  1. One side plays chess while the other plays checkers comes to mind.

Alberta – Wondering if NDP supporting Health Care workers are going to continue to support shutting down “tar” this time around?

    1. If you’re suggesting that Putin is playing chess, I would sharply disagree. He has shown little in the way of intelligence over the last year. Rather he seems to be staggering from one bad decision to the next.

      1. Putin IS playing chess while Biden and NATO are busy digging their own graves while sacrificing the lives of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians in their proxy war against Russia.

        1. that whole business with ZELENSKY is probably fixed so that he gets his 10% just like THE BIG GUY in the USA………money laundering at it’s finest

        2. @Claude

Not according to the girls on The View or Rachel Madcow and every other frothing mental genius with a rainbow clan tag. Their brilliant audience is in full lockstep with the WEF, EU & UN who have treated us all so well and with such honesty. In Canada when Trudeau speaks they jump with excitement, he’s ordered the jump and look at them go – Honest is their middle name, just ask them.

    2. of course the Dippers will do what they can to try and ruin Alberta……they are, after all joined at the hip with JAGMEATHEAD ……..

  2. I pray that the Communist Notley loses handily in the coming election. If that Uber Socialist POS gets in…we will be well beyond totally screwed…

    TOTALLY.

  3. Sanctions aren’t effective once the costs of avoiding them are covered, which should be obvious to anyone who has been paying attention for the last 60 years

    1. Perhaps, but my guess is there are other “forms of payment” that we aren’t seeing. The China/Russia axis is the biggest threat in history.

      1. Why would there be other forms of payment? None is willing to pay them more and they have to sell cheap. Even if resellers are making money the Siberian beats is getting starved.

    2. So says the world famous trucker cum economist. Your narrative was written by crossdressers and the short pants brigade

      1. “Usually reliable media sources like The Economist reported last month that according to official Russian sources that country’s revenues from oil and gas declined by 46 per cent in January 2023, year on year.”

        3rd paragraph in Brian’s link.

Seems as though you entered a battle of the wits unarmed.

        1. I want to believe you but it forces me to believe that Russia tells The Economist how much oil it’s selling and at what price, or at best, all the countries buying that oil have to confess and give the amount and the price. Seems a stretch.

I can just imagine the conversation.

Putin aid: “phone call. it’s for you Vlad”
          Putin: “Who is it”
Putin aid: “It’s someone from The Economist asking how much oil we’re selling and at what price”
Putin: “Oh, put him on. I hate to keep those journalists from The Economist waiting”

        2. “Seems as though you entered a battle of the wits unarmed.”

          Coming from you, that’s hilarious…

(“Usually reliable” sources? “According to” official Russian sources? …you’re so precious..)

      1. So now you like more expensive oil? Is there anything that can happen that you’re not going to turn against West?

        1. Kenji wants Joe to keep oil prices low in America. And he wants America to stop buying cheap plastic crap from China that is made from inexpensive Russian oil. At least that is what I get, not being a mind reader.

          1. Well … you got the precise gist of my comment. Oh well … I guess some people need sarc. tags when I bemoan massive trade deficits to a communist adversary.

PS … I much preferred the world when President Trump made energy cheap for the West … and was reducing the trade deficit with the ChiComs. Now … Bidinh has created the exact opposite … and WE’RE suffering … not Russia

    3. Your tiny mind does not work. There is no shortage of the shit. It could sell for 25 cents a barrel and money will still be made. F*** I hate stupid.

  4. We still can run Energy East through Quebec without provincial say-so – we run it along the bottom of the St. Lawrence River, Le Fleuve, which I believe is federal jurisdiction.

    1. Just run whale clubbing tankers from Ontario to the New Brunswick north shore. They are coming in with oil for Quebec anyhow. And build an embarrassingly large refinery in Cornwall to supply the Montreal and/or upstate New York market.

      1. Scar

Did they actually build a refinery in Cornhole..?
I’m guessing the old Domtar site mighta made a good spot..?
The smell from that plant was enough to gag a maggot.

