Although I have great affection for our American cousins, I think we need our very own made in Canada suffix in order to denote a Canadian scandal. My suggestion is that henceforth we use the suffix "tien" to denote a homegrown scandal. This will provide a fitting legacy for the man who brought us more scandals than any of his predecessors (and yet has ecsaped appropriate recognition for his contribution to our shared history).

Henceforth let these stories be captioned thusly:

Sponsorshiptien, Shawinicantien, Obstructien of justice, Hunting rifle registratien, Misinformatien of Parliament - ( "the BDC opeates at arms length from the government), Assaultien and batterytien of a citizen (who was by the way exercising his charter protected right to protest-so much for equality before the law or that justice is blind)

Oh... I do like that.

How about "Kadr-tien" (What was the "Slugger of Flag day's" reward for that? I understand these Arabs pay handsomely for "services rendered".However the fact that Kadr was slain upon his return to Afganastan, will his family sue Herr Chretien if he did have any part in getting him out of the Saudi jail? I can just hear it now " If he was kept in the Saudi jail, my wonderful patriotic husband would still be alive boo hoo. I want money," says the whaleing wife>

Great list canamsteve. I approve of the hyphen. With the hyphen, even lefty will understand the reference.

This gives me an opportunity to say that yes, i know it's Shawinigan however since the scandal was about him doing something he shouldn't do, and said he hadn't done, until he got caught, and since Homourable members can't lie, it seemed to me that cant was preferablle to gant. ( Besides my editor was awol during that post).
