Jacques Chirac has named Dominique de Villepin (who is not a woman) as France's new Prime Minister. One can only conclude that the appointment of the carefully coiffed foreign minister is intended to punish the French for refusing to approve the EU Constitution.
Posted by Kate at May 31, 2005 10:32 AMThe French have to live with each other day in and day out. That should be punishment enough.

On the one hand, as a Canadian suffering under the rogue regime of a criminal PM, I like the concept of a president replacing a PM.
On the other hand, I thin Black Jack Chirac has a histroy and trail of corruption as wide as our federal rigime of the past decade. There is some equivilency to a corrupt French PM attempting to cloak a decade of governmental corruption with a new PM and the Liberal cartel doing the same thing with deposing Chretien and the shallow cerimony of Martin's coronation.
Posted by: WL Mackenzie Redux at May 31, 2005 11:16 AMIn 1967 French president Charles de Gaulle visited Quebec and gave his famous "Vivre le Quebec Libre" speach. Today I yell, with some satisfaction, "Vivre le France Libre".
Posted by: blueright at May 31, 2005 11:31 AMWe should just be thankful that we didn't get him as our new Foreign Affairs Minister. (even though he'd fit right in with the libs)

Another option would be for you to emigrate to the utopia south of 49. Why screw up Canada by tring to turn it into the states?

All French men are women, but not all have had their sex change operation yet.

For someone who despises the U.S. and their thinking so much.
You have certainly bought into their
"With us or against us" motto.
Your "Why screw up Canada" is hilarious and really late!
Looks good on all you cheese eating surrender apes.

Posted by: The Fog is Clearing at May 31, 2005 2:46 PMThey're rearranging deck chairs on the "Titanique." M Chirac replaces his Prime Minister, avoiding the obvious: it is time for HIM to depart.
Posted by: JJM at May 31, 2005 3:42 PMNaked Ape is french? I guess that explains a lot.
Posted by: Jay at May 31, 2005 3:44 PMDear Mr Chirac,
You really shouldn't be joking about the voting public, you know, screaming out in the "Jean" cubicle using your best Marie Antoinette voice "Let Them Eat Cake!!!" followed with cackling angry laughter. Just simply paste on a pleasant smile and ask the peasants to vote again, and get it right this time. Their smart and will learn obedience if you give them enough chances.

Voulez-vous puke?
How about:
"Preening Euroweenie brings pedantic irrelevance to post?"
This proves Chirac must go.
He could have picked someone like Alliot-Marie or Sarkozy - but these two were probably far too independently minded and politically aggressive for Chirac.
