  1. The top CBC News story today was about how the US may have looked into what China may have been doing in Canada back in the 1990s, before the Chinese leaders of that era all died of old age:

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/us-dragon-lord-probe-book-1.6783063

That may sound like a satire of how things tend to move at a glacial pace here in Canada, but they were obviously trying to craft a believable news story. Morale is low even among Dear Leader’s most faithful lapdogs as he approaches the “Hitler screaming in the bunker” phase of his political career.

Someone forgot to brief former Vancouver mayor Kennedy Stewart about the West Coast edition of the China conspiracy theory, so he ended up shooting the puck in the Liberal net the other day. It never occurred to whoever is making up the silly stories in Ottawa that even the racists in Vancouver voted for the new Chinese mayor, and that this was no great shock to anyone.

    1. Theo, I was about to post the link, just now, but you beat me too it by nine hours. Yesterday I pre-ordered the book, “The Mosaic Effect” from Amazon. Funny why the CBC would advertise this book, given that it sides with dissidents from China.

    1. “One characteristic of communism is that it constantly tries to overcome problems unknown under any other system” ~ Stefan Kisielewski

      1. I like that quote! It’s perfect. The CBC had an expert to discuss $79M the Liberals promised to take care of a backlog of 42,000 complaints about Airlines. The so called expert said the problem was that the companies were focused on making a profit. It never occurred to either of them that the solution would cost the taxpayers nothing. Open up the Canadian skies to competition.

        1. Got one better, 1980s Poland, there is abundant supply of eggs and a chronic shortage of poultry. Why? Eggs are sold privately at every market, sale of all meat is regulated by state monopoly. Those idiots literarily could not connect the dots.

    2. I think they call it “social justice”, at least Castro did in one of his interviews.

    3. By the way, it never hurts to remind the right-wing schweinie-lovers that Cuba, along with Venezuela and North Korea are the most enthusiastic supporters of Ruϟϟischeschweinen Pediration (check their votes in the UN).

      1. Do you realize how infantile (and franky pathetic) you and Colonialista sound when you use words like “orc”, “Pootin”, “right-wing schweinie-lovers”, “Ruϟϟischeschweinen Pediration”, and so on?
Let the facts and arguments do the talking, that would be much more effective.

        1. Yawn. Find me a term that reflects the prevalent ideology in Russia better than Ruϟϟischeschweinism and I will consider using it. The expression “russische schweine” appeared centuries ago, so it’s safe to say I didn’t invent it. As I have said, it’s not my fault that Russians are most easily understood when thought of as pigs that fancy themselves humans.

        2. “Do you realize how infantile (and franky pathetic) you and Colonialista sound when you use words like “orc”, “Pootin”, “right-wing schweinie-lovers”, “Ruϟϟischeschweinen Pediration”, and so on?”

They actually don’t. Their lack of maturity prevents any such realization, and any attempts to educate them are as futile as trying to ‘reason’ with a toddler.

(although, I am somewhat ashamed to admit, it does have some great entertainment value at times…;)

        3. Do you object to me using phrases like “mooselimb” or “turd worlder”?
Do you object to me referring to our PM as “Baked Potato”?
Do you object to me referring to US President as “Brandon Alzheimer”?
Do you object to others using phrases like “ukes” or “ukronazis”?
Or is your objection only relevant to me using phrases like “orcs” , “Siberian Mongols” , “Kacaps”?

All of the above. You demonstrate the maturity level of a 14 year old every day.

You may be the terror of the schoolyard, but here you’re just a running joke.

          2. I wasn’t asking you, shortbus. And no, I don’t care how much you feel annoyed by my posts. Happy to annoy you, let me know when you pop a next hemerobiid after reading my post.

      2. Have you talked to the average twelve year old public school student here in Canada, especially one that has their own phone?
They are all to familiar with the term “social justice”, and they love it because they are smart enough to know it’s an easy out, and God forbid we let the darlings feel the sting of consequence.
Yeah worry about the “orcs” thousands of miles away.
And you have the guts to throw insults around, I don’t know what’s worse real commies, or useful idiots.

        1. What exactly are you objecting to? I’m just saying that it’s absurd when supposed right-wingers in the West gravitate towards the same country as the left-wing regimes around them world and think of it as “conservative”. You’ve got “useful idiots” right, though – it’s the best term for people who think the way I described.

          1. And your Russiaphobia puts you on the same side as
            Pro vaxxers
            Climate change alarmists
            Anti energy zealots
            Drag queen story hour
            15 min cities
            mass immigration
            open borders
            Soros
            J6 committee
            Anti Trumpers
            Critical Race theory
            UNdrip
            CBC
            etc, etc

Which really makes you the most useful of idiots

          2. I have long noticed that Russians are, basically, intellectual blacks with whitish skin – they use “russophobia” the way blacks use “racism” – cry the magic word and it will get you through anything.

