Librano Position On Chinese Espionage: "It's A Free Country"

Canada is beginning to recognize the depth of Communist China's espionage in the Great White North. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) mostly rehashed the accounts of Chen Yonglin and Hao Fengjun regarding Communist overseas spy networks, but added that Hao "says Canada has more spies operating in it than any other country." Jillian Ye, a resident of Scarborough, Ontario, certainly believes that, after seeing one of the documents Hao smuggled out with him "detailed Ye's plans to start a communications company" (Epoch Times). No fewer than four members of the opposition Conservative Party, including foreign affairs critic Stockwell Day, deputy leader Peter MacKay (Hansard) Jason Kenney (Hansard) and Helena Guergis (Hansard), pressed the governing Liberals on this issue in Parliament. Meanwhile, the editors of the British Columbian Asian-Pacific Post demanded to know why the Canadian firm Nortel is helping the cadres' crackdown on cyberdissidents.

Mr. Stockwell Day (Okanagan--Coquihalla, CPC): Mr. Speaker, a few months ago, when we raised the possibility of Chinese espionage in Canada, the government did not seem concerned in the least. Now a second Chinese defector is claiming that there is an operational network on Canadian soil.Has the government called on Chinese officials here in Canada to get a full explanation, yes or no?
Hon. Pierre Pettigrew (Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lib.): Mr. Speaker, we are always in touch with Chinese officials in the capital. We discuss a number of issues relating to the respect for human rights and the right of Canadian citizens to express themselves in the way they want. This is a free country. We will always insist that people are free to do so in this country. This is what we have been expressing to the Chinese officials. [emphasis mine]

That's their same attitude towards the Kahdr's, it's a "free country." They'll wait for an attack involving them before Martin and McPromisebreaker do anything.

What kind of person would be capable of concoting such an insipid answer to something as serious as national security?

It is impossible for me to think the liebral government would ever consider taking any kind of a stand against them. This is the same bunch that couldn't find the courage to take a "hard line" on the Iranian "government" for raping, torturing and killing a Canadian citizen, guilty of conducting journalism.

Instead, Mr. Pettigrew predictably sprouted the standard pretentious Librano hot air. What he did was digress just enough to squirm out of the fix his party has placed him into due to its incompetence and complete lack of caring on the matter of illegal entries into Canada.
So, Kate, with the utmost of respect, Mr. Day is right: there was no answer there. Just hot air from Mr. Pettigrew.

Are they not feeling a wee bit of pressure? Does CPAC provide #s for the number of people logging in on the web & watching, as well as those watching on TV? (harder to track, I imagine). How do they think they can get away with the continual lying and evading?
My summer project will be to comb Hansard for every lie & evasion out of the Screecher's mouth. Then I'll figure out what to do with them ;-) (Laurie Hawn, expect an email or two LOL)

Evidently, the Libranos still don't get it. These bastards are out to kill a bunch of people and use Canada as a jumping off point to get at the US. If you claim you are in the "War on Terror"; you don't help the cause, by letting upwards of a 1000 member spy ring set up shop in your back yard.
I suppose we really do need to keep our guns locked and loaded with the intelligence tsunami that Canada is allowing to be gathered.

The MSM did not interview Mr. Day, if they did I didn't see it.

Spies from China - of course they have infiltrated every sector of Canada! Whoever thought it was otherwise? CISIS, the RCMP, External Affairs and certainly Falun Gong practitioners have known this for five + years.
How can Canadians deal with a head-in-the-sand government that kow-tows to China and sells out our freedoms? When the next election comes along I have only one question for the candidates; "What are your ethics?".
