That's only a start. Take a look at how many EDAs the airport authority donated to. They're just one of many non-profits donating exclusively to the Liberals.

$1,000 dollar donation doesn't get you much pull in federal politics. I'm really not sure why this is even a topic.

$1000 donation doesn't get one far in federal politics - but 100 of them do.

Same pattern is repeated over and over again - small donations from sources that one would think would steer clear of formal politics, virtually all of them to Liberals. Never enough to trigger a media frenzy....

But start adding them up.

Well, according to recent revelations less than $1000 a year spread over 3 or 4 years gets you a judgeship in Quebec.

Bang on...this stuff is ridiculous. You get municipalities, airport authorities, crown corps etc donating.

They should be banned from sending money. The Municipalities and federally regulated entities should all be BANNED from contribuiting hard or soft money.

Bell, Rogers, the airlines, any crown corp and municipal or federal government should all be relieved of the option. It creates too much of potential for conflict AND is just plain stupid. For crying out loud one level of government isnt allowed to tax another, why would they be allowed to make poilitical contributions.

Anyone organization who receives federal money in the form of a loan or grant should be banned from contributing anything to federal politics or politicians.

Of course the biggest donation to the Liberals is delivered via the MSM. The daily assaults we have become all to familiar with demonstrate the political philanthropic journalism of the MSM. No doubt the MSM are recipients of Liberal advertising contracts and other favours in return for such political generosity?

Breaking rumour about the Liberal cabinet shuffle:

I heard something very very strange - but who knows these days.

That the "deal" between the Liberals and NDP is about to become a formal coalition with members of the NDP, specifically Jack Layton, being appointed to cabinet. Hence the cabinet shuffle to make room for the new coaltion members.
If that is true so much for all the years of hard work AGAIN by the Liberal backbenchers. For Cabinet only traitors need apply?

Could THIS really be the nudge nudge wink wink napkin deal in the hotel room between PM and Jack?

If true

1) Kiss NDP support in Quebec good bye

2) You may see some Liberal members defecting to the tories since their chances are totally gone

3) Watch the right wing of the Liberal party turn pale.

4) Watch bay street freak out...dollar will fall...etc etc

Those words speak volumes about the apathy of a great deal of Canadians. First of all, that $1000 wasn't their money, it was yours and I don't know about you but it takes me a while to earn a grand. Ans secondly, just how much of a crime has to be commited before it is a topic?
I am just glad there are still people like Kate that give a **** about their country.

MK Bratten, it was more than $1000 donations, as I detailed on my blog, there are 3 additional donations related to the same director at the GTAA. Those donations total $14,000. With the original $1000, that's $15,000.

.. and, as Kate said, we're talking about a clear pattern of behaviour, not isolated donations.

And I thought it was only Calgary Zoo that was dumb enough to use taxpayer dollars to donate to the Lieberal party!

It should also be noted that the former PC and Reform weren't exactly clean in this regard - they just weren't as good as the Liberals at shaking loose the money.

I think it's a no-brainer that it should be against the law for anyone who has donated to a federal party to receive government money. Such a restriction would go a long way towards cutting the feedback loop that defines corruption.

How were the figures entered on the books? Asset or expense? Did you receive a tax-deductible receipt.

Who made the motion to send the contributions? Seconder? Was the motion carried unanimously?
Date of the motion? Results of the vote? Amounts?
