The Libranos: Show Me The Man, I’ll Show You the Deferred Prosecution

Great moments in Liberal corruption.

Quebec prosecutors have received court approval for a deferred prosecution agreement with Canadian engineering giant SNC-Lavalin Group Inc., the first such deal since the new legal mechanism became law in 2018.

Judge Éric Downs of the Quebec Superior Court sanctioned the agreement in a verbal decision on Wednesday afternoon, thereby settling criminal charges against the company related to a bridge contract in Montreal two decades ago. The judge said he would publish a detailed written decision later.

“We’ve reached a point now where this company has an integrity program that’s exemplary,” prosecutor Francis Pilotte said. “There really was no reason not to offer them an agreement. [The law] was made for cases like this.”

      1. Another Bruce Pardy tweet for the article link above

        Credit where credit is due

  1. So they bribed or “may have attempted to bribe” a gov’t official,
and the penalty for this is to have to pay an amount to a different gov’t official.

    #Libranos

  2. “An Integrity Program”? Only dishonest people need integrity programs. The best integrity program is obviously money to Liberals.

    1. Bingo! Expect a press conference from HM Loyal Opposition to that effect any minute now.

  3. “We’ve reached a point now where this company has an integrity program that’s exemplary”

We’ve seen that kind of new-found integrity before. It’s like a drug dealer walking into court on sentencing day with a Bible he picked up that morning.

  4. “[The law] was made for cases like this.”

Yep. Cases where the defendant is SNC Lavalin.
Why couldn’t they be honest for once and just call it the “Lavalin Gambit”?

    Spit!

  5. The SNC Lavalin matter was what persuaded me to stop practicing as a professional engineer.

    1. I have joked over the years that the reason I left conventional engineering for software engineering was the cavalier attitude of professional engineers towards ethics, despite it being a licensed profession – “the most unethical people I know have been professional engineers”.

I no longer consider it a joke. There’s something deeply wrong in the profession in, to the extent that I instinctively trust someone less if I know they’re a PEO.

      1. By comparison, several years ago, there was a major structural failure incident in a certain Canadian city.

The provincial professional engineering association began an investigation, but one of the its executives was either employed by or a partner in the firm that did the original work. He, quite honourably, resigned his position with the association, thereby removing any hint of a conflict of interest.

And, yes, I had my dealings with P. Eng.s who had an “ethics, schmethics” attitude. Then again, I’ve dealt with physicians and dentists who thought likewise, so it isn’t just engineers who’re like that.

  6. I’ve put in place an integrity program that will discourage me from ever murdering anyone again. So now, do I walk?

    1. Come on, these are professionals at work. They are not going to make a foolish mistake.

  7. Liberal/Quebec douche baggery is all I have ever heard about and all I have ever come to expect since I was a wee lad at expo 67. This narrative has not changed and never will. In fact this is what defines Canada. How Liberals enrich Quebecers by screwing over everyone else. Canada, like Camelot, is a silly place.

  8. Sounds like something every conservative should do with paying taxes. Skip a year or two and than setup a program to ensure payment going forward.

  9. And The Liberals only had to fire the first Metis Justice Minister to get to this.
They took a lot of heat for that, so there must have been quite an incentive to do so.

  10. Canada is done. Where there hell are the thinking people? I could write a thousand page tome on the stupidity that is the Canadian intellect and everyone who would read it would say I was wrong. Yet here we are with some of the dumbest people on the planet controlling the Canadian government. Is anyone out there prepared to say, I WILL NO LONGER COMPLY?

  11. Governments used to be brought down for cases like this.

HEY! Can SNC-Lavalin build that fence near Roxham Road?

  12. When the law isn’t the law the people realize that there is no law. Some people should be getting very afraid.

  13. So when a Quebek company heavily subsidized by a corrupt federal Government continually breaks the laws instead of charging them with their crimes the Government changes the laws so its not illegal anymore.

Hey, Quebek is a racist corrupt shithole, SNC is a third world type of company with all the accompanying corruption and the Turdhole Party fosters and nurtures a “culture of corruption”… This country is a joke.

When Peeair made french Quebekers the rulers of Canada the country was doomed to this type of third world gangster politics.

Only in Turdholeland… or some other french colonial shithole.

  14. It is in their DNA. They cannot help it. the word Quebec is a synonym for corruption. Do not vote for any politician who hails from Quebec.

  15. Its a big joke and we’re the punch line.
Behind closed doors they’re all laughing at us.

  16. Yea, make law that corruption is perfectly legal…in their case only.. Typical Liberal BS…what else is new??

    1. Look what it’s produced over time.

The latest corrupt retread dinosaur is Charest, Angry Jean, to remind us all how corrupt and unapologetic these cretins are. They have no shame.

I would actually like to thank Angry Jean for coming out from under his rock, to remind us all what a corrupt Kaybeckker looks and sounds like. It’s also a good reminder to us all,of how the Stupid Party would allow a dirtbag to run for its leadership.

      1. Charests only function is to create a situation that will neutralize pollievre, his supporters don t care if he wins the nomination or not. What they want is to insure that Pollievre is not the nominee. They know that Turdeau would not stand a chance in a debate against Pollievre where he couldn t walk out and refuse to answer a question.

      2. I believe it was after the Con debate Mr. Charest was asked to share his thoughts on what he believed to be the biggest threat facing Canada right now.

        His answer … ?

        “National Unity”.

A stunningly out of touch comment.

The Conservative party executive class must be purged of its Globalists and CINOS… and its ex Huwai employees and its Liberal Party moderators.

A festering hive of mendacity and sabotage.

  17. so this means that the previous deferred prosecution agreement covering their bribery of libyan officials will now proceed to criminal charges since they are in violation of that agreement right?

/of course not peasant, SNC lavelin is too important

  18. You do know these were Quebec provincial prosecutors in a Quebec provincial court.

  19. Another proud moment in Canada.
The Just Us System is working perfectly.
Even better when it becomes a criminal offence to discuss government corruption..
    A Liberal Heaven..

  20. The loyal presstitutes, cult members and walking brain dead see absolutely nothing wrong with this.

  21. Ha. Good old canadian values at work. Corrupt politicians, corrupt “experts”, corrupt media, corrupt justice system and on and on it goes and grows.

What an embarrassing place this has turned out to be. So sad. This country had so much potential, but we have destroyed it by not giving two screws worth of care when we step into the voting booth. Now we pay for our sins.
