Ban All The Things!

To cook, or not to cook…

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm unveiled new climate and efficiency restrictions on air conditioners despite widespread criticism the Biden administration received after officials recently announced restrictions on gas stoves.

The new energy efficiency standards, which will apply to room air conditioners and portable air cleaners, will enter into effect next year. The Energy Department contended that the new rules will assist with “tackling the climate crisis,” as well as save consumers $25 billion over the next three decades. Room air conditioners are more commonly called window air conditioners.

  1. Saving the climate.
Maybe I’ll need to get me a Cooley with a big palm leaf to fan my sweating azz.

  2. Next up?

Biden will tackle refrigerators. Look for new standards such that your next fridge will be a bar fridge. One of those little ones that fits under a counter.

  3. Two months ago the Democrats said banning gas stoves was a right wing conspiracy. Today it’s policy. Doesn’t take long.

  4. “as well as save consumers $25 billion over the next three decades.”
Too true, as consumers won’t be buying them anymore.

  5. Up from the memory hole … The Trump Admin. were tasked by The Donald to repeal 3 regulations for every new regulation added. And no new regulations that make personal lives miserable.

  6. “The direct final rule for portable air cleaners—which increases efficiency in two phases, beginning in 2024—reflects a consensus agreement among manufacturers, the manufacturing trade association, efficiency advocates, consumer advocacy groups, states, and utilities. ”

Manufacturers want this to raise the bar to entry in the market by new competitors
MTA are the lobby groups for the existing manufacturers
    Efficiency advocates AKA environmental groups
Consumer Advocacy Groups that don’t represent consumers
    States such as California
And someone needs to ask why utilities are advocating against their interests of selling more electrons

All of them are conspiring against choice in the market used by most consumers who don’t belong to any of the above.

  7. Careful now.. Expecting the welfare class to sit around sweating all day while not working is a human rights violation..

  8. None of this, of course, has any impact on the wealthy ruling class who all have whole-house air conditioning.

Wait until 2026 when every newly manufactured car has to have an interlock on it.

  9. The government elites will still have all the convenient luxuries our tax dollars can buy.

  10. It’s perfect. When the plebs die of heat stroke from no ac they can blame climate change.
