If your daily driver delivers 375 pounds-per-foot of torque ....

You might be in Saskatchewan.

And if your plane is loaded and ready to go, but can't get off the ground until the runway traffic is clear....

You might be in Saskatchewan.
Previous moments here.
No fear of homesickness here. I enjoyed 20 years in SK, however I don't think I'll ever miss winter's inevitable last kick at your backside which usually occurred late March to early May.
The reason I say "backside" is that was the side that ached after you removed the snow one last time from your driveway. (My wife always said "let the one who put it there take it away.")
pickmeup trucks, but no cars or suvs.
heavy runway backup,snowplows.
didnt see any skidos runnin down the street.
looks cold.
didnt see any gun racks in the back windows of the pickups,is that no longer in style?

Posted by: howie meeker at April 6, 2005 10:14 AMCome on now, that's the auction in Delisle. (I live down the street.) Naturally it's going to be all trucks. :)
Cheers,
lance
What I like are the big snow plows ( those are 5-10 tonne trucks, by the by ( with 20ft plow blades, 10ft + extention)) driving in echelon at highway speeds to clear the runways... and they do it all night. It's fun to see them waiting for a plane to land, or take off, so they can race down the runway after them.
And on a highways where I lived too, but without the side-blade extentions.
You haven't lived until you've followed a phalanx of trucks like that ( clearing 2-3 lanes & simultaneously laying down grit and salt) down a major highway at 50+ mph, passing the cars and trucks in the ditches. 12+" of snow?
Pshaw! Get out the way!
Yeah - it was a farm auction - the streets were wall to wall pickups - I couldn't resist!
Posted by: Kate at April 6, 2005 12:05 PMEvery once in a while here in the UK, a "big ol'" truck rumbles by - usually owned by a US serviceman - and causes a stir by being so incongruous.
I have a vivid memory from a year or so ago while walking down the street in London.
Suddenly, here was a humungous red Dodge Ram - left-hand drive - cruising past me. There were two men with baseball caps inside and the rather distinct sound of country western music emanating from a half-open window.
The look on the faces of the Brit pedestrians was priceless: the aliens have landed!
Posted by: JJM at April 7, 2005 6:41 AMDuring my visit there, I wondered what the reaction would be of an Australian to the size of the traffic on our highways. When I used the word "minivan" to desribe my host's vehicle, I was met with perplexed looks. They couldn't comprehend the existance of an extended Dodge Ram....
Posted by: Kate at April 7, 2005 1:14 PMA year ago, and in years past, I've thought you were insane.
Now, those pictures look like just another day.......
I suppose "S" and "A" aren't that different, when paired with "K"
