the gene for white fur was lost in this bovine holocaust. The prophecy promises the white buffalo's appearance signals a return of the American bison.

Native American elders said this holy sign indicates the time to choose is now upon us—that we must return to balance or face disaster. So they called for prayers for world peace at the Summer Solstice. On June 21, 1996 at 10 am MST, hundreds of native Americans from Great Plains grasslands gathered at Buffalo Horn Butte in the Black Hills. Each tribe brought their medicine bundles. Across North America, thousands joined in synchronous silence, and thousands more on other continents around Earth.

Those prayers have not ceased. They are "The Cry of the Earth."

NOW, IN THE MIDDLE EAST HOLY LAND—where three continents, cultures and creeds collide—this American bovine miracle is echoed by birth of a red heifer. As human need and greed banish more and more species to extinction, another supposedly extinct gene has reappeared. Science and religion are again challenged to understand this message of Nature and intention of Spirit. For these births aren't mere genetic chance, but indeed signal Earth's entry into an awesome new millennium of climax and change. >>>

Dhimmitude, submission to Islam by Norway. This post of the heifer with Mo's face would be considered blasphemy law in Norway; ergo, subject to punishmemt. What would the punishment be? Cutting off your hand/s? Gouging one eye/two eyes? Lashes up to the number 60-70-80? Beheading for repeat offences?

Seriously though, We (western society) can be insulted and even be ofended yet we discuss many things that we may not agree with without riots, because we just look at things differently from other cultures. Our perspective is different because we don't take it personaly.

We laugh at things that our culture finds funny. Other cultures see themselves as attacked - even though no intention of hurt is implied - because of their view of the world. I will use the views of a Jew and a Christian. Both can be attacked - some even killed - because of what they believe, or are misunderstood by others, but in Canada it appears that because they don't go and demonstrate - thankfully there are no riots in the streets - but use the media and laws to express how they feel.

If Canadians lose the right to express ones view than we might end up as many muslim countries. Sad that it has to come to this - where the Main Stream Media (MSM) are hesatant in presenting complete knowledge of a subject in FEAR of offending a person or group.

What is needed is an informed Canadian - and not just "hear-say" about something.

Those without the internet probably do not even know what the cartoons look like and pass judgement without full knowledge. It is just like those in Toronto who listened to what the "Liebrals" (that is how I spell it) did in the last two elections - used fear (and outright lies) of Conservitives to get more votes. The world did not end with a minority Conservitive government - but we now have to work for what is best for Canada.

Annyway, the "holy cow" puts things into perspective

Why do God's messages always have to be coded? To paraphrase Yossarian, wouldn't a 2 minute spot on the Super Bowl been more effective?

Just musing.

In answer to Terry's question above - moral equivalence only in the imagining of religious images where they don't really exist. I'm not one of the apologists for the nonsense currently going on in response to the cartoons. If I were to make a moral equivalence, it would be between the current state of Islam in the mid-east and the Christian church of 500 years ago. Fortunately, neither the Spanish Inquisition nor the mob following Luther had access to nuclear weapons.

The comely calf cried constantly at the cartoon caricature created calmly on the cows carcass, now a canvass. Bewildered, the braying bovine bemoaned the bomb by her belly. Under an udderly uncommon uniform, the ungulate uttered an ungrateful unction. "Mooohamed' moaned the mooing milk machine midst the mingling masses. Astonished and amazed the adorers of Allah agreed not to agitate again! Delighted Danes danced, denounced and dared to despise devious drawing deeds done in Denmark.

Mary M - Very informative article. makes me question why the mainstream media does not want to publish the cartoons. There was a time in this country and in the US that newspapers were all about contraversy and discussion. Have we become so sensitive that we are now afraid to speak our minds? I work with a polish immigrant, and she said something very interesting today. She said that Europe is finally waking up and will take their countries back. Wow, this is a very provacative statement but if it hold true, we may soon see a Europe again, reminicient(sp) of pre-WW II. That could lead to some very unstable times over there!

Posted by: odie441 at February 15, 2006 8:01 PM

Mary M. Today I did something I have not done in twenty years. I bought a magazine subscription. For the Western Standard. Most of the western mainstream media would be hard pressed to find a pair of balls between the lot of them. I think that perhaps the best way to fight these people is to use their tactics. Boycott Muslim businesses. Boycott the mainstream papers and news media. Notify their advertizers that you will be boycotting their products if they continue to advertize with them. Today on the radio I heard a muslim cleric say that they will pursue hate crime charges against Ezra Levant and the other paper. He said that if they do not win it is because the laws do not work and the laws must then be changed. I always thought that if I challenged the law and lost, it was because my case was full of holes. Not so these people apparently. Their agenda seems clear. To subjugate western society to muslim law. It is time to make a stand. Freedom is not free and sometimes people have to fight, perhaps even die. I have a new favorite saying "I've got a picture of Jesus on my wall, please don't kill me!" That in itself sums up the difference between us and them. I won't kill you for your religious beliefs, I will kill you if you try to take away my freedom. Sorry for the too long post. mea culpa.

