Y2Kyoto: Zero! Zero!

There’s ZERO percent chance of reaching “Net Zero”.

[We] have a hundred-trillion-or-so dollar effort that under presidential directive must be fully up and running by 2035, with everybody’s light and heat and everything else dependent on success, and not only don’t we have any feasibility study or demonstration project, but we haven’t started the basic research yet, and the building where the basic research is to be conducted won’t be ready until 2025.

  1. But our Parasitic Overload, effete elites to a man, command that “It Shall Be So”.
All your purchasing decisions are theirs to control.
All your choices are theirs to make(because they know better than you).
    And they “Have the Science”
Specially manufactured to serve their policy.
How dare you lowly peons, property of the State, dare to mock and point out the obvious facts?
These Emperors are not just naked, they are also fat, ugly and stupid.
Delusions of adequacy really can block reality..
For a short while, until the pain begins.

    Bring on the pain.
    Vote Retribution.

    1. But … but … but … it’s THE SCIENCE! Why are you both a CAGW denier AND a SCIENCE denier?! SCIENCE! Says we can do it! SCIENCE! We HAVE the models! Really, we have them. Who are you to question the SCIENCE!

See how this “science” thing works? It’s not really about science … or math, or chemistry or physics … it’s about your lack of faith.

      1. As long as there is an oxygen breathing creature on planet earth, and volcanoes still erupt, there will never be any such thing as net zero on planet earth . We are carbon based organisms living on a carbon based planet in a carbon based universe. I do not need anyone to shove bull shit my way talking about quantities of anything else, as the anything else will kill us. By the way, where the hell are we with the whu who flu?

      2. The “science” that has a difficult time predicting the weather 48 hours from now and, using the same computer models, we are to believe that the same “science” can tell us what the weather was 300 plus years ago is quite the stretch.

Science tells me that the weather is going to weather, as it always has.

Just like viruses are going to virus.

These “scientists” have a pretty high opinion of themselves when they actually think that they know a better way than letting things be and enjoying the benefits that have been given to us.

  2. Oilfield Rando put it best: “We bail on this “net zero” bullsh** now or we’re in for a living hell. It’s that simple.”

  3. You can fool most of the people some of the time, and usually that’s good enough.

    1. Our new Minister of disinformation will see to that …

If GYM666 even posts ONE MORE comment about the CIA killing The Kennedy’s … our Minister will track him down … and … he will soon get to meet all the other dead dissidents in Heaven … 🙂

  4. The government doesn’t NEED to develop energy storage whatsoever at all … Why? Because WE will be “the storage” … WE will be made to put on two more blankets overnight, burn a candle if we want to read after dusk (if Abraham Lincoln could do it … so can we). Just charge up 2-3 external batteries for your iPhone, and you can Tweet all the Global Warming messages you want … in the dark.

  5. There is no research or no understanding of the path to take because that is not the intention. The intention is to save the planet and for that goal, 95% of the population must die (in their estimation) and the remainder must be enslaved with all of their personal choices rescinded in slavery, poverty and privation while the elite live like masters of the universe. If you understand that, then the lack of details make perfect sense because to reach that goal, the economy must fail with no hope of replacement. The goal is your demise, period.

  6. “net zero” is a political concept, not an engineering one

if the government believes that “net-zero” is achievable, then they can demonstrate it themselves first, starting by converting every new vehicle they buy to electric, and surplussing every other vehicle that isn’t leased. It should take no more than 3 years from today to do that.

they can also convert parliament to run off of electric heat, and eliminate every generator that runs on gas, diesel or natural gas/propane, replace them with ones that run on electricity, solar or wind.

lastly for air travel, they should purchase an appropriate number of solar powered airships, like the airlander 10.

  7. Since as a globe we will certainly increase our emissions, it’s a -20% chance. Some countries like Canada may self immolate and surrender to the darkness, but China, and India will make up for that in a month, and every month thereafter.

  8. Food, clothing, and shelter can not at present be produced net zero nor in the future because the mythically green energy systems don’t produce enough energy over their life cycles to significantly exceed the fossil fuels currently used to implement, maintain, make useable in a grid and decommission. If they can’t self-replicate, they can’t possibly contribute to the political constructed but technologically impossible “net zero”. The closest one could get would be to rely as much as possible on high density energy such as nuclear power.

Wind and solar are baby soothers for the Eloi.

    1. “Wind and solar are baby soothers for the Eloi.”
…and the Eloi are food for the Morlocks.

    2. Though Wells had it backwards, in that the Morlocks were descended from the working class, and the Eloi from the Bourgeois.

  9. If you can’t reach “net zero”, you’re not trying hard enough.

    1. Yes … you are not trying hard enough to live like the American colonists sweeping across Indian territory in the OX carts and Prairie schooners. Living off the land and slaughtered Bison.

  10. In related news Anthony Watts of Wattsupwiththat has a new book out “Climate at a glance for teachers and students”. Just got my copy today, lots of graphs and pictures like the one of the weather station in the parking lot at the university of Arizona and a page or two talking about urban heat island effect for example.

  11. Maple Leaf Foods claims it is “carbon neutral”. So, how does it produce bacon and smoked ham? The employees must avoid exhaling.
