War On Agriculture

Kevin Hursh;

The most blatant example is European farm policy mandating less fertilizer, fewer crop protection products and more organic production. The measures are particularly severe in the Netherlands where agriculture is in a downward spiral with thousands of farms being expropriated.

The Canadian issue sparking the most controversy is the 30 percent reduction target for fertilizer emissions. Although the government continues to maintain this will never mean a mandated reduction in fertilizer use, some farmers and farm groups are skeptical. The government used to promise that firearms would never be confiscated and look how that has evolved.

Less obvious to the average producer is the switch in emphasis on government funding for research. Increasingly, research money is tied to projects tied to climate change mitigation.

In the near future, farms with net sales of more than $1 million per year will have to complete an environmental farm plan to receive AgriInvest support. This isn’t totally unreasonable, but it seems like the thin edge of the wedge with climate change considered by the woke culture to be an emergency that requires all sorts of drastic action.

Related: Farmers say they are still struggling. Restaurants say price increases are pushing them to closure. Critics say supermarket prices are artificially inflated without international competition. Politicians, leery of offending voters, don’t say much at all.

Also: Edinburgh “bans meat” from schools, hospitals and nursing homes.

  1. Hursh is a fckn idiot.
Cram your “Climate mitigation” in your cram hole, dude.
Explain, in detail, why the ice sheets receded and why much of Canada – the shield – is still rising from their retreat.
Then tells us the date this warming process stopped.
Then describe what stopped this warming process.
Then tell us extremists how less than 1.5% of world “emissions” produced by Canada make the world hotter.
    And then by how much.
Then tell us if you even know what the #1 “greenhouse gas” is.
Then cram it up your cramhole again you idiot.

    1. The far-right faction of the population, those who don’t support any climate initiatives and have all sorts of conspiracy theories on government overreach, are a gift to the woke movement. The Conservative Party is branded with these viewpoints by their political opponents.

Elections are about many issues. Along with climate change mitigation, health care, the nation’s economy and the cost of living will all be in play. The Conservative pledge to end the carbon tax will need to also include a credible plan to curb greenhouse gas emissions in order to resonate with urban regions.

Buddy … you’re obviously part of the unreasonable FAR RIGHT who hate the planet, and don’t believe in the 90% (sic) science of CAGW. /sarc.

I have another plan for how to resonate with the “urban” regions (an obvious dog whistle about white, English-speaking Canadians) … stop sending them food. Stop sending them all petrochemical products.

    2. #1 greenhouse gas is oxygen.

Created by the process of photosynthesis from sunlight, carbon dioxide, water, and other nutrients inside a greenhouse.

#2 greenhouse gas is water vapour.

Produced in a greenhouse from that plants growing there and evaporation from the soil underneath.

      1. Doesn’t plankton in the oceans create oxygen? Or are you saying that the earth Is a greenhouse and that’s why we’re fckn alive?

    3. “New University of Melbourne research has revealed that ice ages over the last million years ended when the tilt angle of the Earth’s axis was approaching higher values.”

You could’ve Googled this in less time than you typed your screed here. It’s clear you have no interest in actually knowing anything.

    1. Not going to get to the Bong.
He surrounds himself with lots of security.
But one can get to his subordinates, cut him off at the knees.

  2. “I’ll be screaming loudly if this ever morphs into a mandated reduction in fertilizer use.”

Start screaming because that’s exactly where this is headed. If you find history lessons confusing, find someone smart to help you.

“I don’t even harbour a lot of resentment to the idea of needing an environmental farm plan to quality for some free annual money from the government.”
Nothing is “free” ya dope. A farmer is the last person I’d think would need to be told that. And today’s innocuous sounding “farm plan” is tomorrow’s visit from an Ottawa Climate Change apparatchik with his “Here’s what you need to do” list.

“The far-right faction of the population, those who don’t support any climate initiatives and have all sorts of conspiracy theories on government overreach, are a gift to the woke movement.”
Oh, so “government overreach” is a conspiracy theory yet you admit to the government’s slow but steady gun confiscation directives which if memory serves was labelled a conspiracy theory as well. “No one is taking a hunter’s guns away from them” was an oft used shibboleth coming out of the mouths of progressive liars as I recall. Aaaaaand here we are.

    “I consider myself a moderate.”
No kidding huh? I think I see the problem.

    1. Many farmers have been rolling over forever knowing their way of life and how they look at things doesn’t mean squat to the progs . It wasn’t always the case, I worked for a farmer when I was young that blew the tire off a new neighbors plow over a shady land deal. The neighbor was crooked. Good times 🙂

  3. I’ve been trying for weeks to get the media to ask Rachel (NDP) what her plan is to counter the Liberal’s farmer fertilizer reduction plan. Crickets. It’s like the media supports the NDP.

  4. Nutcases.. If I have to buy a zero carbon hunting rifle and spend my zero carbon holiday hunting in our zero carbon forest for some zero carbon meat..

Aww f@#$ it.. I will just get my meat and cigarettes from the natives.. Love those guys..

  5. Ideologically driven politians risk society’s energy and food supplies, with a tenth of the knowledge needed to make such decisions.

And we’re stupid enough to vote them in.

  6. Because politicians like The Drama Teacher have no idea how to make a payroll, they think that farmers are spraying as much fertilizer as they can to get crop yields up, and can easily handle a 30% reduction. Of course the farmers are using as little as they can get away with, because fertilizer is a cost that they have to put against their revenue, which means at best they will produce 30% less crops when they reduce the inputs

    1. At least 30%, probably more than that. I takes a certain quantity to grow the plant, in this case I am thinking corn. Dropping the nutrients for grain development will be beyond a 1:1 ratio. Now if the corn plant can fix nitrogen from the atmosphere this would mitigate the issue. However another nutrient would become the limiting factor.

