Methinks we need more Newfoundland politicians. They seem to be among the few who have the integrity to say what needs to be said, without equivocation or first checking a laundry list of special interests whom they must take care not to speak the offensive truth to.
"When asked why he was visiting Khadaffy in Libya, Martin explained "a number of world leaders have seen him," so it appears this is the reason that our own great world leader wished to see him. This is the same Khadaffy who accepted responsibility for the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in which 270 people, including two Canadians, were killed; the same Khadaffy whose son wants us to apologize because we dared to apply sanctions to his country in opposition to such murderous terrorism.A recent proverb states that "eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines." Unfortunately, in Canada, since 1945, it is the weasels who are the most successful in getting into power and are there now. The PM and his colleagues weasel to the discredit of the reputation of Canada -- equivocating, quibbling, defaulting on and getting out of obligations." - John Crosby, in today's Toronto Sun.

Canadian Kerfuffle from Chapomatic
A buncha Newfoundlanders seem to be a bit riled, and it's an interesting riled. Kate at Roadkill Diaries quotes a politician:

Boy... you said it! which also includes your previous article with the importation of immigrants that have been threatened that if they don't keep the Liberal scum in power, they'll get the boot. It's all part of the same weasel strategy.
Posted by: Rob at December 26, 2004 2:30 PMAnd the inherent defensive cringing - other leaders have done it, it's okay, really, nobody can yell at me....
Posted by: nazz jones at December 26, 2004 7:23 PMYea... Trudeau started it, the revered leader of all Liberal scum, Mallrony enhanced it with Family reunification, and then all leaders expanded it through special interests groups after, so they could stay in power. So technically there's nothing to defend, it's already been trashed.... if I seem angry it's only cause I've watched the self distruction for over 30 years... bet your really cringing now.. ;-)
Posted by: Rob at December 26, 2004 7:47 PMKate!
Thank you very much! I am glad you stepped back and looked at the whole picture, maybe that's why you were voted in as the best Canadian Blog....I need support...(forelock tugging) I just started :) I had to take a two by twice to poor Damian Brooks because he defecated on Our Danny Boy. I am hard core big C. Here's something to think about. There is not a provincial building in Quebec that flies the Canadian flag, sooooooooooo Get the Frogs to put the flags back and then .... Maybe NFLD will reconsider! hahahahah!
As an old warhorse I love Patton and you can quote me, "I love it so." Check me out here.

I meant Martin was doing the cringing, I was commenting about his justification for visiting Libya. BTW, you don't seem that angry to me, just realistic.
Posted by: nazz jones at December 26, 2004 9:32 PMUhhh... sorry... red face just a glowen .. :-). Try to be realistic, but a lot of the so called civil libertarians around here get me angry with truth distortions, so's I get's a little trigger happy sometimes.. :)
