Why is CBC engaged in numerous businesses which are NOT broadcasting via over-the-air transmission? In May, SinoCanada, a subsidiary of Chinese oil giant China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., invested $119 million for a 40% stake in Synenco's Northern Lights oil sands project. Look for China's CNOOC Ltd. to make another investment after they failed to pick up Unocal Corp. I'm sure the Americans notice this and will want to upstage the Chinese.

Anybody taking notice of the price of propane compared to gasoline? Still the same difference as always. Even though people will tell you it will eventually be the same price as gasloine, it never will be. In the Lower Mainland and most of BC the current price for gasoline bounces between $113.2 and 98.4. Most of the time it's the former. Propane just went up to about $0.579 but is still a hell of a lot less than gasoline. I converted a small block 350 GM in a 3/4 ton Chevy during the late 70s and drove it for about 6 or 7 years. Loved it. Mileage is the same after factoring in energy content, efficiency, etc. Started easily in bitter cold weather and didn't even have to prime it. Just touch the starter and go.

BTW, seeing as I'm off topic anyway, have any of you heard about the process of cryogenically freezing auto engines? Several engineers at NASCAR started freezing their engines to -300 degrees celcius about 4 or 5 years ago and are getting a whole season before having to rebuild, compared to having to rebuild after each race. Lower operating temps, less friction and better mileage. In some instances a LOT better mileage I hear.

I think I mentioned this awhile back and Kate said she used to do the same. I liked her comment about it looking like the shuttle when it was up on the hoist, what with all the tanks she strapped on.

I agree with you, John. Which is ironic, since I operate a specialty coffee factory. I'm Production Manager and Roastmaster all at once. My coffee has been enjoyed by the likes of Preston and Sandra Manning, Stockwell Day, other MPs and senators, even GG Clarkson, who actually came back for more later. One summer a movie was being filmed locally and Mary Walsh and Sheila McCarthy were in every day for cappuccino. Hard to keep all that from going to my head. Betcha no one on SDA has ever sipped Haitian coffee. But I have roasted it and sold it for $20 a pound. It's actually illegally smuggled out of Haiti by two missionaries (I've met them) who actually risk their lives to help the poor people of that bloody dictatorship island. The coffee I've received has been usually awesome and sometimes horrible, but that's the way it is with coffee in Haiti.
