I Wonder What Makes Them Think That?

When asked to name which of the leaders is the most dishonest:
  • 63 per cent of Canadians picked Martin;
  • 20 per cent chose Harper;
  • 5 per cent of respondents said NDP Leader Jack Layton; and
  • 3 per cent named Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe.

    The picture gets even bleaker for Martin: 61 per cent of Canadians say they believe he would lie if it would help him politically; 54 per cent call him hypocritical; while 47 percent say he's indecisive.

    But that Globe and Mail poll also found this:

    Mr. Gregg said cynicism about politicians may be so high that dishonesty has increasingly become less relevant as a voting issue.

    Fifteen to 25 per cent of those surveyed would vote Liberal, yet are still prepared to ascribe "really, really awful attributes to Paul Martin," he said.

    "Honesty, and trustworthiness and lying really isn't much of an issue any more," Mr. Gregg said.

    The trick is to make honesty an issue.

    It wouldn't be that hard to make it an issue. Look at the Internet Poll results on CTV. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/HTMLTemplate
    58% think Honesty is the most important issue.

    Angus Reid:

    Why do you think Stephen Harper and the Conservatives want to force an election now?

    They just want to be in power
    58%

    They sincerely believe they
    can no longer support a Liberal
    government that is corrupt
    37%

    Don’t know

    They just want to be in power
    58%

    Duh. If the leader of my party didn't want to be in power I would find a different leader.

    They *JUST* want to be in power.

    Maybe the emphasis will ring a bell for you. If you think people vote for parties just because they want to be in power and not because they think the party wants to improve conditions for the people, then you're deluded.

    Hey Todd
    Not "deluded"
    "Willfully deluded."
    They know what the truth is, they just refuse to allow themselves to admit it.
    Here's the way I see most liberal thought processes.
    Lets take anyone who lives in the far north working for some native support admin or what ever.
    They think that their job might be cut if the libs are'nt voted back in and they see 3rd generation gas sniffers everyday.
    They get to the voting station and vote liberal ,more of the same fuck the gas sniffers fuck the future of our country my paycheck is more important.
    The gas sniffer goes to the voting booth, same. The pilot flying in all that fuel in 45 gallon drums, same.The guy who maintains those aircraft,same.
    The guy who owns the airplane leasing company ,same, their relative their employees and their relatives,same,same,same.
    Canada is fucked there are probably too many of them.
