  1. Great news everybody!
    https://globalnews.ca/news/9162216/canada-population-growth-statistics-canada-sept-2022/

“Canada has seen its highest population growth rate since the height of the baby boom, mostly driven by immigration, according to Statistics Canada data released Wednesday.
As of July 1, the number of people living in Canada sat at an estimated 38.9 million, an increase of 0.7 per cent, or 284,982 people, from April 1, 2022.
The estimate, marking the highest pace of quarterly growth since 1957, represents an increase of more than 3,100 people per day.”

Hopefully they are all Muslims and POC. Thank you, PM Trudeau. Diversity is truly our strength!

    1. Progressive Pat – Show some respect, it’s orange shirt day. I presume you are wearing an orange shirt for Truth and Reconciliation and an orange hat for the NDP. BTW I just read that the Colonists gave Indigenous Americans blankets with smallpox which didn’t work:
““The infection on the blankets was apparently old, so no one could catch smallpox from the blankets. Besides, the Indians just had smallpox—the smallpox that reached Fort Pitt had come from Indians—and anyone susceptible to smallpox had already had it.””. https://www.history.com/news/colonists-native-americans-smallpox-blankets

On the other hand, Native Americans gave the colonists tobacco, which worked really well: https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/latest-global-data-finds-nearly-8-million-deaths-from-smoking-in-2019-and-90-of-new-smokers-addicted-by-age-25-805072175.html#:~:text=The%20number%20of%20smokers%20worldwide,5%20deaths%20in%20males%20worldwide.

      Reparations?

  2. Hmmm, I’m sensing a real Steve Winwood vibe to your personal list.
You wouldn’t happen to be an follower of the D.E.N.N.I.S. System, would you?

    1. John..

      Spencer Davis group
Yep, they were on of my fav bands bk in the day.
      “Keep on Runnin…Keep on hiding……..

Damn, now thats gonna be in my head all freakin day..!!

    1. My great uncle was in the Derbent Regiment 115 or so years ago. He wasn’t from Dagestan. He was drafted at Saratov and sent there. Russia is using their 25% non-Russians as cannon fodder.

      1. Draft Europeans to fight in Asia.
Draft Asians to fight in Europe.
SOP in that prison of nations. This way they are less likely to desert as none ever really wants to fight for their jailer.

    1. He makes a comment about his mission and also seems like he’s dome this exact type of mission before. There’s no real battle here.

My guess? They’re strictly there to draw artillery fire for counterbattery operations. I Also think when the helicopters are lobbing unguided rounds, they are doing the same thing.

Apparently the Ukrainians are elite at counter battery fire.

      1. “My guess? They’re strictly there to draw artillery fire for counterbattery operations. ”

Possibly, I thought they were simply probing and mapping enemy responses, artillery reaction times etc. You may be right too, one does not contradict the other.

    1. Gop isn’t going to impeach the prospect of being able to campaign against a drooling idiot in 2024.
If he is to be impeached let the dems take him out.

      1. The drooling idiot won last time, and Americans still can’t run an election so there is nothing keeping the drooling idiot out of the Whitehouse again.

      2. Impeachment is not about elections: it is a tactic to distract and disable this incomparably hateful administration from pursuing policy goals that are destroying the nation. Apparently some people missed the lessons Dems provided during the Trump years. I fear that includes the remarkably lazy and impotent Mitch McConnell.

  3. 60s – Midnight Rambler, Rolling Stones
    70s – Freebird, Lynyrd Skynyrd
    80s – New Year’s Day, U2
90s – The Day I Tried to Live, Soundgarden
00s – No One Knows, QOTSA

    Happy Friday!

  4. Further to my two posts yesterday, here is a clear, readable article describing the tense situation in and about the town of Lyman, where 3,000 Russian troops are in danger of being surrounded:
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2022/09/29/russian-correspondent-thousands-of-russian-troops-are-about-to-get-trapped-in-the-east/

The danger of tactical nuclear weapons use is very real.

Btw, the Blazing Cat Fur site hasn’t posted anything in 24 hours. Anyone know what’s up?

    1. Meanwhile Russians on offensive in Bakhmut and troop build up along the northern front.
There may be some truth in Bismark’s words: Never fight with Russian. On your every stratagem they answer unpredictable stupidity.
      The Germans should know.

      1. Easy there, about one regiment from Donbabwe with marginal combat value to begin with, one battalion of BARS, some spetsnaz (who will probably break through). It is the strategic position that counts.

      2. A tactic Siberian used in Chechnya and tried to use around Sievierodonetsk is to leave limited avenues for escape for surrounded forces and mine and arty them when they try to run. The potential for escape encourages escape and reduces incentives for desperate stands… what’s good for the goose…

    2. Seems the mood is much less tense the closer one gets to the front lines. Some in the West are panicking especially after Nord Stream. Popular opinion in the east is tenser but more sober. Ukrainians stoically carry on making orcs good.