          3. Hey Colon.

You apparently have no idea that Reddit is a progressive left cesspool.

And you have an unhealthy fat hard on for anything Russian.

Lord knows why, but it has nothing to do with Ukraine.

          4. Yawn, Redit is great for what I need it to be. I don’t give a damn about who says what in the comments, all social media are for idiots anyway. Redit has tons of films on the few topics I want to find films on.

Why I despise Siberian Mongols I have explained on many occasions. Ukraine merely confirms all my feelings regarding the horde I had prior to invasion. The war in Ukraine hasn’t shown us what we should not have known already: cruelty, barbarity, incomitance are all well known orc traits.

But most importantly, for daring to argue that my hatred of everything orc means that I must agree with the rest of your list, you’re a subhuman, literarily that. To believe that one cannot pick and choose positions and is required to blindly subscribe to a package is to be a subhuman. That is what you are.
Like Hobot and few others you’re below dogshit.

      3. The West is being out-maneuvered and sidelined. Many more countries than you list are aligning in a China-Russia power bloc, in addition to those that are taking a neutral stance. That new iron curtain will run right thru the centre of the Ukraine. The reckoning will be painful for those who drank the kool-aid cuz of their tribal hatreds. They’ll keep on hating.

        1. There’s no such thing as “China-Russia power bloc”. But you’re right, I only listed communist dictatorships (Cuba, Venezuela and North Korea) while there are also bought and paid for tin-pot dictatorships (Zimbabwe, Eritrea, Belarus) that are allied with Russia as long as it pays them. Plus a special case of heavily sanctioned Iran whose relationship with Russia can actually be described as mutualism, for a change.

          1. NewsFlash: China brokers negotiations between Saudi Arabia and Iran. “Saudi Arabia is open to quickly investing in Iran following the restoration of diplomatic relations”-Saudi finance minister. Saudi Arabia vies to join Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Xi comes calling on Putin tomorrow and meeting with Russian defence contractors. Official party line on the visit @ Global Times : President Xi’s Russia trip a highly expected event.
People in the tin-pot dictatorships see through the sham and financial alchemy of the West’s liberal democracies. Some here do also.

          2. “In recent years, one expression has been commonly used when it comes to China-Russia relations: non-alliance, non-confrontation and non-targeting of any third party. Now, another sentence has been added: It does not tolerate any third party’s interference or coercion. These sentences are strong in their specificity. The new type of major-country relations between China and Russia has provided enlightenment to the world, in stark contrast to the behavior of some countries that are keen on creating various “small circles,” forming cliques and engaging in bloc politics.” Global Times

    1. I heard it is a hilarious black comedy.
I have yet to see it but will when I find the time.

    1. I was a sophomore in HS in 1972, and could have seen that same Traffic show at Winterland … but alas … got my drivers license, but no car. Oh the concerts I missed. But what a treasure to have videos and recordings of these vintage shows. And although some of the video is a bit blurry … the SOUND … and the camera work, editing and knowledge of the music – tracking the featured instruments and players is simply fantastic. Literally one of my favorite concert films of all time (critics be damned).

And what a treat to see Winwood play guitar – both acoustic in John Barleycorn Must Die … and a simply brilliant Gibson non-reverse Seafoam Green Firebird. OMG! What tone he is getting out of that Firebird. And what feel he has for the guitar … one of the most talented musicians EVER. A true child prodigy. It’s nice that Gibson Guitars gifted Steve a replica copy of his beloved Seafoam Firebird that was stolen from him while on tour. What a shame to take such an instrument out of the hands of a maestro.

    1. Funny…I just posted the same link on another thread. Great minds…

i’ve seen extrapolations that go as high as $400 trillion, for batteries that likely need replaced every ten years, and we certainly don’t have sufficient lithium.

      1. A real waste of time, money and resources. We will all freeze and starve without fossil fuels. Nothing can be made without fossil fuels.

    2. And with everyone being forced to buy electric vehicles, double that demand.

      1. Robert – yes exactly. But it is a bit of a moot point as there are also several inconvenient truths dictating why we will never get to 100% electric vehicles.

  2. VOWG – We will get to the point someday when we use fossil fuels only to make things instead of burning it. Right now it is a bit like burning furniture grade hardwood instead of making furniture with it. The energy source to power our cars and heat our homes won’t be windmills and solar though.
And Roaddog, the article misses the point that net zero assumes we will still be using fossil fuels, just capturing a lot of carbon. But that’s a minor miss. The main point of the article is completely valid.

