Camp Pavewalk Turns Political

As the CBC lockout enters its fourth week, the pavement pounding writers, producers and reporters are beginning to share their inner thoughts. The Black Rod has been collecting the most inspiring passages.

"J.T." - Writer and producer living in Parkdale;

.... you have to give Kayne credit for standing up and saying what the media and many politicans have been saying all this week: "George Bush does not care about black people."

CBC radio reporter Jennifer Quesnel from Regina;
"My gold star today goes to Bill Doskoch , for a wonderful round-up and news story excerpts . They detail the way Hurricane Katrina proved the U.S. federal government lies . And, the way reporters have finally found the guts to expose those lies."

"Tania" in Toronto refers her readers to Michael Moore. "Mark", a researcher in Halifax, finds his inspiration in Ted Rall. Not familiar with Rall? He's a cartoonist.

John, a contract producer in Vancouver, shares this;

"If our healthcare system needs fixing, here is the solution: let's all pay a bit more in taxes. I know the usual assholes (http://www.fraserinstitute.ca/} will whine about what a pain in the ass that is, but when they get sick, they can take comfort in the fact that it was money well spent."

"CBC Drome" lets his bias slip, too, while explaining how to win the support of Canadians;
"...we need to tell the story in a way that engages Canadians and moves them to action. We could tell them it's about contracts, and job security, and nurturing public broadcasting values. All true but not exactly grabby. But if we tell them it's a story about how a group of fanatical managers hijacked a national institution, and wasted hundreds of millions of dollars trying to impose a bizarre neo-con cult of management on their employees..."

The Black Rod sums things up nicely;

Anti-American? Check
Anti-business? Check
Anti-Conservative Party? Check

Remember, these are the folks who covered the last national election. They covered the Gomery Commission. They covered the Conservative Party convention and the House of Commons leading up to the non-confidence votes of the Spring. Would you expect fair and balanced reporting from this bunch? Will you expect it next time?

Well, they're not entirely anti-American. Their "strike" pay is calculated in US dollars.

GOMERY SETS SIGHTS ON KEY LIBERALS

By DANIEL LEBLANC

Saturday, September 10, 2005 Page A1

OTTAWA -- Mr. Justice John Gomery is concerned that federal officials may have corrupted the "non-partisan and professional character of the civil service" and tilted the sponsorship program in favour of "advertising agencies that donated to the Liberal Party of Canada," inquiry documents show.

In addition, Judge Gomery has indicated he may find that the sponsorship program was managed in a way that "lacked transparency and failed to optimize resources."

The information is contained in letters in which Judge Gomery has warned a number of bureaucrats and Liberal officials that he could slap them with a finding of misconduct in his final report, asking them to respond to his allegations. >>more

So like, why is George Bush expected to "care" about black people anymore than he cares about any faceless group in any society. In order to care for someone it's pretty much manditory you have some sort of affection for them through some sort of connection such as family or personal friendships etc.
These people who "feel" that we should all "care" about those very people who time and again demonstrate that they don't even care about themselves, and whom we don't even know personally should put their own "caring feelings" in ass and let the rest of us function in a realistic manner. Perhaps then problems can be solved.
I swear, this society (US and Canada) is like one big high school cafetria. The emotional level is strickly juvenile demonstrated by the "are too" "am not" arguments over absolutely every little item.
It appears that we are part of the first generation that has not found it necessary to grow up. No wonder nothing runs like it's supposed to ... adult looking children are in charge. Spoiled children too! Selfish, self-absorbed, vain, greedy little socialists who cannot possibly be pleased ... only appeased ... temporarily. Appeasement is always temporary ... that is it's nature. A stalling tactic .. nothing more. Black people love using the victim card, like the aboriginals and now immigrants, women have done it for years, Gays do it ... lebians do it ... even CBC workers are starting to do it. There's a song in there somewhere.
The tough medicine will apply itself eventually, since no one has balls anymore and will not or cannot do what needs to be done.
Perhaps we all are right where we deserve to be.

The CBC ceased to matter years ago. I care about them as far as I can piss. Well maybe not that much.

