The missing weapon is plausible. I wouldn’t carry away a FREE blood splattered firearm from a crime scene, but I’m sure there are those that would. However, I doubt anybody would hope to first strangle/hang themselves from a tree, but bring a gun to shoot themselves with as their “backup” plan.
