Hostage Released. No Video.

* sigh *

An agent of El Libranofesto wanders into camp, and what do our erstwhile brave neo-con bloggers do with the opportunity?

Gush.

What a bunch of all hat, no cattle, chickenhawk, warblogging wannabes they turned out to be.

Not just one, but two shiny brass rings went swinging slowly by .... plump, juicy low-hanging fruit... and they turned the bitch loose. That wasn't just a couple million in ransom cash flying out the window, kiddies - that was your chance at gaining a sympathetic voice at the Toronto Star.

Antonia Zerbisias has never met a bomb building, hostage taking, sword-wielding "insurgent" she couldn't cheer for. And we didn't even get a fake hostage video out of it.

Are you impervious to a seductive leer from a media biggie? Your knees wouldn't wobble if a Globe and Mail squish began a charm offensive?

Are you saying you have higher standards and aren't an easy lay?

I'd have to see what he drives, first.

A Volvo.

Yup, that's what I said:

Naturally, I added an obligatory Shelly Winters reference. I'm meaner than Kate.

Not only did I get them off my back for a while, I exposed them as eager for recognition from the old media they sneer at. Not only did I invade the belly of the beast, I rolled it on its back — and gave it a tummy rub. - Zerbasias

Both Kate and Queen Z seem to have misinterpreted the behaviour of the VRWC Toronto crowd that evening. The adjective both are fumbling for is "gentlemanly." How sad that it has become so rare as to be unrecognizable to them.

/snooty condescending faux-patrician voice

Take a look at her pic.

She reminds them of mom ;-)

Next time - bring her to me in an orange jumpsuit ..... or don't come back at all.

Hey, why weren't you there, Kate? Don't give me that feeble "I live 2,000 miles away from Toronto" excuse. (So do I, after all.)

Didn't want to upstage her.

Or get arrested.

;-)

"Or get arrested."

Chickenhawk.
