Banned For Life

Paul Martin has applied the "Public Safety and Anti-Terrorism" model to purge the the Liberal Party of Canada of Adscam suspects;

However, party officials admitted yesterday that only three of the 10 people that Mr. Martin banned for life from the Liberal Party of Canada for their role in the sponsorship scandal are still members of the party.

Nor does it appear that Mr. Martin can arbitrarily toss them out. Under the constitution of the party's Quebec wing, the party's board of directors can suspend or revoke a membership in the party, but only after giving the member notice as well as a hearing.

The party is also checking to see if it can even legally ban someone for life.

Of course, it could have been worse - he might have created a Canadian Liberal Registry.

What if?

What if one of the banned for life 10 decided that belonging to the Liberal Party of Canada was a fundamental human right?

How would that go down on Mr. Democratic Deficit - you know the one - who said it was his job to protect the minorities from the oppression of the majority?

Banned for Life Canadian style is like sentenced to life in a Canuckistan prison... only as long as the memory of the parole board. And Hell yes, ban the old Golf Ball Goofball from Shindlegan.

It doesn't matter whether any of the 10 are members of the LPC or if Martin can expel them.

What does matter is that he can say, over and over, that he banned these people and the corruption problems have been fixed for a generation.

Very few, if any, reporters will have a WTF? moment and call bullshit. They will dutifully report that Martin banned the 10 and Canadians will go back to sleep, knowing that Martin clearly cares about them. And that Stephen Harper is still scary.

Being banned for life from the liberal party sounds like a neat idea- where do I apply, and how much does it cost? Do they supply t-shirts, etc.? Perhaps some kind of scroll thing, that could be framed and hung on my wall? (The feds could make a lot of money on this.) Do the feds supply a tax-payer funded LAWYER to apply for this?

What a lie that is. If Paulie had really applied that Public safety & A.T. model to purge the party of suspects there would have red alerts flashing for 50 percent and that's a hell of a lot more than from 3 to 10 people.

There will be no passing of dubious generalities for us to swallow in a trance like state the Libranos can often induce.

They are in the last throws of desperation and will resort to any distortion to extend their term.

That effort is getting really sloppy with Brison's wrongful smear of Harper and imagined lobbying badness.What a total dipstick. TG

Got $500 to spare? November 14th, you could attend a get together for Big Paulie and discuss issues that most affect Canadians today. Harper points out that this is proof the Libs have learned nothing. Selling influence at $500 a pop. My bet is, Jack Layton will be first to sit on Santa Paulie's knee. I mean, $500 is a bargain for more time in the spotlight.
