Dressing Down the Primitives

I've mentioned American novelist and conservative opinion columnist, Mark Helprin, on multiple occasions. John Anderson's article in the LA Times is a good read. Recieved via email, I've made it available here.

A new novel by Helprin - "Freddy and Fredericka" - is due out in July.

Comments

Ha.... this was probably intentional on your part Kate, given the comments flying in the other topic.

His prose is very beautiful, but Helprin has been a crank for over a decade, and peddles non stop doom and gloom. He then passes off his prescriptive mistakes as signs of a more nuanced, sophisticated thinker.Like the entire bunch of nutters that write for The American Conservative. There isn't a whole of difference between Helprin and Eric Margolis.

Nice comparison Howie. Did I miss Margolis' big apology for being wrong about almost everything?
