During the four years I worked at the clinic as a case manager—I was responsible for patient intake and oversight—around a thousand distressed young people came through our doors. The majority of them received hormone prescriptions that can have life-altering consequences—including sterility.
I left the clinic in November of last year because I could no longer participate in what was happening there. By the time I departed, I was certain that the way the American medical system is treating these patients is the opposite of the promise we make to “do no harm.” Instead, we are permanently harming the vulnerable patients in our care.

Because I was the main intake person, I had the broadest perspective on our existing and prospective patients. In 2019, a new group of people appeared on my radar: desisters and detransitioners. Desisters choose not to go through with a transition. Detransitioners are transgender people who decide to return to their birth gender.
The one colleague with whom I was able to share my concerns agreed with me that we should be tracking desistance and detransition. We thought the doctors would want to collect and understand this data in order to figure out what they had missed.
We were wrong. One doctor wondered aloud why he would spend time on someone who was no longer his patient.
But we created a document anyway and called it the Red Flag list. It was an Excel spreadsheet that tracked the kind of patients that kept my colleague and me up at night.
“Gender affirming care” is a euphemism for “conversion therapy”
JD – The imaginary world of Woke. You’re right, the Transition clinics are the ones engaged in conversion therapy. This “progressive” writer, Jamie Reed, articulates the issues so well. It’s like she had been listening to a Ben Shapiro podcast. She even notes the misused phrase “trust the science”. What a sad, scary tale. Just what CanUSA needs to hear. Kate has found the article of the year. There will be many more like this to come from people in the medical profession who actually care about the kids and are seeing the carnage of bad medical decisions first hand.
Strange treatment. Cut off someone’s balls in an attempt to solve a problem between their ears. Surgery to cure crazy?
I look forward to seeing the entire “Trans” community shuffling along the streets of Seattle, Portland and San Francisco and mumbling to themselves. Well done “health professionals” … well done.
This will come crashing down. I predict within 15 years and we will have thousands of mutilated “adults” who will be forever changed and then we will see the sudden increase in suicides as a result of these evil laws and “procedures” as they come to grips with the decisions made as a gullible teen.
Much of the blame rests on the influence of social media on the under developed teenaged brain and their fellow peers, including their parents who want nothing more than to be liked by their kids.

People who wouldn’t dream of agreeing with an anorexic that they were indeed a fat pig and giving liposuction have no trouble helping to mutilate similarly confused young people. There will be a reckoning.
I’ve often used this comparison. Back in the 80s, I was a high school student at an all girls school. We had a handful of anorexic students. If we had the same sort of medical “experts” then as we do now, certain parents will have been told to empty out their pantry and fridge to accommodate their daughter’s “reality”, and our school cafeteria would have had a satellite room that had no food…and we would have had bathrooms for purging with toothbrushes and breath mints set out.

I think the freakshow in a few years is going to be epic, as the transitioned feel deep regret and seek legal advice to sue their parents and doctors. Spotting a tranny is now as hilarious as spotting a bad toupee.

For the most part, I believe that people should be free to do whatever they want so long as it doesn’t infringe on my or other people’s rights and freedoms or injure people. Change teams at 18 or identify as a microwave oven, it has nothing to do with me and I’ll just steer clear of someone who’s unencumbered by reality.
That said, whatever nutcase thought it was a good idea to let children, too young to even babysit, let alone drive, buy liquor or vote, decide what sex they are should be punished.
I know two families with trans kids. Both started as girls and now identify as boys. One had a long history of being a bit unstable and making poor decisions. That one came out the closet years ago but only after volunteering at a local LGTlmnop centre, suddenly realized that she wasn’t gay, she was the wrong sex. Even her far left leaning mom says “she’s got issues” which I took as a sign that her own family doesn’t think this is a good idea.
The other girl comes lives with her mom after the parents split up. I knew the mom back in high school and it doesn’t surprise me at all that she raised a kid with mental issues. I wouldn’t put it past her that the transition was all mom’s idea as she craves the attention she never fully received back in high school. Hey look at how interesting I am! I have a trans kid!
The dad is normal enough and is just trying to not lose touch with his kid whom he loves unconditionally and of course is at a disadvantage with because mom gets to vent all her crazy ideas at the child, unfiltered. Poor old dad has to just hang on and enjoy the visits that he’s legally allowed as he watches his child make a terrible mistake.
Is it me, or are the majority of ‘sudden trans kid’ cases when the parents have just split up been driven by the mother? And I don’t mean 55/45 majority, I mean like 98/2 majority. Seems like it’s always the father begging for sanity to prevail to save his child(ren) while the mother doctor-shops to get the kid(s) their “gender affirming care”.

In both my examples the parents were separated.
Would it sound harsh if, after witnessing the absolutely vile invective hurled by these people on the internets, that I no longer GAF what happens to them and am happy they’ve removed themselves from the gene pool permanently?

Sorry to make the connection, but the NAZIs had clever ways to make the families of disabled children feel good about handing them over to the state. Most were killed outright, but some suffered through experimentation.

Having witnessed more than my share of money grubbing pill prescribing so called “Doctors” in my lifetime, I’m fully inclined to buy that Lock stock n barrel.

There have already been a few lawsuits, and I expect many more in the decade ahead as young people realize how they have been butchered based on dubious science.

My cousin’s 110 pound grand-daughter thought she was a boy. She’s dead now at 20. I can only guess suicide. You try to cure mental illness, not encourage it.

Thank you. I never met her. She lived in Ontario. I live in Alberta. I was looking for her grandfather’s obituary and found hers plus some newspaper articles about her being trans and a missing person.