      Thoughts on the matter:

Pootin had two options: use nukes or call mobilization. He has chosen [im]mobilization, if he now chooses nukes this will be an utter humiliation for russia and within russia. There is only that much bullshit even a whipped russian mongrel can stomach (which is why they are voting with their feet, more escaped by now than were initially deployed). Using nukes to settle a special three day military operation after mobilization… I don’t think even Siberians will stomach that, maybe I am giving them too much credits, after all they never disappoint to disappoint.

Internationally even his loyal fellators like India would probably turn away, although Zimbabwe, Venezuela and NK probably would not. Chicoms clearly don’t want him to do it and I don’t think he has power to cross Xi. One possible scenario is that siloviki will allow him to do it and then overthrow him the next day to show the world how disgusted they are. That would be a very russian way of doing things. He has likely thought of that…

He doesn’t have to fire nukes to use nukes. If he moves tactical nuke units to the newly “russian annexed (occupied)” territory then he is putting things on knife’s edge as any attack on them is an attack on russian nuclear deterrent. This in a way would throw the nuclear ball back at Ukrainians. Will he do it? If he wants to end the war with borders as of now, he might.

Most of the winds blow east to southeast, so fallout wise…

I am not an optimist. Unlike many optimists I have never expected Ukrainians to be able to get Crimea back. If by some miracle they managed to do it, Pootin might use nukes.

Pootin is devolving though, he used to be an evil genius, but his mental deterioration progresses at seemingly increasing pace. He wanted to be Peter Great who brought russia into 18th century. Pootin is succeeding, he too is bringing russia into 18th century.

So this brings me back to the conclusion I have reached months ago: getting Ukraine into NATO is essential and much more important than any territorial changes. Also Isolating russia from civilization is essential.

  5. More Russian desperation cuz of new sanctions in response to annexing of Ukraine territory:

“The worst is full-blown Russian retaliation and the use of oil exports as a weapon, which could deliver a bullish shock to the market, pushing prices as high as $150 a barrel…Such a scenario could increase Russia’s oil income by as much as 50 percent while exacerbating global recessionary pressures…the Biden administration and EU and UK policymakers have proven themselves incompetent in the current energy crisis, and the price cap could be their coup de grace.”

  6. 60s – Whole Lotta Love – Led Zeppelin
    70s – Burn – Deep Purple
    80s – Eyes of a Stranger – Queensryche
90s – Settled Down Like Rain – The Jayhawks
20s – Fear of a Blank Planet – Porcupine Tree
    10s – Shadowmaker – Lovebites
    20s – Manners – Band-Maid

  7. Ha! I like your dedication to Steve Winwood, Robert. I am a huge fan of Blind Faith … a sorely underrated supergroup because they lacked the “radio hits”. I chose a slightly different Supergroup as emblematic of the 1960’s.

1960’s:Cream Sunshine of Your Love Because the 60’s were ALL ABOUT psychedelic rock.
1970’s: Stones Can’t you Hear Me Knocking The most PERFECT blues-rock song ever written.
    1980’s: AC/DC Back in Black
    1990’s: Beck Where It’s At
2000’s: Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication

  8. I soooooo appreciate all of your lists, everyone! They’re so much better than the “official” lists I pulled from.

    1. Thank you for doing this, Robert … and as a thankyou …

      Dear Mr. Fantasy

Because … as I said the 1960’s were ALL ABOUT psychedelic rock. Just marvel at an incredibly YOUNG Winwood just shred the guitar and lyrics of this seminal psychedelic song.

  9. More Emergencies Act inquiry liars:
    “Were any loaded firearms found?”
    “No charges have been laid.”
“Yes or no, were any loaded firearms found, as was reported in the media?”
“No firearm charges have been laid.”
    “Were any loaded firearms found?”
“As I indicated, no firearm charges have been laid.”
    Ad nauseum.

  10. Looks like the porn piano player has just applied for NATO membership, within hours of Russia annexing the east into the Federation.

    “5,977.
That’s how many nuclear warheads Russia has, according to an estimate by the Federation of American Scientists (FAS). Around 1,500 are retired and due to be dismantled, the organization says. Most of the remaining warheads are strategic—larger weapons that can be used over long distances—and the rest are smaller tactical weapons.
Russia is believed to have more nuclear weapons than any other country. It is followed by the U.S., which has an estimated 5,428 warheads, according to FAS, and the two together have approximately 90% of all nuclear warheads.
Seven other countries are known or widely believed to possess nuclear weapons: China (350), France (290), the U.K. (225), Pakistan (165), India (160), Israel (90) and North Korea (20).”

    Happy Friday.
