Hey Kate, another scandal to throw on the pile, the Liberal's seem to like using gasoline to put out fires.
On the reverse onus idea for gun crimes, this could be so easily abused, in that all it would take to have a long gun owner locked up, without justification, would be the word of two(Lie-beral) witnesses? The only thing they would have to say is that this person pointed a firearm.
This rivals Tamany Hall and the Daley Democratic machine in Chicago.
Actually, this may exceed those abuses.
Posted by: sigmund, carl and alfred at January 2, 2006 10:07 AMHow much longer are sheep-like Canadians going to take this? We have no healthcare in Canada, a fake 'waiting lines solution' but the friends of the Liberals get all the entitlements they are entitled to. Wonder if we 'relocated' Lafleur to Costa Rica too? The abuse heaped on Canadians by this government should be actionable.
Posted by: George at January 2, 2006 10:34 AMAwwww man...this #@!&^% just never ends!! ( using my best outraged tax payer tone)
We can expect this and if we see a Liberal regime department that isn't on the takem it will be the anomaly.
Here's a scarier thought: a simple change of leadership didn't stop it....a simple change in government may temporarily halt or slow it..but it will take systemic change in federal accountability instrumentations to stop it....I can't see that happening in a minority governing atmosphere.
The other scary thought is that the CPC could spend a full term just pulling Liberal skeletons out of closets....but the media will paint them as "vindictive" or "spiteful" and nothing will come of the expose's in moving toward a transparency solution.
Are we doomed to pay the tax tab for corruption in perpetuity ?
Just the tip of the iceberg, folks. Anybody willing to bet there's likely no surplus, or if there is, one that falls well below that proclaimed by Big Ralphie? Hard to believe that there are no journalists in this country following the trail, but it appears it's up to bloggers. I'm sending all this stuff to non-blogger grannies, who like to surf and e-mail, but have not yet begun to blog. Most are in Toronto, life-long Libs because that's always how they've voted. Never too late to be educated, darlings, I say. Can it be that all the Liberal backbenchers are totally ignorant of these goings on? Or is the concentration of power so great in the PMO that they really are in the dark? The Liberal Party of Canada really does seem to be a front for organized 'legislated' criminal activity.
Posted by: Iron Lady at January 2, 2006 10:58 AMI have never believed there is a surplus--just more creative accounting by the lIberals. The Liberals never met a dime they couldn't blow--why would anyone believe for one minute that the Libs would not have blown every cent on their entitlements--and put Canada into hock for a millenium?
I remeber a lawyer in BC who found a direct line to the Liberals and organized crime--hie office was gutted and all his info seized. Big Federal Liberal organizers go on trial this year in BC--they are directly linked to organized crime--this could get interesting.
Typical Liberal arrogance and belief in entitlement...
Using fancy hotels for their own and their syncophants' and apparatchiks' luxurious pleasure rather than using a reasonable and perfectly suitable Holiday Inn Express or similar, like most folks.
Also infuriating is the RCMP trainees don't have their travel/accommodations, etc. paid for, so they must pay for it themselves. But Paulie et al get the best the sybaritic life has to offer. At our expense, of course.
Whereas Mulroney was accused of flying on "Cadillacs", Paul Martin is the Rolls-Royce Prime Minister. We, the people, must make do pretty much with old, rusty clunkers.
Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at January 2, 2006 11:05 AMKate...if this was passed on to the Toronto Sun and/or Winnipeg Sun maybe they would run with it. I can just see the headline...WHO was relocated to WAIKIKI!!
Posted by: AlW at January 2, 2006 11:10 AMHaving had the pleasure (?) of being relocated a total of 11 times in my 22 years of military service, I must complain bitterly that I was not offered a suite in Hawaii or Disney World. I did however get to stay one glorious night at the Ritz Motel outside of Edmunston NB. Also in full disclosure, my first three moves involved a bus ticket and a good swift boot.
I also didn't get any positions offered to me in Crown Corperations or with defence contractors. I did however get three years of wage freeze before I got out (helps the pension calculations, eh). I guess a Reform voting sargeant in the Air Force gets no Lieberal "entitlements", eh.
Posted by: Texas Canuck at January 2, 2006 11:13 AMMaybe their plan is the next scandal is intended to throw off the media covering the previous scandal and so on and so forth.
This strategy would work perfect if there was no Blogers.
If a running list of scams and scandals were kept we would all come to the conclusion that the Libs have their "HANDS IN MY POCKETS, HANDS IN MY POCKETS,--------ETC.
Reloscam finally makes an appearance in the current election. Google it folks. 'Reloscam'.

