    1. Some troll just posted a screenshot in that thread stating that in Canada:
      – Political Rights are 40 / 40
      – Civil Liberties are 58 / 60

      Of course, this is NOT true. Just ask anyone who was on the streets of Ottawa as Trudeau’s thugs were beating/stomping them down. Or ask anyone whose bank account was frozen because they dared donate to a peaceful organization who “dared” challenge Trudeau.

      But many Canadians don’t realize that “denial” is not just a River in Egypt. So much so that I’m now convinced that the favourite pastime in Canada is not hockey but is, in fact, DENIAL of Reality.

        Denial of Reality is what has afflicted 80% of the population in Canada with at least 5% still convinced there is some TERRIBLE Plague ready to pounce upon them if they don’t wear their Soother….the paper mask.

        I include most of my non Immediate Family in the upper 80…

        Where civilized are emasculated at every step.
        Where bureaucrats rule with no checks or balances.
        Where every government agency is actively seeking to deny economic opportunity to the majority and to make people dependent to the whim of the government.
        Where you have no right to self defense.
        Where you have no property rights.
        Where you receive preferential treatment in courts if your skin color isn’t white or you have turd world religious beliefs.
        Where government enforcers are free to abuse their power without ever facing any consequences.
        Where all MSM is bought and paid for.
        Where there is no freedom of speech.
        Where there is no freedom of mobility.
        Where your children can be taken away from you, based on a whim of a bureaucrat.
        Where your child’s body can be mutilated and you will lose all your rights to the child if you oppose the mutilation.

        To paraphrase an old quote by Mark Steyn: “tyranny is characterized by arbitrary criminalization of dissent from state orthodoxy.” This is Canada today. A turd world tyranny.

  12. I’m sure this has been mentioned before, but even sports aren’t exempt from or immune to the “pride”-ness.

    I was in my apartment’s gym this morning and one of the TVs was on and set to some Canadian sports channel. I noticed one of the news segments had “Pride” in “pride” colours in the background.

    Just what I needed to start the day…..

        1. I used to have an investment account with CIBC Wood Gundy, ending up with that firm when the outfit I started with was merged, acquired, amalgamated, and renamed over several years.

          A few years ago, CIBCWG decided that client accounts should be worth at least 6 figures and dumped the rest, including mine. (That move persuaded my broker at the time to finally retire.) Based on my broker’s advice, I started an account with CIBC’s self-directed investment service, but it soon became apparent that the people had no idea of what it was doing. They were amateurs and had no idea about investing, plus they treated my account as if it was just another service from the bank, which isn’t quite the same thing.

          A few months later, my father died and I inherited his brokerage account. I moved my investments to that firm and closed my CIBC file.

          Mind you, I bought CIBC stock over 15 years ago and made a nice profit when I sold them later on.

    As long as Jagmeet Singh and the NDP support this corrupt, incompetent and inept Liberal Government they are free to stick it up Canadians behind with a 2X4 on any and every issue they choose.

    It is time to make sure that every NDP Member of Parliament, every NDP Party Member and every NDP Supporter gets the message that this deal with the Liberals will, in the end, devastate their party far more than the Liberal Party. They will pay a very high price for helping the Liberals remain in power.

    The average Canadian sees Trudeau, his Cabinet and his party members as the cause of most of Canada’s problems. The NDP will be repudiated and punished in the next election by your average Canadian.

    It is time to let them know the truth. They backed the wrong horse. So, the sooner they end the ride the better off they will be.

      1. ” protestors” — not protectors. Anyway, I am seeing this everywhere. Jazz Festival has closed Confederation Park, but as far as I can see, for no valid reason. People just make themselves seem paranoid– anti- democracy. It’s not a good look and it definitely takes away from the positive vibe that summer celebrations should have. The protests themselves are good — people out and about expressing their views. There is no need for the tight-a$$ Ottawa response.
