I Want A New Country

Just get on with it.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has asked a former Saskatchewan Party MLA and former MP who recently was a part of the Wexit movement to co-host “in-house” meetings about increasing Saskatchewan autonomy.

Allan Kerpan — who served in opposition with the Saskatchewan Party and was also a Reform MP — and veteran SP MLA Lyle Stewart (Thunder Creek) have been chosen by Moe to lead the closed-door meetings across the province this month.

“The premier has been speaking about some sort of independence from Ottawa for quite a while in terms of the economy,” Kerpan told the CBC’s Morning Edition host Ted Deller on Monday.

    1. Sung to the tune of help me Rhonda:

      Help me Vonda:

Well since Canada put me down I’ve been out doing in my head
I come in late at night and in the morning I just lay in bed

Well, Vonda, you look so fine (look so fine in all that dust)
And I know it wouldn’t take much time
For you to help me Vonda
Help me get Canada out of my heart

      etc., etc.

    2. No, Lickmuffin, I insist on 150 kms North East of Uranium City for the new capitol. With no money ever assigned to new infrastructure. All the department heads must move their or lose their jobs. Nothing better for morale than having the boss unable to look over your shoulder.

  1. What happens with SK will require a likeminded AB Premier and the November election in the U.S. to de-fang the communists. Then talks with the red “flyover” states can begin. Seeing how political prisoners and no consequence rule by decree has become Canada’s “new normal” we really do need to make drastic changes. Alaska to Texas.

  2. Yes trust the pharma Man moe…

Vaccines are safe as well according to Moe…

You trust moe for more Independence…

  3. “Kerpan says he does not support a separation movement.”

Opening negotiations with surrender. Everything from this point on is a waste of time. Bargaining strength comes from your option to get up and leave the table. How can these people get it wrong every time.

  4. The eastern elites don’t understand the level of discontent within the country.

They can’t get their head around something as elemental as the truck convoy. They don’t see a bigger picture.

The country doesn’t work. The proles from coast to coast know it or they sense it. The Ottawa crowd live in an air tight environment. They look out their window and ask, ” What is it that they want?”

It doesn’t occur to Ottawa that there could be something wrong.

So good on Moe for initiating this. It’s a tiny baby step but it sends a message. The country cannot survive the way it has in the past – serving the center. The regions are flexing their muscles. Good on them. It’s a start.

  5. I was at one of these meetings. The reason that it was by invite only was to prevent 3 hours of yelling and screaming. They asked local business owners and community people. Not all were SP fans BTW. I will give them credit for at least asking our opinions on what Sask needs to look at for the future. Reasonable questions were asked, and mostly reasonable suggestions given. Try that with an “open door” meeting. No big secrets here guys. The theme seems to be autonomy from the feds.

  6. I like to remind the anti-secessionists that while Canada is virtue signalling undying support for Ukraine, it is Ukraine that seceded from the Soviet Union in 1991 because it did not want to be ruled by far away Moscow….

  7. I’m only voting for separatist parties now. Canada is a failed democracy and Trudeau’s government are authoritarian control freaks. Nothing can pull this country out of this tailspin, it’s going to crash.

Is there any possibility of North Dakota and Montana shifting their borders significantly farther north into Alberta and Saskatchewan? We have much more in common with those US states than Canadian provinces. /s

    1. LC.

      My dream.
Ab/Sask Join as a pair of awesome flyover states for the dems.
I would vote for that – at least THEY have a real CONSTITUTION…one not so easily trashed.

    2. This! Joining those states would be the most immediate and complete solution. The feds in DC have very little power in those states, and they will split from the union before going along to get along with unconstitutional mandates from Biden. They are basically autonomous from DC. We need to join them and be autonomous from Ottawa (worse than DC) and autonomous as they are from DC. Independence won’t work. Not enough time to do it now that the communist ship of Canada is already 3/4ths sunk. Had independence started 20 years ago, yes. But this late into the spiralling flushing toilet of Chinada, the only out is an immediate out and that means joining a US state. Independence is more appealing but impractical. Would take too long, and we’ll be eating zoo animals like Venezuela before the first meeting on independence even takes place. Joining US only out left now because of time limitations. That or we go down with the Canadian ship captain turd navigated purposely right into an iceberg on a clear sunny day.

  8. Every provincial leader with a US border should be working together to force the feds to remove injected only entry, which they just extended until Sept 30. If you’re in a tourist business, you were locked down for 2 years and now, rather than trying to maximize on the 3 months you have to make up, they’re restricting your business. I expect nothing from BC or Quebec on this but the rest should do it.

  9. During the 2020 Sask election campaign I got a phone call from the Sask Party asking for my support. I asked her “What is the date for the referendum on separation from Canada?” Following a stunned silence I said I would commit my support when Scott Moe announces a date for a referendum, followed by “Mr. Trudeau, kiss my _ss”. Funny but they didn’t call me after that.

    1. Wouldn’t it be great if a new Federal party were created with the name expletive deleted Trudeau?

  10. The comments over there make me want out of Canada even more. I have virtually nothing in common with that ‘basket of deplorables’.

