Sean:
I'd like to nominate a post you did on Polspy. Unfortunately, all I can remember about it is that it was great and had to do with alcoholism, drug addiction and judging others. Ring a bell? I wish I'd saved it. I think at the time, I called it one of the posts of the year. The fact that my memory of it is so sketchy is more a reflection on my failing intellectual faculties than the post. Is it retrievable?
Posted by: Occam's Carbuncle at October 4, 2005 7:28 PMI'd like to nominate Sean The NDP Voting Gay Rights Extremist From The Very Left Wing Anti-CPC Anti-Harper Blog Called PolSpy in the Moonbat category. Alternatively, Sean can extend me the same courtesy he did Richard Evans, and kindly leave my (inactive) blog out of the "Moon" "Bat" category, please. I am a small c conservative and do not belong there. Thank you very much, and have a nice day.

Occam, I've still got the post on disk, but I'd rather not have anything of mine in the contest as it would look, um, bad.
"I'd like to nominate Sean The NDP Voting Gay Rights Extremist From The Very Left Wing Anti-CPC Anti-Harper Blog Called PolSpy in the Moonbat category."
I'm having a good day. I've managed to get called a homophobe by someone on the left and get called a 'gay rights extremist' by someone on the right within a 24 hour period. I must be doing something right if I'm ticking everyone off.
FYI, here are the reasons I voted NDP in the last Alberta election:
1) There was no SPA candidate in my riding.
2) The Alberta Alliance candidate was an inbred twat. Worse, having been Mormon at one time, I'm well enough acquainted with Randy Thorenstein to know *exactly* what I'd be getting if he was voted in as premier. I have *some* scruples, dude.
3) I made the mistake of listening to Kevin Taft speak once, and now I break into giggle fits whenever I hear his name. No way I can vote for that.
4) I was left with a choice between Ralph Klein and Brian Mason. Seeing how Klein blows through taxpayer cash, Mason actually looked like the safer choice.
Posted by: Sean at October 4, 2005 7:44 PMOf course I'd like to nominate fighting for taxpayers for best new canadian blog. And yes, it's shameless self-promotion.

Posted by: Occam's Carbuncle at October 4, 2005 10:38 PMYour choices are disappointing and, quite frankly, weird. Some things in this world are beyond argument.
PowerLine-best American blog and best blog of any kind. Captain's Quarters is a close second.
The Fourth Rail- best Iraq war blog. If you aren't reading this daily, you haven't a clue as to how the war is being won.
ScrappleFace- best humour- dealing with the moronic left in the only way that makes sense. Dismissing them with satire and ridicule
Andrew Coyne-Best Canadian blog before being threatened with a libel action
Posted by: Terry Gain at October 4, 2005 10:45 PMI'm happy in the moonbat categoty... If I'm not ranting about them, I'm baiting them and beating them sensless... Oh, yeah, I've got really cool "anti-moonbat" audio as well. I'd probably fit into some of the other categories, but I'd rather stay where I have a chance...
WTF? Who the hell are YOU?
Back to topic.
Agreed can-andrew, LGF is top notch and ranks in the top 3.
A couple of other notes: Scrappleface is PARODY not politics.
And Andrew Sullivan moved into the Moonbat category early last year in case you hadn't noticed.
Posted by: Doug at October 4, 2005 10:59 PMWe got nominated! We got nominated! While we may be far from being the best political blog, I think it's safe to assume we are the best monarchist blog. But I see there's no category for that.
In my opinion, Andrew Coyne has been the best Canadian blog overall (when he had the comments), though his blogging unfortunately tends to be somewhat intensely seasonal. Best sound-byte blog goes to Occam's Carbuncle, before we lost the friggin link. Best wickedly antagonistic blog goes to Warren Kinsella hands down. Best Anglosphere blog goes to Mark Steyn. Best political blogs go to SDA and AGWN. Best politician blog goes to Monte Solberg. Best Blogging Tory blog goes to Stephen Taylor...

You are of course right Mark so long as the incomparable Mr. Steyn is a blogger. I think of him more as a one man industry: humourist, historian, art and culture critic, and author of the most insightful (and inciteful) world wide political analysis.
Steyn is clearly in a league of his own; which makes it all the more remakable that 99% of Canadians have never heard of him.

FRIDAY LATE AFTERNOON
Here are the terms of David Dingwall's severance package.
MONDAY
David Dingwall has agreed to forfeit his severance package.
WEDNESDAY
We have no comment on Mr. Dingwall's lawsuit. The matter is before the courts."
And my comment:
'Thursday: "Dingwall Reported Held in Syria
David Dingwall, the recently resigned head of the Royal Canadian Mint, has been reported as being held in Syrian custody. The former Canadian Ambassador to Syria, Mr Franco Pillarella, has been appointed by Prime Minister Paul Martin as his special representative for this matter and is urgently requesting information from the Syrian authorities."'

Most unsung blog:
MKBraaten.com
His blogging on the accountability of foundations from an accountant's perspective is the most under rated blog post in Canada.
Also, while his headline is misleading, his blog entry on the CBC possibly scuttling a story on Liberal corruption still stands out and is relevant even now.
And dammit, I'm nominating myself for the best new Canadian blog for doing the first survey of Canadian bloggers - evAr.
Not bad for a noob.
And I think I'm pretty effin' funny too, so I'll nominate myself for one of the funniest blogs - next to BlamBlog, which is noticeably absent from this list.

I think you should use the surveymonkey.com tool and have people enter the exact web url of their favorite blog. It also prevents people from voting twice.
