Great commentary! As an avid Christmas conservative shopper I'd buy everything on the shelf except the comments on western separatism. I think it's like a Mt St. Helens waiting for enough seismic activity to blow. Presently, it looks like that seismic activity has a high probability of occurrence. Even if the neighbouring provinces of BC and Sask wouldn't join with the push to succession I'm sure the Americans would lend a helping hand.

I'm in total agreement with another regular reader that a Liberal election victory will probably spell the end of Canada with Quebec and Alberta inevitably being unable to reconcile their interests with the rest of the country.

I knew there was a reason I liked that guy.f
Whew, that man is smart.

As sad as his commentary is. It is a breathtaking read.

I was born in Winnipeg. So I like reading those guys just cause its like letters from home. Unfortunately
it can feel at times a little like a letter announcing a death in the family.

God it hurts so much to hear the truth about your country. I have said it before and I will say it again...sometimes it is just plain embarrassing to be a Canadian. Although being a Canuck is always cool.

He should be published. Everywhere. Does he have any books out?

What a great interview. I've never heard such an apt -- or funny -- description of "white liberal guilt: "It's like a dysfunctional family that buys new appliances when one son comes out of the closet, or the youngest daughter gets pregnant."

There were traces of that approach in the responses to the Yonge Street bullet-fest. Many spoke once again of the need to "empower" young people, when we all know that murdering, bragging thugs are begging for disempowerment.

Ahh yes, Raskolnikov of Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment".

It would appear that this might be the moniker of the current Liberal election campaign:

"CRIME AND PUNISHMENT"

I suppose we do have some parallels to Russian serfdom under the Tsar.

A delightful "bunker busting" interview; with picadellos for every Liberal sacred cow. The golden calf is looking a might tarnished now.

Must look at the G&M website.

El-Martin & Saada on the floor; surrounded, Martin held hostage.

Priceless look on Martin with Saada looking at Martin.

A photo-op.What a sad, puny man this Martin is. Isolated, out-of-touch: a mosque is his last refuge. Martin is a captive of his own making.>>>

Liberal Leader Paul Martin, with Economic Development Minister Jacques Saada sitting to his right, is applauded while visiting a mosque in Longueuil, Que., Friday. >>

He should be applauded -- he's got a long struggle ahead of him.

This has to be the quote of the day

"Between hydro and oil, Alberta and Manitoba could rule this country. Alberta sees that, but Manitoba is still clueless."

Posted by: the bear at December 31, 2005 8:27 AM

He made one comment about Alberta separation that if it started the feds would send the troops in. Does anyone believe that the Americans would stand by and let that happen, especially if Alberta requested assistance?? Would the troops fight their own? Somehow I dont think Ottawa would have the gonads to do it.
He is quite right though when he says there are American haters all over. Even my little section of Alberta has them, I have them for neighbours.
And the worst part they are so goddamn smug in their belief that George Bush is evil.

Send in the troops.....what troops??!!!

Rasky for PM!

Posted by: richfisher at December 31, 2005 10:57 AM

I've always found this "send in the troops" trope to be a little bit rich, coming from Canadians (particularly those who self-identify as being "on the left").  We've spent the last four decades making sure that we *can't* send in the troops, and what few we have are now located in places like Afghanistan (where they may be able to do some real good).  Getting them back here on short notice would require heavy-lift capability (which we also don't have).

In addition, there are a lot of Westerners and a veritable bucketload of Quebecois serving in the Canadian Armed Forces.  Does anyone here truly believe that those two cohorts would actually go and fight people from their own regions/provinces, particularly when, in a modern connected society, the State wouldn't be able to feed them endless bull about how their country was in some form of imminent danger?

State: "The country might dissolve!"
Cohorts: "Anyone in physical danger?  Any possibility of people dying?"
State: "Er, uh, well, no.  Unless you go in.  Then there might be some deaths."
Cohorts: "Don't take this the wrong way, but we'll pass, thanks."

I gotta say that I found this guy's comments extremely truthful. I must say, to add, that the 4 western provinces all have enough resources to rule over at least their own demains. I think Western Seperatism is the way of the future and the only route to real change in our governmental system. Anti-Americanism exists all over the entire country but I would be willing to bet the farm that the least Anti-American province is Alberta. I don't think that an attempt to send the troops to stop western separation would ever work. That's my 2 cents but that was a great read.

hi, first posting...have been reading your site and links all through Christmas and since election was called. Much more interesting, real, truthful. Shocking & unbelievable at times what we're fed by msm. Our main source of reliable information is CHQR 770 AM Calgary radio, especially Dave Rutherford (10 am - 1pm weekdays) We also get Western Standard magazine. Thank you all for your blogs helping us to unravel the lies and deceptions. The links are especially helpful to verify sources of information...a must!
Good to read "Rasky's" posting. We need to hear more from real Canadians like him who can tell it like it is for native people.

White, black, brown, yellow, purple or green - a person born in Canada IS a NATIVE of this country. Canada is a PLACE in the world, just like Turkey, Russia, Unuited States of America, Peru, Germany etc., the Lord owns the world, people with common goals rent PORTIONS of the earth and if the rent goes unpaid some other crowd rents it at a better price. Ownership of countries and properties are defined by the lifespans of individuals or societies - who owns the land mass in Pomerania, for example? The people who lived in Canada (as it is presently known) came from somewhere - where? Maybe the Inca civilization laid claim to this property at one time, or the Vikings, or the Eskimos? There is no recent written history about the land mass of Canada so we don't know how often it has changed hands. Anyone who has read about the Indian people who lived here when the people from Europe came here in the 1600s knows that there were Iriquois, Herons, Crees, Eskimos etc. and they all claimed and defended lumps of this particular land mass. Canada was NOT a unified country in those days; England MADE Canada one country!!
Now, why are Canadian citizens treated differently? Why do the left wing whackos insist that the people from MANY political jurisdictions (the diverse W. Indian people) MUST be lumped together as wards of the new political arrangement, people to be told where they will live and how they will think by a group of many different people who have merged with the others? It is bazzare!! The many different people who lived here before England and France moved in are just as diverse as the Chinese, English, German, Dutch, Americans, Spanish, Russians, etc. who moved in later.
IMO a person cannot be 1st, 2nd, or 3rd nation Canadian - if a person is born here then he/she IS a Candian. It is not a foot race question, the hour and place of birth is relevent, the hour and place of your great-great- great grandma's birth is NOT. Being born in Havana means you are Cuban NOT Spanish or British North African.
'First Nations' is redundant. I read Dust My Broom because this man has something good to say, NOT because he is an Canadian of W.Indian ancestory.

What a breath of fresh air his comments were. Having married into the native community I stand up and applaud his honesty and insight.
