PHOEBE: What when Yeller saves the family from the wolf and everyone's happy?

RACHEL: That's not the end.

PHOEBE: Yu-huh. That's when my mother would shut off the TV and say 'The end'.

MONICA: What about the part where he has rabies?

PHOEBE: He doesn't have rabies, he has babies. That's what my mom said.

RICHARD: Uh, Phoebe, I don't think your mom would want you to see what's about to happen.

PHOEBE: What, what's about to happen? [starts watching] I've never seen this part before. Hey, Travis, watcha doin' with that gun? Oh no, no no Travis, put down the gun. No no no no, ...

I will take it that it is a metaphor, but if it's from a movie called Old Yeller, I have not seen that one.

And Spike, I have used metaphor that others didn't get, but I had the courtesy and respect to explain.
Your mother and whatever government school you went to failed you miserably.

I couldn't figure it out either, but my daughter knew right away. It's from that awful "Friends" tv show. Phoebe, Rachel and Ross are characters in the show.

BTW, I think Phoebe is the cutest of the three girls. Not too bright, but, mmmmm....

Okay, Kate, I give up. Who is Rosemary? I remember some of that Friends episode because my daughter never had the pleasure of seeing that old Disney flick, but rosemary?

BTW, I enjoyed the article by Laurie Hawn. If I am not mistaken is this the former Colonel and fighter jock that took me for a CF-18 ride way back in Winnipeg (1980's)? Only filled one bag but sure did have fun. He is a straight shooter with the proverbial pen as well then.

So much for memory lane....sigh

Great commentary by Laurie H. Is he running against the screetcher again? If he is, he will certainly be a welcome improvement.

BTW Duke, I often miss some of the great humour on this site because I don't watch much T.V. and I hardly ever go to movies. The teachers in schools today are trained to give 'questioners' nasty, sarcastic replies like the one you got from Spike (because they don't know the answer or because they can't explain the answer).
You went to a school where the students asked questions and were praised for doing so; Spike is a product of the 'preachin teachin' of today's so called schools.