Oddie & Greg;
Thankyou for your thoughts. This is exactly how a lot of us here feel. As Canadian's we have gone too far in "bending over" to accommodate every religion and nationality. What every happened to being proud of our country, keeping religion and nationalities out of our government affair's. If you follow what is happening in Australia, things are being to change. I welcome all that want to come to Canada to be Canadian first and to be proud of it, AND they should be able to be proud of their religion and nationality too! Sure, I think we as Canadian's have a warped sense of humor but GOD, it's pretty sad when one can not laugh at the differents that should make our country the best in the world. I too am going to get a subscription to the Western Standard and let them know why, as well.

Seriously, this stuff is worrisome! The real worry is that governments are using this "cartoon" stuff as a cover for increased state control(s).

Russia clamps down on religious insults

Katy Duke
Wednesday February 15, 2006

After the recent Muslim caricature controversy, Russian media organisations have been ordered not to publish anything that could be construed as offensive to any religion or risk losing their licences.

Russia's media and culture watchdog, The Federal Service for the Oversight of Legislation in Mass Communications and the Protection of Cultural Heritage, has pledged to take a tough line against any organisation accused of "insulting religious feelings".

A spokesman said: "Measures envisaged in Russian legislation, including the cancellation of registration, will be taken if any Russian media issue materials insulting religious feelings."

The statement follows recent demonstrations around the world by Muslims protesting against satirical cartoons of the prophet Mohammed that first appeared in a Danish newspaper.

Today's announcement was followed by the launch of an investigation by the Russian Prosecutor General's office into a Volgograd newspaper that recently published a religious cartoon. >>>

Eric,

I should have used the expresssion cultural equivalence rathe than moral equivalence but your response is unhelpful. Are you comparing Inquisition period Catholics to today's Muslims? If not what was the point of your statement?

None of the MSMers who are so sensitive about Muslim sensiblities that they refuse to carry the news (i.e. print the cartoons)are saying that today's Muslims are so backward they remind them of 16th century papists.

On the contrary they wish to portray UNREFORMED Muslims as enlightened as the rest of us.They are not. The rest of us don't believe people should be killed because they don't believe Mohammed was a prophet or frankly, that that people should be killed because they express the view that those who think they should be killed because they don't share their beliefs won't REFORM unless we stand up to them

CANBERRA: Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia
law were recently told to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his ministers
made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown.

Treasurer Peter Costello hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state and its laws were made by parliament.
"If those are not your values, if you want a country
which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you," he said on national television. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia, one the Australian law and another, the Islamic law, that this is false. If you can't agree with
parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law, and have the opportunity to go to another country which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option," Costello said.
Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to
leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off".
"Basically, people who don't want to be Australians, and they don't want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then they can basically clear off," he said.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims by saying he supported spies monitoring the nation's mosques.

BRITS, AMERICANS and CANADIANS.....ARE YOU LISTENING?
This is Leadership with guts! The way it is....the way it
should be. Our men and women died in two world wars to get us this country and we are giving it away.

Go fatwah yourself!

Posted by: Joe Canuck at February 16, 2006 12:54 PM

I really don't know what to say... it hurts me inside to see humans with all these hatred feelings inside..You know what.. I believe it is not a matter of religion that makes people hate or hurt each other so bad.. it is just something inside some human beings.. I do not generalize, this is why I said “some” human beings and not all of them.. some people have this thing inside them that turns other people’s lives to a living hell. Just imagine something with me… if all people were from the same religion then they’ll fight because they are from different nationalities.. if they were from the same nationally, they’ll fight because they are from different colors.. if they are from the same color, they’ll fight because each belongs to a different football team!! See.. it’s an instinct inside to find a reason to fight over it and kill each other for it.. I’m a Muslim girl and I never hated Christians nor Jews cause as Muslims we have a believe that says religion is for God and each one has the right to believe in what he/she wants to believe in.. I never judge people of what they believe in and we live side by side with Christians in my country.. we and particularly I never considered those minorities, who are called extremists, who come up from different religions to create hatred among people and cause real crises to appear.. I want also to add that I don’t hate Danish people because one person did something wrong.. freedom of speech doesn’t mean to insult others.. no.. it means that you should have the courage to respect others and their believes and cultures .. one last thing I would like to say which is that why Muslims didn’t insult Christians or Jews for instance with similar cartoons? Because simply the answer is that our religion forbidden us from doing so because one of our basic believes is to respect other religions because all are from God.
