We Don’t Need No Stinking Giant Fans

Hey, can we try this?

Rural voters delivered a crushing blow to plans for a 375 megawatt wind farm in mid-Michigan, where several local renewable energy ordinances were defeated across three townships and multiple officials were thrown from office for supporting the project.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, midterm voters resoundingly rejected ordinances enabling the Montcalm Wind project by Apex Clean Energy, a developer attempting to erect 75 turbines on farmland in Montcalm County northeast of Grand Rapids.

  1. Lets give them the benefit of the doubt, and say that it makes the Michigan average of 33.2%… that makes it a 124.5 MW installation that needs to be backed up by an equivalent amount of dispatchable power (coal/natural gas/hydro)

and by equivalent amount, I mean the nameplate not the production.

  2. Ugh…one small light in an otherwise dark state.

We are still saddled with that shiny faced “person with a period”, as it would say, although it’s probably far past that point in it’s life. I don’t know it’s pronouns, so it will remain “it” until further notice.

Saddled with 3 horrible proposals, one of which is horrifying (allows the murder of the unborn and genital mutilation of underage persons).

I’m thinking Florida is a great place to be.

    1. Sounds like you’re stuck in the land of the wicked witch of the Midwest. About done with the place myself. Florida looks better every day.

  3. There appears to be a modicum of democracy in Michigan. Up here in Canuckistan, we get these giant blenders foisted upon us with no room for objection. Same thing for the giant solar waffle irons. Encouraging to see some push-back.