    1. Net Zero (perfection) is just wrapping the word Utopia in something new.
I’m all for progress but there has to be a better way to do it.

    2. We’ll be using fossil fuels for another century; but I was primarily interested in the magnitude of the financial commitment that politicians fail to comprehend. Lost in all of the “net zero” madness is the fact that politicians are legislating/mandating commitments, but implementing nowhere sufficient plans to replace the critical energy infrastructure that they are destroying.

      1. “We’ll be using fossil fuels for another century; ”

Maybe. Maybe 50 years more, at the very least.

Most of the people calling for an immediate end to oil and gas use (I refuse to use their terminology whenever possible) have no idea how many things *crucial* to our society are absolutely dependent upon them…it’s far more than driving our cars or heating our homes.

    3. “We will get to the point someday when we use fossil fuels only to make things instead of burning it. Right now it is a bit like burning furniture grade hardwood instead of making furniture with it. The energy source to power our cars and heat our homes won’t be windmills and solar though.”

Agreed. The only people who keep pushing those ‘alternatives’ are the ignorant or the people who make money from them. I don’t know which group is worse.

    1. The most telling part was the opening when the comedian asked the audience if they watch the news and they responded “no”.

    1. Politicians always make bold statements when they know they’ll never have to make good on them.

    2. Virtue signalling. Even USA doesn’t recognize the ICC. Given their NAZI past of ethnic cleansings in NAZI occupied lands, rich of a German to call for Putin’s arrest while they arm Ukie nationalists bent on ethnic cleansing the Eastern Ukraine. Schweine come in many breeds.

      1. Nazi ethnic cleansing belongs to the government, not the country. That government had been removed from power many decades ago, so association makes no sense.

Which ethnicity do “Ukie nationalists” want to remove from Eastern Ukraine and what evidence do you have of that? Also worth noting that nationalism only became prevalent in Ukraine after the Russian invasion (it certainly existed before but most people were apathetic). Zelensky wasn’t campaigning on nationalism when he won by a landslide.

      2. “Virtue signalling. Even USA doesn’t recognize the ICC. ”

The ICC was a joke right from the very start. When you let representatives from the worst human right violators in the world sit on your ‘court’, no one should be surprised when smart nations ignore it.

  3. I just found out sbout a US based militia group called People’s Rights. They seem to be attracting a lot of support. Their aim is to stand against government tyranny.
    https://www.peoplesrights.org/
Interestingly you cannot find the link with a simple Google search. As always Google promotes all the negative commentary about the counter- government groups, from those wonderfully balanced sources like ” Southern Poverty”, Atlantic, etc. Militias are part of the American Social fabric, and in my view, in a time of increasing government tyranny and compromised courts, they are an important tool to protect democratic rights. I doubt you will see this type of thing in Canada, as too many Canadians are big supporters of big government.

    1. “Too many Canadians are big supporters of big government”. Unfortunately, too true. 25% of those employed in Canada now work in the public sector. Prior to the Wu Flu lockdowns, that percentage was “only” a little over 20%. 620 First Nations and three territories where government is overwhelming the largest employer. Add to that Quebec and the Atlantic provinces where government employment in one form or another is central to the economy. And all those government employees get to vote for even bigger governments.

  4. No charges in fatal shooting in Dearborn police station lobby
    https://www.downriversundaytimes.com/2023/03/17/worthy-no-charges-in-fatal-shooting-in-dearborn-police-station-lobby/

DEARBORN – Wayne County Prosecutor Kim Worthy said March 16 that no charges will be issued in the fatal shooting of a man Dec. 18 in the Dearborn police station lobby.

Ali Naji, 33, of Dearborn walked into the lobby, 16099 Michigan Ave., at 3:32 p.m. Dec. 18 and within seconds of entering pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the officer on duty and pulled the trigger. When the gun failed to fire, Naji removed the magazine and reinserted it.
Photo courtesy of Dearborn Police Department video
Security video captures Ali Haji taking a gun from a local barber shop where he had once worked.

The officer on duty, who was behind a bullet-resistant acrylic partition, retreated, then returned five seconds later with his own firearm. He then slid open a window and fired 17 times at Naji, killing him.

Following the incident, which occurred in 13 seconds, it was discovered that Naji’s gun had a round in the chamber and the gun’s safety was off.

The family of Naji has brought a $10 million civil suit against the city of Dearborn for wrongful death, citing that no de-escalation was attempted.

    1. “The family of Naji has brought a $10 million civil suit against the city of Dearborn for wrongful death, citing that no de-escalation was attempted.”

As they should. He’s behind bulletproof glass, leaves to get his own gun, *comes back* and then unloads his entire magazine into the guy? Please. He has no business being a cop.
