      2. The reason the Germans didn’t freeze is because they filled up their natural gas reservoirs with Russian gas during the summer of 2022. That will be gone by spring. Then they will have to rely on LNG which is 4 times more expensive than Russian gas. The winter of 2023-2024 will be more interesting – unless the Germans go back to buying Russian gas while supplying German tanks to Poland.

          Poland is no longer showing interest in buying German tanks. They are getting hundreds of Abrams and K2s with deliveries already commencing. A lot of European countries will move towards US, Korean or French tanks as Germans do not paint themselves as particularly reliable suppliers. Also, even prior to war, Poland was very unhappy with the speed of refits of their fleet of Leos and the first decision to purchase Abrams was finalized prior to Siberian Mongol infestation of Ukraine.

    1. This will be a mix of different versions with different country specific equipment and mods. It will take a while to get them all sorted out. Still, this is an equivalent of two to three tank battalions (three old two new). So enough tanks for two mech brigades plus some for training. Good, not enough but valuable none the less.
