The most morally corrosive “procedure” since “murder” was outlawed among the disabled, since the National Socialist era of 1939.
Our leading idiots in Parliament and the Supreme geniuses on the court allowed and further enabled this utterly vile crap; because it is cheaper to execute people than it is to actually take care of them. I told them so when the Senate Committee was “studying” the matter; that this was simply the enactment of National Socialist policy disguised as loving concern for the dying. In reality, it is the state’s “love of money” to push off the boomers collecting pensions. Study the demographics and the “need” for this “killing the elderly” policy becomes abundantly clear.
So why exactly did Canada fight the Nazis; when a few decades hence they have now fully adopted their policy?

The reason they don’t learn from history is that they don’t teach it to the people in power who might be able to do something to ameliorate the stupidity and arrogance of simple evils.

I know of 2 people who recently chose not to suffer to the bitter end, one, a conservative, held a farewell party and had Dr in the next day, she was terminal. The other was also terminal and a liberal, and chose his own timing. Not all of us are bible thumping idiots who think one should suffer to the last breath.

1. When Paul Martin, ex PM cut $35 Billion in health transfers, my ailing mother couldn’t get an MRI if her life depended on it. Never mind treatment, we couldn’t get even get a diagnosis. But of course, they could lease out the MRI machines overnight so that cats and dogs could get their MRI diagnostics. (circa 1998) I still have the letter confirming this debacle by the then treating neurologist who had 16 years of training and simply could not do his job because there was no money in the system.
2. This was followed up by Rev Can suggesting I “off” my son; by withholding treatment; namely insulin because it is not life sustaining therapy about two years later. (circa 2000-2010) A 10 year odyssey through the court system and numerous submissions to the Parliamentary committee to verify that insulin is a “life sustaining therapy” in Canada; who produced none other than Dr. Banting and Best winners of the Nobel Prize in Medicine.

well Hans, my SIL couldn’t get a MRI, so she died. Coroner stated that is she had got a MRI up to 2 hrs prior to her death, she could have been saved. But neither that or your sad stories have anything to do with topic at hand.
Neighbour of mine back about 10 years could not get a MRI locally, so he had his doctor arrange with a clinic in Buffalo, and it took less than a week, and $2400. He then got access to atom knife, which extended his life by about 4 years. Great guy, and very Christian, a real Christian, and not a fake one like many in here, you know the ones who remain silent when there is Muslim bashing, Chinese hating, Gay bashing, or TWAT is making racist remarks. Yup most are phony as HELL kristians. My friend who passed away, and 2 living Christians, have never bashed gays, not once between them . In over 20 years I’v known them. They leave the judgement to their God, something you and many in here should learn!
My brother also died due to lack of capacity, as did my step son. Who I considered getting the assisted deal, but didn’t want tom upset the apple cart, as I knew that it would be to distressing for many in the family.

4. Well, this devilish feature of Socialism was brought in N America. Methods in practice were diversified and it makes sense, we are 21st century, simply chasing and shooting people is passe. So there was this Covid scare, and if by any chance people were not dying of the virus, they made sure with ‘vaccines’ and ‘boosters’ that people will die. Now they realized that it’s still not enough and “hey! assisted dying is not so bad at all”.
5. Most likely media will do their best: a nicely organized effort to prop up this crap will go for a few years until this practice will be considered ‘common-sense’ and ‘right thing to do’, just like is common-sense nowadays to link ‘white supremacists’ and ‘alt-right’ with Nazis (see pt 1).

My friend’s nephew, in his late twenties, whose round of treatments “didn’t take” as some might say – the doctor suggested MAID as one of the courses of action if he was up for it. Nice eh? I can’t even begin to tell you what that does to a young person’s psyche who knows he’s in trouble but is hanging on to any sliver of hope. I can tell you that my sister basically used MAID as a way to end her life and it was directly related to covid lockdowns. She lived in a long term care home with MS and was unable to see anyone including her husband for months during the lockdowns. It was torture. Physical and mental torture. She was adamant that she would never go through that again. My sister is one of the casualties of the Liberal’s evil approach to governing. If they won’t go along, force them. My sister was indirectly killed by our media ginning up fear and outrage for clicks and ad revenue.
I am sorry to say this but that is what they wanted for her and everyone.

It seems that the crimes committed by those receiving these lengthy sentences are also ”incompatible with the dignity of human life.” What was dignified about the terrible crimes committed by serial killers like Paul Bernardo . It is only the worst of the worst that receive sentences like this, the deliberate and repetitive killers. I cannot imagine what the families of the victims of these people are thinking when they hear this judgement. We will give the perpetrators a second chance but the victims? – no they don ‘t get a second chance. Sometimes the goal really is just punishment not rehab!
You know what fixes this? Freedom. Its that simple.
You may have to get over the gun crime rate in Toronto, though, and stop whining for the state to fix it.
My wife opted for MAID and chose her time to go. This allowed her to die at home surrounded by her large family, rather than alone in a hospice, because COVID. Also she kept her dignity and skipped the final few hours of agony. Not my choice, but I supported her decision. I think she did it for me. As an unvax, I wasn’t permitted to visit a hospital, or even attend a funeral (thank God for funeral directors who can look the other way). Mixed feelings all round, but my experience of this process was reluctance, care, and compassion.
There is no dignity in killing yourself off because the government wishes it.

it’s here in Australia now… They blithely call it ‘assisted dying’, but I term it ‘insisted dying’, because we KNOW that’ll be what it morphs into; by loved ones, medical people and the government, for all sorts of ‘good’ reasons!
But even that isn’t the end stage; the end stage is indeed like Logan’s Run; enforced by government, and you’re hunted down and terminated by Sandpersons (equality) if you refuse to go voluntarily…
