Two Americans are dead and three Canadians injured in the Bali terrorist blast that killed at least 25 and injured 100.
CBC News: Three Canadians injured in Bali bombings (CBC News)
Three Canadians have been reported injured in Saturday's Bali explosions. Dan McTeague, the parliamentary secretary to the minister of foreign affairs, says three Canadians were in one of the cafes, and suffered minor injuries. They have been treated at a clinic and released. At least 25 people were killed and 100 are injured during two simultaneous attacks Saturday. The blasts hit two packed seafood restaurants in Jimbaran beach and a bustling tourist shopping centre 30 kilometres away in downtown Kuta. The attacks come almost three years to the day when bombings in Kuta killed 202, including two Canadians.
Those bombings, and two other subsequent bombings in Jakarta that killed at least 23, have been blamed on a group called Jemaah Islamiyah, which has been linked to al-Qaeda.Indonesian President Suslio Bambang Yudhoyono has warned that more attacks could happen. "We will hunt down the perpetrators and bring them to justice," he promised. He warned people to be on alert.
Two Americans have been reported dead, and the United States has condemned the bombings on and offered to help. "The United States stands with the people and government of Indonesia as they work to bring to justice those responsible for these acts of terrorism," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in a statement. "We will continue to work together in our common fight against terror."
One wonders what they have in mind in terms of a battle plan.

A "DOS" of Reality from Cannuckistan Chronicles
I wouldn't normally put something like this up but these are the same sort of people who created the recent carnage in Bali. If I understand it correctly, the video itself is designed for desensification and to show the glory of victory. I see no glo... [Read More]

Thank God we'll never see a horrible event like this Bali bombing on Canadian soil because we are just too darned nice to attack. Annie and Paul are looking after us.
Posted by: BCer at October 1, 2005 5:58 PMSorry to rain in on your mistaken belief that Paul and Annie can, or even will, protect you. Before you place too much confidence in them - talk to Tony and his socialist brothers and sisters in Britain about how inviting the viper into his bed kind of back-fired.
No, I’m afraid Paul and company will only protect you just as long as it doesn’t interfere with the self-masturbatory euphoria that comes from being the friend of everyone that is a sworn enemy of the US.
As far as Indonesia is concerned, they will spend more effort in prosecuting the war on Western tourists who have the audacity to try and bring soft drugs into the country while on holiday, than they would take the time to stem the violence directed at tourists. For all we know the bombing could even be committed by the police in an effort to get rid of Westerners.
One need only compare and contrast the treatment metered out to recent arrests for drugs versus the so-called perpetrators of the first Bali bombings. The ‘drug criminals’ are being threatened with the death penalty, while they look for every loophole in their sordid single page constitution to let the bombers free.

"It'll never happen"
Cockeyed Optimist, I think BCer was being a little sarcastic.
Posted by: qwerty at October 1, 2005 9:16 PMVintage CBC, strike or not. Two Americans are dead, but why mention that? My God, THREE CANADIANS WERE INJURED! Of course, why should a Canadian network in oh-so-multicultural Canada care if two Americans died? Canadians only care about the three injured Canucks right?
Posted by: Raging Ranter at October 1, 2005 9:56 PMAnd yes, they did mention it as an after-thought in the final paragraph, but still, it's obvious what their priorities are.
Posted by: Raging Ranter at October 1, 2005 9:57 PM3 injured Canadians calls for a full blown "memorial service". Paulie better have the Challenger (Air Farce One) gassed up and ready to go.
Posted by: Eskimo at October 1, 2005 10:05 PMIt's not so much that the Screech and PMPM are protecting us,as BCer pointed out quite nicely and sarcastically..lol. In their own stupid little way, they are.By allowing all most every criminal/terrorist group in the world to set up shop in Canuckistan, they are inadvertantly protecting us. Even maniacs don't shit in their home turf, which we are very obliginly(sp?) allowing Kanada to become. So take hope.We are safe,as long as the evil CPC doesn't get into power.(Ummmmmm...wonder why Scottie-boy hasn't thought of this line yet to use in the next election?)
Posted by: Justthinkin at October 1, 2005 10:05 PMwhat do you mean Paul and the the Libs cant protect you?
they are protecting the Khadr family right now.
Posted by: cal2 at October 1, 2005 10:21 PMcal2 - that is precisely my point, the socialist will go to any lengths to protect every last criminal boat-person (read illegal immigrant) and the rest of us can screw off. Unless of course we can contribute to the liberal euphoria!!!

'Things will of course will be better tomorrow??'
Wow, sarcasm blows right past this crowd.

Posted by: Riley Metcalfe at October 2, 2005 2:25 AMPlease no more sob stories from another Canadian who'll be claiming that Foreign Affairs offered no assistance to fly them back to Canada first-class.
No more interviews with 'so called' Canadians who haven't set foot on Canadian soil or paid Canadian taxes over the past 20 years; or from Canadians who lived in Canada just long enough to obtain a Canadian passport, and then hop on the next plane back home; or interviews with Canadians who even after travel warnings continue to be issued, still decide to put themselves & their families at risk by accepting those foreign assignments for those extra hardship & danger-pay dollars; or those Canadian perverts who choose places like Indonesia to retire soley because of the lax child prostitution laws.
Posted by: JM at October 2, 2005 6:27 AMI just want to know how they're going to "hunt down the perpetrators." I thought they were suicide bombers. They're dead.
Posted by: Candace at October 2, 2005 11:26 AMThe "perps" aren't the dead ones carrying out the terrorist acts...those jihadist automatons are just the "useful idiots". The "perps" are the ones that slink away into their hidden well equipped fox holes to plan the next round of murders to keep raising the fear levels within democratic societies. The "perps" are the ones that would replace those democratic societies with one of repression and intolerance, dishing out brutal punishments at their discretion and pleasure. The "perps" are the bullies and anyone else they can have dominion over is fair game. The "perps" are the ones most likely to cower and whimper for mercy when they're finally smoked out and discovered.
O.K. everyone, let's give'em mercy.