Lived there from 86 to 96, met my wife and 2 yrs later got the hell out….back to saner pastures (Alberta). Place is mega centre of corruption.. (all French based of course), and cheap assed union based arrogant mechanical outfits – Lafromboise to name one.

I Don’t miss that festering dump 1 bit

  5. Dictators have always gotten around sanctions because no politician is willing to hit them where they live.

For Canada, not producing the much-needed gas and oil, well, that is more of a punishment for us rather than Putin.

  6. You people can’t stop lying, can you?
Oil is currently trading at $76-$83/bbl, depending on grade.

    This $50/bbl stuff is BS.

    1. Right from Brian’s link:

“Usually reliable media sources like The Economist reported last month that according to official Russian sources that country’s revenues from oil and gas declined by 46 per cent in January 2023, year on year.”

If the volume is only down 5%, that must mean the oil itself is selling at a huge discount.

  7. As long as the price they get is higher than the price it costs them to produce, they make money.

Higher tanker costs? You need my product? You pay the shipping costs……

    1. A lot of oil sells at a discount to Brent, due to the cost of getting the oil to the refineries near the North Sea. If you produce crude in Western Canada how do you get your crude to the North Sea and at what added cost?

          1. I’m curious to know who the international accountant is who is keeping track of Russian oil sales – volume and cost. And why he isn’t dead.

  8. Energy East eh….WHY.??

Why would Alberta want its oil to be shipped east.??
Given the FEDS effectively screwing us over at every opportunity.
You all know damned well that will NEVER EVER Happen…regardless of what eastern twat reigns in the PMO.

What has been proposed and to me makes all kinds of sense is this:
Instead of going East, we go NORTH, north to Alaska and join up 2-3 NEW 42″ X80 pipelines from Edmonton/Hardisty Ft Mac to their Trans Alaska Pipeline system…said system ends at VALDEZ – a Yr round ICE FREE Deep water port and our OIL could be shipped Anywhere. The Alaskans have already saidas far bk as 2014, that they would love to have our product flowing through their system…

Pay off NWT / Yukon for ROW rights..and watch this province Literally EXPLODE.

    1. Definitely, don’t send it east, I’m there and I want nothing but pain for my infant, imbicilic, neighbours who vote Liberal and couldn’t cross the street without mommy government to hold their pathetic hands.

    2. Trudeau would block it.
Need Trump to win in 2024. Demand a pipeline from Alaska to North Dakota. Trudeau would have to say yes or the pipeline through Michigan gets closed by Trump. Once pipeline is in place, AB and SK can feed into it.

    3. When we separate The NWT and Yukon will have a stark choice.
Stick with welfare and the Canadian Apartheid System?
Or stand with the Nation of Buffalo, who will be doing God’s Work on behalf of the NWT as they will be removing that Asphalt Pollution from the Athabasca River System,so preventing contamination of the Mighty MacKenzie and the Beaufort Sea.
Not to mention the fact both Territories would be cut off ..

  9. Fck the Russians and everybody else in the world.
We should only sell our oil to Americans.
Why do we want to sell energy to all these shitholes?

  10. “What has been proposed and to me makes all kinds of sense is this:

Did not know this Steakman – should be started day after Smith wins election

    1. Ward, this propsal was in wrting by I think maybe the Western Standard or some Alberta based publication…definitely late 2013/2014.

I personally think its a brilliant idea, if working men can build a pipeline in the middle of a war and in likely one of the most inhospitable places on the planet. “The trans alaskan pipeline” I think its called, using 1940’s tech, then as a Senior Welding Professional, I know damned well we could and likely twice as fast, with greater capability and an end product that could move literally billions of bbls annually. 42″ is some serious sized pipe – build 2 or 3 at the same time..?? Just watch the investment in our North Explode.

As for Ottawa…all we need is someone with enough cojonnes who will tell that 2 bit pissante in the PMO TO Fook off and stay thaT waY.

  11. Do enlighten us, oh Great One! How much oil is imported by pipeline vs tankers? How much has pipeline flow been reduced cuz of sanctions?

