Alberta Liberal Defects To Conservatives

Calgary Herald;

A prominent Calgary Liberal -- and hand-picked candidate by Paul Martin for the 2004 election -- has defected to the federal Conservatives, saying the Grits are unprincipled and that the prime minister has failed Canadians.

Dale Muti, Liberal candidate in four federal and provincial elections since 1988, said Monday he's swapping political stripes because of what he calls the party's unethical behaviour -- as outlined in the Gomery report -- but also due to Martin ignoring Albertans' concerns.

[...]

Also troublesome, he added, is that Martin never spared a minute to speak with him over the past 18 months, despite numerous letters requesting the prime minister lend an ear to Calgary's concerns -- particularly those of the multicultural community.

Muti is an immigration consultant who has run for the Liberals in four provincial and federal elections. Admittedly, that could get depressing.

Dale Muti jumps ship from Creative Conviction
Isn’t strange that Dale Muti is jumping ship right now? The Gomery report came out a while back … how come he decides now to leave the party? The reasons he gives are valid … but why now? Also troublesome, he added, is that Martin ... [Read More]

Funny how he's just doing this now isn't it?
Should the conservatives even want this guy?
Something smells about the timing. Western concerns and Liberal Party ethics are so.......old.
Rats, sinking ship.

Yeah a long time liberal hand picked by Fat Paulie, who describes himself as an "immigration consultant".
No Thanks!
Guy's like him are what is wrong with Canadian politics.

Another Lie-beral plant, just like BS.

I think the CPC should use his jumping off the sinking RAT LIBERAL ship, but we should keep him on the PLANK until after election then dump him.

Steak vs Sizzle.

That is what this election campaign has become.

Mr. Martin has all the pat lines, well rehearsed. All the platitudes and promises of his Liberal vision of Canada sound like he has practiced them for hours.

Perhaps his whole life?

His problem is Canadians are seeing him increasingly as all talk and no action.

Mr. Harper is not the blustering speaker that Mr. Martin is, he doesn't pretend to be all emotional.

Canadians, who often see American patriotism as overly and therefore offensive display of showboating, are seeing Mr. Harper as quieter, and more reserved.

Just like Canadians.

They are seeing Mr. Martin's lofty platitudes and promises as increasingly American in look and feel.

It is strange Mr. Martin, who came to office promising so much, and delivering so little is now looking increasingly like a southern Democrat running for office.

All sizzle with no steak.

Mr. Harper, who appears almost boring by contrast has kept working hard, and ignoring the bluster, is increasingly gaining appeal to Canadians.

All steak with almost no sizzle.

How Canadian.

Tired.

I wonder if Landside Annie will try to defect or better yet try to cross the floor only to find that the Conservatives have dug a moat in the floor.

Hey Tired,

I hope that steak is Alberta beef.

Harper is the 'Alberta beef'.

Paul Martin is like eating baked potato chips. Sounds like good ideas, until you have to eat them.

Of course Martin is increasingly looking foolish out on the campaign trail.

If this is their strategy, one wonders who was drinking what when they thought it up.

Tired.

Just wait, he could be a Liberal mole. Pulling a Belinda thing when the time comes.

Silly question 1: where were these rats last election, or during the Non Confidence Vote?.

Silly question 2: what are they doing on that ship to begin with?

Sillier question 3: how do these guys go to sleep at night?

cheers

he is out to steal the last parts of the hidden agenda that Paris Stronach couldnt find.

If he wants to be a conservative candidate he should have to jump through the appropriate hoops just like any other candidate. Being a former Liberal is certainly not a qualification for proclamation.

Reading about Dale Muti I am reminded of the Henny Youngman joke "Take my candidate please"

If there is a conspiracy it is quite ingenious as Dale as a Tory candidate would represent the best chances the Liberals will ever have in Calgary. However, I am certain that Conservatives in Alberta after witnessing four of Mr. Muti's campaigns will not allow this to happen.

Finally, the claim that Mr. Muti was hand-picked by the Prime Minister and overly boastful. I doubt he could have picked Mr. Muti out of a police line-up let alone select him as a candidate.