RCMP investigations into Liberal government activities
OTTAWA – Yesterday's announcement that the RCMP are conducting a criminal investigation into the Income Trust Scandal is just another chapter in an ongoing saga. Here are some media reports of RCMP investigations over the past three years:
DND:
• The RCMP is probing a $76.5 million DND contract with Compaq Canada. (National Post, September 30, 2003). >>> more

Holy S#@* Batman,
I to do not believe that we do not have a surplus! In my 25 year relationship, we have been able to afford 2 holidays together. It was mortgages, raising a child and daily living expenses (include taxes in this). Boy, if all of us new how good it was to be in the Liebreals, we would have all been climbing the ladder. This makes me wonder if this lastest scadal will ever hit the media for the general folks to read! That little snake in the grass Brison will be squirming on this. It's our turn to get some intitlement.
1. To have a PM that we could trust,
2. A legal system that actual put criminals
in jail, At top of list a whole bunch of
Liebreals for breech of TRUST..
3. Protect the innocent's (& taxpayer)rights first
I have to go get a nausea bag now, this is just to much first thing in the morning!
in the blog world.
Its a small world after all!
good work on the digs. dont expect to see it on Pravda though.

Actually, that's one thing I can see happening in a CPC minority government. The NDP has been harping for so long about Liberal corruption that they can not be seen as standing in the way of systemic changes in my opinion. Wish I could say the same thing about the gun legislation.
George. "Big Federal Liberal organizers go on trial this year in BC--they are directly linked to organized crime--this could get interesting."
Could you provide links so that we can follow this as well? I know of some but I'm not sure of which you're speaking.
AIW. "Kate...if this was passed on to the Toronto Sun and/or Winnipeg Sun maybe they would run with it."
I think the Toronto Sun and the Winnipeg Sun read Kate's blog. No need to pass it on.
Posted by: John Crittenden at January 2, 2006 11:50 AMIt is very interesting when one starts to compare the list of Liberal candidates and insiders to:
1. The Elections Canada Contributions from Corporations, Individuals and Associations (www.elections.ca)
2. The Industry Canada Registry of Lobbyists.
and
3. The Federal Government disclosure list of contracts over $10,000 (found on all Government of Canada Web sites)
It's the way to connect the dots between donations to the Liberals, and the payouts in terms of jobs and contracts....
Posted by: jim at January 2, 2006 11:58 AMI notice that there are very few of these posted "relocation" expenses that are under $25.000.I think (don't quote me) that only department purchase/expence over $25.000 requires offical minsterial approval .If my onfo is correct I wonder how many under $25.000 deals were done and not clearly documented.
Posted by: Robert at January 2, 2006 12:10 PMYou know, the Liberals cannot be voted out - like the auto fossil burning industry, it cannot be changed because think of all the people who would be put out of a job.
Think off all the baggage handlers, pencil pushers, and accounts who would have to find new jobs at McDee's thereby putting out of work the present burger flippers.
See if the Lie-berals know they are going to loose big time, one of the last things they do in Parliment is give huge grants and bonuses to companies to hire the fallout.
Ironically this might be the biggest spending spree/scam yet...
cheers
tom
$30 Million reasons NOT to vote Liberal
Posted by: Doug at January 2, 2006 1:16 PM"It is a welcoming mat that has alot of nice comfy fir on it"
Sound familiar?
How the hell could there even be 1 billion, or 100 million in relocation expenses??? This is totally insane!!!
Posted by: Colin at January 2, 2006 2:09 PMAnd PMPM says this campaign is about "values," as he states for CTV:
"Martin believes institutionalized state child care is 'the best example' of these value differences.
"'I believe that government has a very strong role to play in child care. That's a fundamental difference and that applies across the wide range of issues in which you deal with family.'"
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20051229/martin_rcmpprobe_060102/20060102?s_name=election2006
The mind boggles at this man daring to bring up the topic of values.
In passing, are these really the people Canadians want taking "a very strong role" in the care of their children?
The LIBERAL CRAP pile of scandals just keeps getting bigger and just think about all the disgusting illegal things they did that we don't know about.
This country is so desparate for change but to many sheep minded voters keep believing the Liberal Media. Once the Conservatives get into power the media in this country needs to get a huge butt kicking about how it WILL start to represent the people of Canada's interests not the narrow scope of LIEBERALS.
Where is the pride and morals, it is absolutely clear the LIBERALS have none, but the people of this country need to realize their's and vote with it.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISGUSTED WITH OUR COUNTRIES PRIME MINISTER UNTIL CHRETIEN & MARTIN CAME ALONG." Trudeau came close"
LIBERAL PARTY OF CANADA YOU ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO US ALL.
