A special investigator named by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to probe alleged election interference by China on Friday said he would quit, citing widespread opposition to his appointment and work.
David Johnston, 81, said he would leave his post by the end of June, or as soon as he has delivered a brief final report. Last month he said Trudeau’s government had not ignored evidence of Chinese meddling and recommended against an official public inquest.

It worked with the emergency act inquiry, so why wouldn’t Justee try it again? He should have learned from the trucker convoy. the first 2 times protesters went to Ottawa they corralled them in a fence , didn’t talk to them ,the paid for press ignored them and they went home. He believes he can do anything he wants and get away with it.
Maybe Joostaihn can dig up old sourpuss Louise Arbour to fill Johnston’s reliable shoes. She could be counted on to give the anti-chicomms the scolding they deserve.
If Johnston was as wise as his peers claim, he would have understood that the looming conflict of interest produced from the families’ history together, his past presence on the Trudeau Foundation board of directors, and the parting donation by a then Liberal government to the Rideau Foundation would preclude anyone from viewing his opinions as devoid of bias. Re-establishing trust in the government of Canada would have demanded a sharp “No, thank you” instead of “How much?”.
