Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I support in general the protests. BUT. How do you protest lib/dip assholes when wrapped in the lib/dip rag of eastern Canada?
“I don’t like their hats, so they ain’t real protesters.”
Whenever I refer to “the flag of eastern oppression” in the presence of atlantic or central Canadians they look puzzled. When I explain I’ve never lived outside of Canada, and I’ve never lived anywhere that the maple tree has naturally planted itself, they continue to look puzzled.
Not a lot think that deeply about symbols anymore. And those who aren’t smart enough to recognize camouflage really don’t help. To get people to talk to you, make explicit without words what you have in common (like living under the flag of eastern oppression, whether they think of it that way or not). Once you’re talking, you can present your point of view.
Some nice views of the harbour at the end there.