Posted by: Mike at January 2, 2006 3:02 PMSomething is wrong with this scenario. The Libs keep slagging the US but where is the location of some of these places? Ah yes. Hawaii & Florida. Also, I'll bet that they were relocated sometime between December and March to fit the locations.
Posted by: Norm at January 2, 2006 3:06 PMThis explains perhaps how a portion of the population could continue to support this corrupt regime ... how can any honest taxpaying Canadian support this crap for government?
Posted by: taxpayer at January 2, 2006 3:08 PMHow many scandals, how many outrages, how many instances of incompetent leadership, how many betrayals of the Canadian people does it take to wake up enough Liberal voters?
And it's the Conservatives with a scary agenda?! The REAL scary agenda is that of people who, notwithstanding all this Grit effluvia, still intend to vote Liberal on January 23rd.
Posted by: Dave at January 2, 2006 3:11 PMOne good thing about the Relocation contract is that the Auditor General has been called in to audit this contract. The Public Accounts committed asked the Auditor General to do this just before the Liberal government failed to win the non-confidence motion.
It seems as if the AG's work might have to cross a broader spectrum than was anticipated, but someone here seems to have done a lot of work for her.
The contract, if it is the same one administered by Royal LePage ,is called the Integrated Relocation Program ,and includes all movements by Military, RCMP and public servants. This could go a lot deeper than seen at first blush.
Hmmm, would anyone care to bet on what happens to the shares of Royal LePage and it's parent company, Brascan, if hankypanky is discovered?
Surplus-- didnt they already declare some of the surplus is due to a new way of listing assets on the books.
Valuing up the unsaleable assets . but having them listed as increased value.
things like the administration building in Banff. The Peace tower, courts, 80 year old civil servant quarters.yadda yadda yadda.
I have been contacted by a member of the mainstream media who plans to report this story soon.
Posted by: ferrethouse at January 2, 2006 5:29 PMFor heaven's sake! Is the media so used to scandal that they don't give stuff like this any ink?? Where is the Sun when we need it????
Posted by: AC58 at January 2, 2006 5:36 PMFerrethouse,
Re: a member of the main stream media.....
The story can't break in the MSM soon enough to suit me. Would your contact be a TV or a Print person? Seems to me CTV would be the ideal place to break this wide open. Can you give us a hint?
Priceless! Absolutely PRICELESS!
Posted by: dave at January 2, 2006 6:00 PMFerrethouse..you are to be commended for digging out this type of information. It is people like you that help to expose the vast corruption and waste by our Liberal Govt. I can`t wait till this hits the fan (MSM) and watch Paulie and Scotty Brison try and lie their way out of this one! Maybe this will be the RCMP`s #34 Liberal investigation! We are going to need a special RCMP department just to investigate the Liberal Party and their cronies.
Posted by: AlW at January 2, 2006 6:15 PMYou've got to be kidding! - Marriott Resort and Spa at Waikiki Beach No. 1 @ $97,410. and the Colonial Resort and Health Spa in Gananoque No. 2 @ $67,500.??
Not possible!
Or maybe they rented all the rooms for a week.
gellen,
Question of the Day:
How were the invoices routed for payment?
I feel a MasterCard commercial coming on...
Posted by: tomax7 at January 2, 2006 9:06 PMIt doesn't matter how much money was spent on these luxury hotels. Any amount is too much.
Most Canadians don't holiday in Hawaii and other exotic locations. They work hard and pay their taxes but the Liberals feel they can spend our money anyway they feel like especially to reward their friends.
The MSM needs to expose this theft of taxpayers' money so all Canadians can see what this corrupt Liberal party stands for.
We need change and the Liberals need to go to the Opposition benches to renew themselves and get a competent leader.
Martin is hilarious when he spews the verbal waste about the campaign clearly showing the differences between his values and Mr. Harper's values. It clearly shows that Mr. Harper possesses the values worthy of leadership, and Martin possesses no values at all. I am waiting to see if any of my neighbours will be displaying a Liberal lawn sign, it will be nice to confirm those in the neighbourhood that should never be trusted under any circumstances. My accountant lives across the street, I better not see a Librano sign there!
Posted by: Gord Brown at January 2, 2006 10:23 PMHelen, the Colonial isn't a 'luxury' m/hotel.
The amount of money spent is ludicrous for a 54-rm motel with the following highlights from their website:
54 comfortable overnight rooms with:
Private 4 piece washroom.
Some rooms have jacuzzi bathtub, fireplace, iron and ironing board, and mini-refrigerator
Premium room has a 2 person jacuzzi!
why is the MSM ignoring this one???
