The Last Bustion Of Free Speech

So far no photos of one stuck to the wet chest of a busty blonde. (Give that a day, I'd say.)

Isn't the ubiquitous conservative t-shirt model - y'know the one you see at Instapundit all the time - a brunette?

Posted by: Damian at February 10, 2006 3:46 PM

I wonder what the life expectancy would be for someone wearing that in France or Denmark?

Posted by: Candace at February 10, 2006 3:54 PM

I'll buy a "Neo-Con Kate" tee shirt. Maybe you could silk screen the image on shirts made in Pakistan... double whammy fer sure

The Muslim world has revealed its critical flaw to the world. They can't take a joke - for whatever reasons, they are just like the socialist whingig moonbats - very insecure or something.

I can just see the DoD exploiting this weakness by mobilizing the 1st Cartooning & Satire Brigade - the could have a "Cartoon Battalion", a "T-shirts and Poster Company", a "Stand up Comedian Platoon"

Can you imagine Robins Williams doing the Arab take off on his famous Golf/Scottish skit.

The arab world could be kept in paroxyms of rage for ever, muttering, chanting and marching and screaming until they got this out of their system and got with the 21st century.

maybe even busty blondes are to smat to where this silliness.

Posted by: jamal at February 10, 2006 4:46 PM

thats should say "smart"

Posted by: jamal at February 10, 2006 4:46 PM

Its a free world jamal, one person's silliness is another person's bellylaugh.

That's why its called freedom - I personally think all religions are ridiculous and mock all accordingly. I don't think it is silly, I think it is an education program for the brainwashed.

If you don't like it, don't look, don't listen

Welcome to the free world.

Posted by: Fred at February 10, 2006 4:52 PM

Jamal,

and "to" should be "too"?
and "where" should be "wear"?
and "thats" should be "that"?

Nice job on "maybe", though

I do NOT agree of making fun of Mohamid, I'm a Christian and i don't agree with making fun of Christ.
Now I understand the cartoons are used to make fun and point out hypocracy in BOTH our religions.
If you poke the sleeping dog he is going to bite you. What the north American MSM fail to report is what is happening in Denmark that has led to these cartoons. Muslims in Copenhagen have set up Mulim zones and basically told non-Muslims to stay out with the threat of death. Also they have issued Fatwas (read called hits) against those critical on what is going on. I don't think that provoking the issue is going to solve the problem, but then again what is going to bring Muslims to the table to actually denounce these things that are going on. The solution resides with Muslims not tolerating the hatred of the terrorists they denounce. But pissing off the the Non Violent actual Koran following Muslims is only adding to the argument the (supposed muslim) terrorists are using.

I don't know if people know about a level headed Muslim blog named "the religious policeman".

Very good reading.

Rob R - give Jamal a break - click on his name and go to his website.

The other 'rob' - have seen your postings before, and must tell you (just in case you aren't aware of it), there's always a little giveaway that tells the rest of us that you aren't a Christian. A very small 'c'hristian, maybe.

I wish someone would print up a scorecard so I can tell when it is okay to hate Muslims under "Canadian values" and when it isn't.

Someone please help me out here and double check my "Canadian values" PC health.

1. I must hate Muslims when Canadian imans and their congregations protest same sex marriage. Then Muslims are being hateful social conservative theocrats trying to impose medieval religious values on a modern Canada.

2. It was okay to hate the Taliban when they were in power stoning women and gays and blowing up statues, but now it is bigotry to suggest the people killing our troops in Afganistan have anything to do with Islam. After all, our troops are peacekeeping. We have to have our troops take off the helmets and stop carrying guns so they won't get mistaken for Americans.

3. Sudan. Now, it was okay to hate the companies doing business in Sudan because they were evil capitalists squeezing blood money profits out of the misery, slavery and genocide of black African non-Muslims......whoops, the UN says it isn't genocide and Canadian companies have pulled out and the Chinese have moved in.

So, are we safe expressing displeasure with the Sudanese Islamic government or is that anti-Islamic hate?
Never mind, we sent some 30 year old junk vehicles that don't run to the African Union soldiers in the Sudanese desert. Our hands are clean, we can forget all about it. Besides, our Canadian Muslims have decreed it is none of our damned unbeliever business.

4. Of course, it goes without saying the Canadian reaction to suicide bombers is "distastfull, but.... insert code phrase of day( root causes, poverty, anti American imperialism,) and has nothing to do with the religion of peace."

5. I have a pretty firm grip on 9-11 now. Everybody shakes their head and says " boy, there's lots of questions about what the
CIA and Mossad were up to that day and it is sure strange the cellphones worked, isn't it?"

6. ..... I have to go lie down, my head hurts and I haven't even got to the cartoons yet. Does that means I am a total failure as a Canadian?

Ignatieff bows out of major speech
Liberal MP cites 'various political reasons' for cancellation
Feb. 10, 2006. 04:08 PM
CANADIAN PRESS

OTTAWA — Michael Ignatieff, the Harvard academic who was one of the few Liberal stars to win a seat in last month's election, has bowed out of what would have been his first major speech as an MP.

Ignatieff had been scheduled to speak at the annual meeting of the Conference of Defence Associations this month, but he cancelled the date this week.

