A couple of weeks ago I noted that Bruce Willis had been spending time in Iraq with "Deuce Four", made famous by blogger and embed extraordinaire, Michael Yon. If you're one of the newer arrivals to the blogosphere, I highly recommend you read his archives.
Now, Willis is putting his money where his mouth is;
ANGERED by negative portrayals of the conflict in Iraq, Bruce Willis, the Hollywood star, is to make a pro-war film in which American soldiers will be depicted as brave fighters for freedom and democracy. It will be based on the exploits of the heavily decorated members of Deuce Four, the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry, which has spent the past year battling insurgents in the northern Iraqi town of Mosul.
[...]
“I am baffled to understand why the things I saw happening in Iraq are not being reported,” he told MSNBC, the American news channel.
He is expected to base the film on the writings of the independent blogger Michael Yon, a former special forces green beret who was embedded with Deuce Four and sent regular dispatches about their heroics.
Yon was at the soldiers’ ball with Willis, who got to know him through his internet war reports on www.michaelyon.blogspot.com. “What he is doing is something the American media and maybe the world media isn’t doing,” the actor said, “and that’s telling the truth about what’s happening in the war in Iraq.”

Ronald Reagan, Charlton Heston, Tom Selleck, Bruce Willis.
You really can count them on the fingers of one hand.
Posted by: surly at November 27, 2005 12:08 AMI like to think Mel Gibson is in that list too, though he's not as outspoken about his political views. He's certainly a social conservative though.
But back to Bruce... I truly admire this guy. Integrity just oozes from every pore. Gary Sinise and Ron Silver as well. They will be remembered as true patriots.

Posted by: Knight of Good Mr. Iron Man at November 27, 2005 2:41 AMI think maybe Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger might fit on the list as well.
I will see that movie .. pay to have others see it and buy it when it comes out of disk.
Willis is a rare one in the entertainment biz...but if you look at his work it's easy to see why he's more "righty" than "lefty". Even the movie that catapulted his star into the stratosphere, "Die Hard", had him battling European terrorists.
I doubt his movie on Iraq is going to portray him as a misunderstood cross dressing sexual identity confused fragily minded conscientious objecting pacifist that joins the military because he's so attracted to the macho forbidden fruit of his Unit's commander. That role would be filled by Sean Penn.

Posted by: Fred at November 27, 2005 11:10 AM"We *can* make a difference here, and i believe in the mission as it looks on paper. But your president and his brain-dead colleagues aren't even trying to give us what we need to do it. the add-on armor HMMWVs are a joke. The terrorists target them b/c they know they offer no protection. The M1114s have good armor, but every time we lose one (i had one blown up monday, driver had his femoral artery cut -- will recover fully -- b/c there apparently is no armor or very weak armor under the pedals) it's impossible to replace them. So now I have to send yet another add-on armored vehicle outside the wire daily. The M1114s also have certain mechanical defects, known to the manufacturer, for which there is apparently no known fix. For example, on some of them (like mine) if it stalls or you turn it off, you cannot restart it if the engine is hot. We have to dump 3 liters of cold water on a solenoid in order to start it again. Not that much fun when your vehicle won't start in indian country."
Posted by: steve not in ontario at November 27, 2005 2:05 PMTed Nugent. I caught an interview with him and his wife on CNBC. They talked a bit about what it like to be a right winger in the music business.
He's well worth listening to.
Charlie Daniels is another conservative in the music biz as well and fairly outspoken.

When on the topic of hunting he was asked if he thought animals had rights and of course gave the standard answer, "They have the right to garlic and butter".