    2. JD

Quick Dick McDick layed that out as clearly as possible. Its a cost as are the hundreds of others farmers deal with…daily.

  7. The elected sociopaths dancing to Gang Green will do to agriculture what they have done and continue to do to forestry. Aside from forcing reduced productivity through fertilizer reduction mandates, I suspect that through their prostrated obedience to UN Agenda 2030. they will want to “preserve” (re-establish) 30% of prairie ecosystems by arbitrary bio-geoclimatic variant. I suspect that is part of what is behind the Dutch agenda. The Spawn-Fuhrer’s father(?) knew what he was doing by keeping property rights out of his constitution.

  8. Economies need stability. The Liberal government we have right now is the most unstable government in our history. I’ve never seen more interventionist policy in my lifetime with this putrid government invading industries and altering or removing freedom on all fronts. Until adults run the show (for a prolonged period of time) we won’t see our economy improve. It will be stagnation.

  9. Trudeau like Rutte in Netherlands is expicitly following the WEF policy. Sadly most Canadians are blissfully unaware

  10. Commies always go for the farmers first. Every. Single. Time.
It’s like these people never pick up a book.

  11. Just completely ignore the feds. Alberta and Saskatchewan have all the raw materials they need to make enormous supplies of fertilizer. But the best way to deal with the Ottawa fascists is to ignore them and carry on.

    1. Yes and shut off their funding. Very easy to do. As it is all by voluntary agreement with the Provinces.
Yes it says there is Equalization in Trudeaus Constitution Act. But all the Funding is by Provincia Voluntary Agreement.
The Federal Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act.
All outside the Constitution. Give Ottawa 30 days written notice then shut the tap.
And if they persist, shut the TransCanada and all rail traffic crossing through Alberta.

And stand your ground. Forget convoys to Ottawa. Put 20 miles of trucks on the railway tracks and the Highways.
      Blockade Ottawa until they listen

  12. Now they’re starting to ban meat from nursing homes?
Wow, if the insanity spreads maybe it’s true, better to burn out than fade away.
Maybe just maybe , I’ll live to see the progs with the bright ideas running for the hills.
Until then the people that preach tolerance have not a fing clue.
The only reason they push it as a virtue, yet cancel anyone calling them out, or not playing their game.
Is to try and keep a fire from being lit.
    Interesting times.

  13. No need to ban meats as we are headed that only a minority within cities will able to afford it. USDA surveyed 35000 cattle ranchers of which 65 % were usable, but still a worthy survey and 28.9 million beef cows in 2022, 3.6 % less than previous year according to Allendale, the lowest inventory of beef cattle since 1962.

Canola crush plants built not for edible oils but for renewable diesel, which takes acres from food grains, while we inevitably will be limited to how much fertilizer we can apply to fill these increasing demands.

Kevin is right of how they will boil the frog on us, we are in Agrinvest, crop insurance and multiple FCC loans.

I have been a witness of how my parents lived off the land with no money, those images frequent my thoughts every day, as lets not be naive, this is what just transition is all about. We all have to decide in the near future what type of life we want to have going forward for the west because an unabated Ottawa establishment will be the demise of what we have achieved here!

    1. “we are in Agrinvest, crop insurance and multiple FCC loans.”

Ah yes, you’re spongers, like so many farmers.

  14. And every acre of land covered with solar panels is lost to alternative uses, such as grazing, or farming, or other productive uses. This is a fact no enviro will ever admit, but it contributes to their anti-growth WEF agenda.

  15. Just a response John to your comment regarding “property Rights”.
Justin’s step dad could not have done that without the betrayal and help of the conservative premiers of Albert and Ontario and the NDP premier of Saskatchewan.

To often conservatives let their own off the hook.

    1. PET offered all Provincial Premiers that he would put Property Rights in the Constitution Act 1982.
The Communist Premier of Alberta. Premier Peter Lougheed, took 15 Minutes to strongly say NO and HELL NO. He rejected property rights for Albertans without consulting Albertans.
He was more Commie than Trudeau.
The only Premier who spoke for putting property rights in the Constitution Act 1982 was Premier Stirling Lyon of Manitoba. A true Conservative. Lougheed was a POS Commie.
Lougheed also created the huge mess with Public Sector Unions an grew the Bureaucracy like areal Commie.

      1. Watcher.

        “Huge Mess” indeed.
There are your Million or 2 of our poulation that are for thost part brain dead liberal sycophants…that produce the only shit known to man that cant be used as fertilizer.

PARASITES…and they flippin multiply as such.

The True Drain on Canada’s GDP…they produce SFA.

One would hooe that in an independant Alberta, Public Service Unions – Defacto Marxist useless idiots, are never allowed to organize…ever.

  16. Menu choices.. The fact remains that if the elites were put on them menu.. Seriously on the menu.. They would find other ways to amuse themselves than force me to eat livestock feed..

  17. Unless every farmer stands up to all these organizations and says, NO! This will happen. You must support the farm Organizations that are fighting back, GET involved support THOSE who are fighting back and vote out those who do not support farmers rights.
Get rid of the hanger ons, just because you’ve been elected for 20 years doesn’t make you competant.
Get rid of the beaurcrats that are following socialists agendas and stand up for your rights.
It has been a very easy 20 years for a lot of young farmers they haven’t learned what survival takes and when Farm Credit pulls their loans because they are not using less fertilizer and chemicals what will they do?
Look to the Dutch for what is coming to Canada and support and make sure ALL your elected officials are pushing back on any globalist agenda! #DutchFarmers
