When The FBI Does It, That Means That It’s Not Illegal

Matt Taibbi: The FBI really better have something “pulverizing” on Trump, because otherwise we’ve just witnessed one of the dumbest moves in the history of politics

We’ve reached the stage of American history where everything we see on the news must first be understood as political theater. In other words, the messaging layer of news now almost always dominates the factual narrative, with the latter often reported so unreliably as to be meaningless anyway. Yesterday’s sensational tale of the FBI raiding the Mar-a-Lago home of former president Donald Trump is no different.

As of now, it’s impossible to say if Trump’s alleged offense was great, small, or in between. But this for sure is a huge story, and its hugeness extends in multiple directions, including the extraordinary political risk inherent in the decision to execute the raid. If it backfires, if underlying this action there isn’t a very substantial there there, the Biden administration just took the world’s most reputable police force and turned it into the American version of the Tonton Macoute on national television. We may be looking at simultaneously the dumbest and most inadvertently destructive political gambit in the recent history of this country.

There they go again: Twitter suspends @nypost reporter @PaulSperry30 after he criticizes the FBI’s political double standard between FBI’s home raid of President Trump v. FBI’s mishandling of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s illegal home email server.

  1. They should find whatever they plant. Leaking will be timed to do the most damage. Now they can claim anything they make up to use was “found”.

  2. Late to the party Matt. 2016 was when FBI publicly proved they are not in pursuit of justice. Some would argue it goes back to WACO or even it’s inception. And those are good arguments. Here’s what I know. Democrats are not gaining any supporters, and that is what this is about.

    1. the FBI has been a political influence and blackmail operation for all of it’s history. Some people are just waking up to that fact.

      1. J. Edgar was Director for over 40 years for a very good reason. His files on every popular figure, political or not, were the worst kept secret in Washington.

  3. Wake me when the shooting starts because until it does, these fckers will keep gaining ground.

    1. Registered Republicans outnumber registered Democrats by something like 3-1 in the unvaccinated population. There won’t be enough of the Dems around later to occupy the ground they gain now.

  4. I find myself wondering how in any sense, a genuine Trump supporter sees this government as anything but illegitimate at this point?

    1. Yep. As someone said on the hellsite Twitter: “FBI raiding the home of the former president of the opposite party is a Rubicon moment.”

  5. Note to all future republican candidates, it’s a good idea to have room in your house solely filled with as many boxes as can fit, filled with reams of papers, continuously printed with 4 point type of public domain information.

All because the security apparatus of the democrat party might investigate you one day for offending them.

  6. Butt when the RINO’s had both houses, they did Not investigate, or do anything to Hillery for her much worst acts. They are as much the problem as the dims are.

    1. You are right but it is unfortunately worse than that,

when Durham had evidence that Sussman was paid by Hillary to fabricate dirt on Trump, the judge dismissed that and declared Sussman not guilty.

So even when Republicans do try to do something, the deep state , the democrat swamp is so powerful that nothing happens.

Can that democrat mafia be dismantled without violence? without a civil war? time will tell

John F. Kennedy famously said, “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

  7. Biden obviously envies Obama his position as “gun salesman of the year,” and is determined to take the title for himself.

Garland’s judgement is so bad that I expect him to pull a Ruby Ridge, or Waco before the mid-terms.

    1. it could happen as soon as next sunday august 14 ; there is a peaceful protest planned at the FBI building.

it may degenerate fast and the FBI will be shooting people.