  12. This is no surprize whatsover. Oil is a commodity that is in demand across the globe.

The good news is that Russia would almost certainly be selling at a steep discount to market prices. The buyers would have little reason to pay full price when Russia is so desperate.

        1. Yes, the 80% of the world that doesn’t give a crap about the west, and is quickly aliening to do something about it.

Simply compare cities like Dubai, Shanghai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and a plethora of others to the decaying rot of most American cities and their transportation systems. Coupled with an aversion to the “woke” indoctrination of future generations the world is telling the west to FO and they have started down the road to make it happen.

  13. Russia is evil. EVIL I tells ya!
    …also…
Russia is a charity operation, selling fuel at below cost, because…reasons.

In this day and age, when some people believe men can be women, it should come as no surprise that people will believe that kind of tripe.

    1. “because…reasons.”

Because they are facing a monopsony from the west, can’t just sell elsewhere unless you’re gonna transport it for them in buckets, and because they can’t stop pumping and reopen later.

      1. China and India are massive markets for oil. Russia ain’t worried with these markets available.
But, keep believing CBC and CNN, showing your true leftist colors, along with Allah the truck driver. Nice to see you guys as agreeing with Blackie Trudeau.
        Got Nazi?

        1. Here we go again. He knows nothing but “thinks” that if he screams CNN and CBC it will count for an argument. Ok pay attention now.

First basic economics. If one is choosing to sell to client A as opposed to client B it happens because client A offers him more. It could be a better price, it could be cheaper transport, it could be greater volume. Either way you choose clients based on profit. Client A was West, client B is Chicoms and India. Now client A is gone. Hence if Pootin is forced to sell to not his preferred client, he makes lower profits.

          But it gets worse.

India and China know that Pootin lost his best customer. They know your beloved 5D chess player is desperate, so they buy at a huge discount. So he gets even less than he was getting before.

          But it gets worse.

How are you gonna get that oil to Asia?

You and Hobot will pack buckets in the back of your shortbus and haul it from Siberia? The pipelines to Asia were already running at close to capacity before the war. Pipelines take a long time to built even if you have access to best tech and best workers. Double that if you’re building through Siberian permafrost. Pootin does not have the time. A lot of workers are fertilizing Ukrainian fields and his oil and gas industry depended on western tech for transport for a long time (remember Canadian turbines to Germany?). Poof! That is gone. Back to the shortbus hauling buckets with you.

Oh and Pootin did ask Winnie the Flu if Chicoms could build a new pipeline (and get oil at another discount). They told him to pound sand. “You build it Vova” and we will buy your oil then. They’re not stupid to invest in a collapsing turd world shithole.

Can he use rail transport instead?

Nope, infrastructure again is the chokepoint. Ever looked at russian rail network map? Look it up. It is very dense west of Ural and is very sparse to the East. You only got two major rail lines going through Siberia and they are already clogged due to war. And they are in apparently very poor state and can’t cope with the volume of traffic as it is. And you want to add oils transports in significant quantities? Good luck with that. And then there is little problems like, that army requisitioned most of locomotives, and that they are short by several orders of magnitude when it comes to tank cars, and army requisitioned most of what they have anyway, and their heavy industry has neither resources nor spare capacity to build more locomotives and rail cars.

Venezuela has a lot of oil too, also it is bankrupt.

So yes, in the end is it you, Hobot and your shortbus. Have fun with that.

          1. “How are you gonna get that oil to Asia?”
            Russia is in Asia.
            Russia has many pipelines.
            Colon has deep issues.

          2. Hobot has no clue, so barks simplistic nonsense that sounds good to those equally limited as him.

  14. I just don’t believe it possible for any state to pull the wool over the eyes of the ethical geniuses who head up The West.

You know, the same brilliant, committed, tough guys who brought on those crippling sanctions on Iran’s nuclear program.

  15. You might be right about oil sales. But Russia’s GDP is projected to grow 1.6 percent this year, while the U.S. and Canada are expected to be negative.