  11. Moe and Kerpan are doing what Preston did. Reject the only stance that can get results.
Deflecting discontent in order to protect our CON-federation.

Once again Ignoring the advise give to reformers by Ted Byfield in the 80’s. “Only when they think we might get out will they do anything to keep us in.”

  12. L – Surrender monkey strategy:
Ask to rearrange deck chairs, instead of filling lifeboats & waving bye to the sinking ship of state.

  13. This amounts to nothing. He’s said that he’d be in talks to be more autonomous for years. Never does anything. Moe lost all respect when he said he’d “lost patience” with unvaccinated. “Patience”, like unvaccinated had a duty to comply with his vaccine pushing. No-one had such an obligation in the first place, his expectation of such, was misplaced.
Unless autonomy talks immediately result in…
    1) Making SHA give vax passports to everyone or no one this fall when covid hysteria resumes
    2) Ignoring all Federal firearms restrictions
    3) Getting a provincial police force, yesterday
    4) ignoring all and any federal anti resource extraction rules
    5) not shipping out food or oil or potash until we get what we want

I will not be happy or satisfied with these “talks”. Since 0% of the above has a chance in hell of EVER happening with this guy. He can go pound sand. He’s a bought off totalitarian like the rest. His talks will amount to exactly nothing of consequence ever happening to make Western Canada less of a slave to whomever Toronto and Montreal elect.

If we’re lucky the most his talks will amount to is some sort of structured carbon tax deal for his farming base of voters. If he keeps them happy and still able to travel to Mexico or Arizona all winter (vaxxed right up). He’ll think the talks were successful.

    1. Oh and Lyle Stewart is a farmer and was Ag minister at one point. May still be. Decent person, but these “autonomy” talks will only be geared toward some half hearted carbon tax relief for farmers.
Nothing will be done about all carbon tax, gun ownership rights for legal owners, medical privacy, medical autonomy, ignoring vax mandates, or ignoring anti-resource extraction fed “laws”.
All Moe has to do is shut down everything Sask exports (fertilizer, food, uranium and oil) for a week max and Ottawa would be forced to make real changes. Sask is basically a mini Russia/Ukraine as far as resources, all the resources being sanctioned or supply chain restrained by the Russia/Ukraine conflict equals everything Saskatchewan has in abundance.
The fact Moe never plays hard ball when it would be soooooo easy right now, means he’s a lame duck conservative. Useless.

      1. Moe needs to sanction Ottawa and any province unfriendly to Saskatchewan’s right to produce food, oil, potash etc. Also sanction Ottawa and any province their natural gas, wheat, and potash.
Why Saskatchewan is experiencing high fuel, food, meat and fertilizer prices when it all comes from here and Alberta is the stupidest thing ever. Stop the exports of our fuel and food, at least that way Trudeau can’t starve us here this winter. At least we’ll be able to afford heating our homes. The world will be at exponentially high fuel and food prices by fall. SK farmers may not be able to afford fuel to harvest their crops in 2 more months.
First thing SK gov needs to do is stockpile provincial oil, gas, and food.
He can cover the sanctions with, “we’re temporarily halting exports until we can build our own provincial reserves”. It pisses me off to no end that beef, oil, nat gas are all going up in THIS province. Makes zero sense. Any SK leader with a brain would be stockpiling right now for winter. It’s the coldest province in confederation. We have ample food, oil and nat gas to take care of our own… but no. Moe will keep shipping it out, then harvest will come and the farmers will by crying they can’t afford the fuel and grain drying to harvest their crops, putting more food shortages. Stockpile fuel NOW moe, or come harvest mark my words, you’re gov will have to subsidize fuel for farmers and the rest of provincial population. Just so you can ship it all out of province again this winter.

  14. Here’s what’s going to happen (my prediction). Fuel and food shortages continue to escalate into harvest. Farmers protest high fuel prices and carbon tax. Moe farmer-centric for votes, then uses SK money to subsidize fuel and federal carbon tax to keep farmers happy.
Farmers get crops off, grain exported, rest of SK experiences high heating costs and food bills all winter. Problem with inflation and Ottawa continues to worsen.
Alternate reality… what could be done instead but won’t be…
Moe uses SK money now to stockpile local oil/gas/grain, pays oil gas and farmers well for it, keeps it in Province, tells rest of Canada (excluding our brother Alberta) they can have some again WHEN Ottawa removes Carbon tax, and approves pipelines and refineries. Come harvest farmers are happy, no carbon tax, good grain prices. Oil workers go back to work and by next summer trains free up for grain and potash because pipelines opening up, meaning lower freight for farmers transporting grain. Win-win

  15. #sanctionottawa

Sick of SK/AB handling these Laurentian tyrants with kid gloves. We have all the grain, meat, fertilizer, uranium, oil, gas… Why are we always capitulating when we have all the power. Especially right now when there’s a shortage of these things because of sanctions and Ukraine/Russia conflict. Let’s make the shortage worse in Ottawa and see what happens to Turd’s dictatorial teflon persona then.