Alain Pellerin, executive director of the association, said Ignatieff told the group "he could no longer honour his commitment for various political reasons."

The association, which represents defence-oriented organizations, invited Ignatieff last summer. He agreed tentatively, but the commitment was put on hold during the election campaign.

Pellerin said he thought Ignatieff had confirmed his attendance after the election, but a spokesman for the new MP said the date was never solid.

"It was tentative," said Jim Maclean. "Now that he is an MP, one who has not yet been assigned a critic responsibility, he decided it wouldn't be appropriate to speak."

It was rumoured within the association that Ignatieff was told to cancel by Bill Graham, the acting Liberal leader, but both Maclean and a spokesman for Graham denied that.

"He did not check with Graham nor was he asked to, nor was he asked to submit his text," Maclean said. >>>

Muslim Anger Over Sex Doll

Thursday February 09, 2006

A mosque is reported to have written to erotic retailer Ann Summers asking them to rebrand an inflatable sex doll - because it is named after a Muslim prophet.

Manchester Central Mosque said the decision to name the blow-up aid "Mustafa Shag" had caused "hurt and anguish".

The new male doll is being sold as an "inflatable escort for your hen-night adventures", the Independent reported.

Unfortunately, Mustafa is a name given to the Prophet Mohammed.

"You have no idea how much hurt, anguish and disgust this obnoxious phrase has caused to Muslim men, women and children," the letters reads.

"We are asking you to please relent on compassionate grounds." >>>

Islam seems to be more like a cult than a real religion, a big cult for sure, but cult nonetheless. They're right into the suicide thing - so maybe they'd like some Kool Aid?

Yeah, and if they keep rioting we'll just publish more cartoons. That'll show 'em.

After all, someone, somewhere, said that "...press freedoms were paid for in blood by editors and reporters of decades past who gave limb and life to establish the right to offend". Who knew all that shooting by soldiers was for nought? It was really reporters and editors who secured our freedoms by publishing cartoons.

Pres. Bush could have saved all that nasty shootin' if he'd only known cartoons making fun of al qaeda would have had them so ashamed that they'd commit suicide. Wait, hijackers and suicide bombers do commit suicide. Hmmm

Seriously, an adult doesn't punish a child by making fun of their teddy bear.

Posted by: ol hoss at February 10, 2006 11:42 PM

"...an adult doesn't punish a child by making fun of their teddy bear..."

These 'children' are heavily-armed nutters who want to destroy the West. They wanted to destroy the West *before* the cartoons came out, and they would want to destroy it even if the cartoons had never existed.

This cartoon furor is very instructive. It has wound the Islamists up to the point where they're breaking cover and exposing their true intentions. Their actions are motivated by anger, and are out of the control of their usual PR spin doctors. What we are seeing is not the weirdness of a minority, but the true feelings of the vast majority of that culture.

In the same way that a military force would feint in order to count the muzzle blasts of an opposing force, these cartoons have provoked a fusilade that should be telling us a lot more than we're perhaps willing to admit. We *are* at war with these people, and those of them in our midst will become a fifth column -- whether by choice or coercion, the effect will be the same.

Allied with these enemies of our way of life are the usual suspects on the left, who are always willing to attack the very civilization that nurtured them.

These cartoons are not funny: they're deadly serious. And the way that our 'leaders' respond to these building pressures will have a tremendous effect on all of our futures.

Posted by: John Neish at February 11, 2006 12:11 AM

Hear, hear John Neish.

Watch out when men decide that they have been imbued with the divine wisdom necessary to mete out God's justice on His behalf. It's only the usual precursor to the uniforming and letting loose of state-sanctioned psychopaths on innocent men, women and children.

Take special note of the admonitions of the moderate voices from the Religion of Peace calling for those who seek to behead any who laugh at KharTuhns of Prophet to get some sense. Their clammouring for reason reminds me of the sound of an empty desert.

Posted by: Shaken at February 11, 2006 12:39 AM

While I agree with both Shaken & John's points, I just have to go directly back to topic and ask if the title shouldn't be "The Last BustIER of Free Speech"?

Our leaders??

We're screwed pal.

Our leaders are wimps. Except for Dubbya and Blair and half the west hates them too.

Did I mention we're screwed.

Same 'big top', different clowns.

While the Ashura images are horrific, and you can find a wider discussion of the practice here, please also click here for another Islamic perspective and balance on the issue.

My main contention still stands, however: Islam is fundamentally a religion which believes in world conquest and teaches its members that they have a duty to spread Islam, including by the sword and other violent meants.

These would be teachings of Mohammed, and not just individual schools of thought.

Posted by: Chris from Victoria, BC at February 11, 2006 2:31 AM

And let's acknowledge the truth that there are evil people everywhere, including in our own Western Society, sadly. The difference is we don't approve of it and make it some type of goal (and source of cultural pride).

Not provoked to violence in September. Not provoked to violence by cartoons issued in Egypt in October.

Massive response to cartoons in February. Provoked? Not at all.
Instructed to protest violently by Emirs and Imams in February? Certainly!

Purpose? To derail the advances of peace and democracy.

The only two forces that threaten dictatorships in Quatar, Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. TG