How challenged is *JT*, writer and producer living in Parkdale? Has he never noticed Bush's right hand woman? Guess that's just a deep tan eh? What a dipstick. I would settle the strike now, simply to clean out all the lightbulbs like *JT* and hire real people. '3s TG

They're only anti-American until they can get hired down south.

DukeMcgoo, you're pretty jaundiced there kid. There is lot of truth in what you say though. Playing the victim card; It's a matter of percentages. Some groups more, some less.

Aboriginals are playing it less as they get in gear and start enjoying the game, running various businesses, making money hand over fist.

I kinda like your statement, * Nobody has balls any more and will not or can not do what has to be done*.

Well that's you pal. ..and I guess it's me too.

We should have this figured out by now. How to focus our collective conservativeness.

We all agree, but we just don't focus for the leverage and power that's waiting to be picked up and used.

*Harper talking tough on crime* Canadian Press, today Sept 9/ 2005. Speaking in Surrey, BC.

That's a start.. eh? About time too!

I would have chosen Whistle-Blower Protection bill C-11, see: BendGovt.blog.ca . It will be far more effective in fixing the rot in Ottawa's foundations. 73s TG

I drop my wife across from CBC mothership headquarters every working day on my way to my office and sometimes pick her up.
About three weeks ago the strikers cut a deal with the Toronto Parking Authority to allow them to park anywhere they wanted (free of course), no parking zones including bus stops.
I guess when they had their $150/month free parking passes cancelled they had to find some entitled spots for their SUV's.
It was a disaster waiting for a victim .
Cars were forced to double and triple park at the peak times of traffic flow and people were stepping into traffic blind behind the CBC motorhomes and triple parked cabs, delivery vans and trucks.
I rolled my window down as I was parked on the sidewalk of the 'circle of death" and tried to mention to some of the strikers that they were'nt doing themselves any favours by parking their cars the way they were, and when someone gets clipped by a passing car it would be their fault to some degree .
The first thing I heard from the group of 5 or 6 placard carriers was " well maybe that person that crosses the street should be paying more attention or hang up their cell phone when crossing"
No kidding .
I could only make out after that from the handfull of CBC crybabies (because they were all speaking loudly over each other) was "Mine Mine Mine"

Hey, what's wrong with Ted Rall? He's an American cartoonist who dares to take on his president. He's funny and he draws well. What's wrong with a Canadian liking him?

"Has he never noticed Bush's right hand woman? Guess that's just a deep tan eh?"

So what does prove? Bush has a token right-wing lick-spittle who happens to be a black woman. That proves nothing.

"Well, they're not entirely anti-American. Their "strike" pay is calculated in US dollars."

Exactly Kate. In fact, their union, the CMG [Canadian Media Guild]is a local of The Newspaper Guild of Canada which is, in turn, a branch of the Communication Workers of America, headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Unionized CBC workers rejected being part of the CEP, 100% Canadian, in December 2003 to instead be part of an American union.

Token right-wing lick spittle? I think your last spoon bending backfired on your brain. If you're gonna troll bring your A game instead of vacuous commie rhetoric, doofus!

Uri,

Read her resume sometime. She's hardly a token anything.

Tony G,

We agree on a lot of stuff and coincidentally live only about an hour apart. Love this Island.

Uri, when you respect, work with and depend on someone, you can not avoid an empathy for that person's world. It's human nature. Otherwise you demote or remove that person. Lick-spittle ? Never against the wind Uri. Go wash up. 73s TG

While that little inspiring piece of Ted Rall's "art" is totally disgusting,the real sad part is that it isn't anywhere near the worst sample of his pathetic little warped mind..Try looking up some of his 9-11 strips,particularilly his take on some of the widows of that attack........I used to have his site on my favourites list ,just so I could get inspired by the sheer mindlessness of the Left..But it got just too,too sick to take ,anymore.

what's wrong with Ted Rall? He's an American cartoonist who dares to take on his president.

All together now: oooooooh. Wow, what guts. I'm impressed. I mean, there are only, what, 11,336,473 other artists and writers taking on the President, with multiple, well-distributed fora for comment.

Geez. It must be hard to take such a Courageous Stand with so few compatriots, and with the coercive power of the State poised to do absolutely nothing to you.

An American cartoonist who dares to make fun of his President? I am not impressed.
A muslim who stands up to hate filled power structure, now that would impress me.
