I know of Sask. sons who work over 150 days a year in their home province-100 nights of hotels and 50 nights standing shivering or swatting mosquitoes beside a frac sand or nitrogen pumper. I say just try and nationalize our oil. See what happens.

I did my turn on the rigs in the late 70's and early 80's. Last two rigs I worked on, I helped clean and paint to send them south after the NEP. In the four years I was there I met people from every part of Canada.

I have just completed a very interesting exchange of emails with Mr. Potvin, of the "surround their legislature with the army" article cited by Kate in the CBC blog. He simply doesn't wish to consider that his program might be inflammatory, but wanted to frame the exchange as a "discussion of energy policy".

A clueless twit who should be spanked like an ugly, red-headed stepchild. In my last reply, I reminded him of the example of the Alamo in Texas in which Americans from the states made up the majority of the fighters and were finally able to take Texas from Mexico at the Battle of San Jacinto.

If it ever came to it, I would be honored to raise and equip a company of volunteers. It is unlikely to ever come to that but I think that Alberta would find support in all who value Liberty.

If the dark day ever comes when our friends to the north have to take a stand for Liberty, there will be a place in the First California Volunteers, Infantry, for you. Although after first contact I would advise selecting one of the .308's, as much as I admire the flat shooting qualities of the '94 in .44 cal. The NATO round is able to reach out and touch somebody a tad farther out.

You know, it just struck me, that the Canadians reading this must think this kind of talk crazy. But,I can reach back through history and identify each of my ancestors who fought for the United States beginning with two Hadley's who fought on April 19, 1775. Samuel was one the first eight killed in the initial exchange at Lexington. His son Jonathan went on to fight at Bunker Hill and beyond. Capt. George Hadley who fought in the French and Indian War regretted bitterly his infirmity that kept him out of the Revolution. Sometimes fighting for your rights is just the correct thing to do.

So true, Hungry. Many people don't realise that Texas was never beaten, bought, or bartered for. Like you said, they negotiated a treaty. They're also the only state in the union, for this reason, who's allowed to fly their flag at the same height as the Stars and Stripes on all gov't, including capitol, buildings.

As for rounds, I'd take hollow points. We're hunters up here, after all, and hunters don't take moose and white tail as prisoners...

Subjects of exclusive Provincial Legislation 92. In each Province the Legislature may exclusively make Laws in relation to Matters coming within the Classes of Subjects next hereinafter enumerated; that is to say;

NON-RENEWABLE NATURAL RESOURCES,
FORESTRY RESOURCES AND ELECTRICAL ENERGY

Laws respecting non-renewable natural resources, forestry resources and electrical energy 92A. (1) In each province, the legislature may exclusively make laws in relation to;

Taxation of resources
(4) In each province, the legislature may make laws in relation to the raising of money by any mode or system of taxation in respect of
(a) non-renewable natural resources and forestry resources in the province and the primary production therefrom,

What does the word "EXCLUSIVE" mean? What "Interpretation" could a greed-head, power mad statist make of this constitutional axiom?

I say if the anti-constitutionalist feds try to BS or muscle their way into revenue jurisdictions which are the constitutionally "exclusive" turf of the provinces that the provinces should literally blow their grasping globalist fingers off with the first scatter gun they can lay hands on...or maybe get "W" to do it for them ;-)

The US has a many provincial and NAFTA supply contracts for western oil and they may take it as a destabilizing and hostile act for a hostile rogue regime ( Yankee-hatin' Ottawa commies) putting the illegal grab on the resources of their contracted supply partners....hell Eastern commies should know this they bin screaming "it's all about oil" for so long they gotta know the US will not allow hostile rogue regimes to control this resource. ;-)

After the NEP, I vowed any other incursion into provincial oil "business" by any federal government, for any reason, would constitute a "hostile act". I would fight and I'm not even a native Albertan!

This is the consequence of the Liberals' wedge politics. It is of little concern to Paul Martin that the majority of Canadians oppose something, as long as the people who support him agree with it. By thumbing their nose at the natural inclination to send MPs to Ottawa as part of the governing party, Alberta has put itself in the cross-hairs. Look at the amount of energy being spent by the Liberals to swing B.C. voters. That's not accidental. They've concluded that is the part of the west most vulnerable to wedge politics, and they want at least one western province in which they are present in large numbers so that they can say they've solved western alienation. They haven't.

Could someone explain to me why Alberta is rolling in $ and Saskatchewan isn't?
There is a huge oil reserve in Sask. Is it a provincial policy to be on Federal welfare? Are profits siphoned off by Regina? What's going on?

During WW2, my father was in a prisoner of war camp. A Canadian one, at Kananaskas. After the war he signed up with the Canadian militia because he understood that a citizenry that is unable to defend itself against invaders is, well, unable to defend itself against its government.

Fast forward. I am working as an engineer in the oil patch. I remember the NEP and losing my job. I remember losing my savings due to crashing stock prices. I choose to work in Canada because I (used to) love this country.

Should nationalization of our oil patch occur, I have two choices; go overseas or stand and fight against what I see as incipient insanity similar to what my father told me Nazi Germany was like.
