We now have the most authoritative estimate of the value provided by wearing masks during the pandemic: approximately zero. The most rigorous and extensive review of the scientific literature concludes that neither surgical masks nor N95 masks have been shown to make a difference in reducing the spread of Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses.

This verdict ought to be the death knell for mask mandates, but that would require the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the rest of the public health establishment to forsake “the science”—and unfortunately, these leaders and their acolytes in the media seem as determined as ever to ignore actual science.

  3. On Van Island every hospital and doctor’s office require masks to be worn. I asked my family doctor (mask required) when the charade will end and he said….NEVER!

    Out of the 78 papers analyzed in the review, only two actually studied masking during the Covid-19 pandemic. And both of those found that masks did protect wearers from Covid-19. But these studies are drowned out by the greater number of studies on influenza included, where the benefit of masking is harder to detect because it’s a far less contagious virus than Covid-19.

    1. I’d like to take your responses apart bit by conflict of interest bit, but I do not care to refute bullshit. I’ve been doing it for 3 years now & there is nothing further I can say that will convert the religious.

      That said, just a couple of quick highlights:
      1) Citing the Grunnion is worse than citing the CDC. May as well use Wiki;
      2) Oh, wait, they cite the CDC, as well. Quelle surprise. No conflict of interest there;
      3) Check the conflicts of interest in the disclosure statement;
      4) They go on & on about the efficacy of N95 masks & respirators, yet no North American mandates specified them. Standard blue hospital masks & home-made cotton/polyester were de rigeur;
      5) This isn’t the only article analyzing mask efficacy. Over the last three years and, even before, there are significant studies calling BS on mask efficacy;
      6) I could go on, at length.

      From your first link, without even addressing the problems with their meta-analysis, came to the conclusion that respirators if used for the whole shift were the only thing that was effective.

    3. So only two studies were done during Covid 19? Sounds like we have bugger all data then to say that they work, or don’t work for that matter.

    4. Rubbish….flu viruses and COVID are almost exactly the same size….masks don’t stop the spread of the flu. Nor do they stop the spread of COVID.

      1. The public information seems to be that fomites are not a problem for Covid, I have no idea what the scientific background Is for that, I would be surprised if its anything given the lack of studies around masks and covid.

        So when apparently you take your covid covered cloth mask off and chuck it in your pocket, then rub your face, none of the covid infects you. Unlike the flu which definitely would. I have no explanation of this magic. only it seems to be a commonly held beleif.

      The smallest opening in any mask is typically ~10,000mU. (Microns – 1 Billionth of a Meter)
      The largest airborne viral particulate matter is ~ 100 mU

      I’m going to assume you can do the math….?
      Paper Cloth Masks have NEVER EVER Worked.
      You want 100% safety..??

  6. A VISIT TO ST PAUL’S HOSPITAL IN VANCOUVER YESTERDAY

    – Wife was booked for a minor procedure.
    – I phoned the day before with a query.
    – As per usual nowadaze there was a long voice recording before being routed to the receptionist (who could barely spreak English).
    – Voice Message: Must be fully vaccinated or will not be allowed in.
    – She, like me, is un”vaccinated”.
    – We shrugged our shoulders
    – Got there, signage before the front door says full vaccination required plus masks plus 6 feet social distancing.
    – Two tables with 4 staff handing out masks with tongs (better Psyop 19 theatre)
    – No mention about vaccination. So a flat out lie.

    SO the vaccination requirement was an empty threat. I find myself wondering if people booked for a St Paul’s visit may have been panicked into getting the jab. At the hospital then it’s March 2020 though thankfully there was no yellow police tape over chairs to effectuate the magical mystical 6 feet of separaration.

    As keen conservative observers point out all the misinformation is coming from gubmint and its agencies.
