I'm actually back in Canada from the UK for a week. I've had a got a good chuckle out of some of the mean-spirited grumbling over Albertans scooping up the prize.

What is it about lotteries people don't get?

It doesn't matter whether the winner lives in Dildo, Newfoundland or Creemore, Ontario. It doesn't matter whether the winner is rich or poor.

It's a lottery!

I just read from the CTF that BC Gov. employs 10% of the population. 37 Billion in debt and climbing.

Just about every major union we have has been on strike this summer for more more more. Teachers, Health workers telephone people etc. Then they whine when someone else does well because of hard work and prudence.

Finally someone lucks out and now there howling from the Bell towers.

Go figure.

Oh and I saw on some blog last night that a bunch of people want to get into a trade war with the US. Sell the Oil to China. Man the the American excess demand has been coming to Canada for a long time. So much so that we have essentially no economy without selling something to the US.
Canada is a branch plant economy, cheap labour. Ont exsists within about 1000 miles of 100,000,000 American consumers.
And these idiots now want to make matters worse by biting the hand that feeds them.
If they actually wanted a robust economy they wouldn't all be dependent on government largesse.
Cutting taxes the government only paying for the important stuff. Not directly or indirectly trying to buy off half the population and the other half dependent on a cheap Canadian $ and companies not having to pay the health care bill for the rest.

It's not just about lotteries, it's about everything.

It's a hold over from childhood. You know how kids are when one plays with a toy, then suddenly the other kid wants it too. You are forced to hand it over so you must go get another toy, then they want that one too and on it goes.

By adult standards, that behavior is literally insane. Yet, in Canada, that is the behavior of our so-called adults. That is the behaviour of Socislists. They can't stand to see anyone have more than they have.

Many of us outgrow that tendancy, but in the socialist world where no one wants to get their own stuff (too risky, scary, difficult) .. that is the way they get their stuff. From others!!!
(It's easy .. steal it through taxation and entitlements .. just vote in the extortionists, kiss their asses and whine a lot).

This is why they are such an unhappy lot. If I didn't earn a living on my own steam with a meaningful job, but rather lived on others peoples hard earned money, I would be unhappy too. That would be human nature. Something Liberals in are in deep denial over.

But I digress.

One's future is too important to gamble on a lottery. It's better to earn more than you spend, on a regular long-term basis. Unfortunately, many folks seem to have forgotten that, betting instead their hopes on the future of the welfare state. That's a mistake. Better to move some after-tax resources off-shore.

After all, it is possible that at some time in the future State Canada will "nationalize" everyone's personal private after-tax savings, in which case all the in-border options go down the toilet.

Not to worry people. Commie "Chucky Cheese" Adler proposed on his show today that nobody in the province of AB. be allowed to buy anymore lotto tickets. As if our fiscal responsibility and hard work has anything to do with winning a game of pure luck.

I listened to Adler today. He was actually very peeved about how the media linked "already oil rich Alberta" and the Lotto winners. He very tongue in cheek mused whether if a referendum was held would the rest of Canada would be in favour of not allowing Albertans to buy Lotto tickets. You either didn't hear the whole show or you are portaying his comment completely out of context for some reason.
One other thing no one has commented on is that there is a good chance the winners may have moved to Alberta from other parts of the country to work in the oil patch. If they were originally from the east I wonder if Mcleans and the people in the east would okay with that. Just so long as it wasn't a "real Albertan".

MacLLLeans is part of the conspiracy to take the "o" out of this country.
