  1. I’d like to believe that’s it for Old Man Librano Charest, but the CPC usually has a way of letting us down.

Being the LIBERAL Premier of Quebec should have been “IT”

    1. *
“Being the LIBERAL Premier of Quebec should have been ‘IT’”

Not too different from the Ford Reich. As Kate has said before…
‘Kathleen Wynne in a Fat Suit.’

      *

      1. ‘Kathleen Wynne in a Fat Suit.’

My brain initially parsed that as
‘Kathleen Wynne is a Fat Slut.’

    2. Unfortunately, I know people who supported the freedom convoy locally and while it was fun but didn’t stick with them to the end and now think they deserved the emergencies act. They probably agree with the Progressive Con Jobber.

  2. ““I’m the underdog in this race,” Charest said. “And you know what? I’ve been the underdog all my life. So I don’t mind being there, it’s a place I recognize.””

Piffle. The word “privilege” is not out of place in describing Charest’s life and his present highly-remunerative occupation of representing the interests of the CCP in this country.

It’s a big club. Glad I’m not in it. Like my soul just the way it is right now.

  3. Say hello to the Tool’s replacement, if the elites get their way… again.

  4. Sod off you liberal lunatic, didn’t he take Quebec over to the corrupt dark side during his rule as a Liberalllllllllllllllll? He’s the media’s choice because he does their simpering bidding just like Justine.

    1. He’s the media’s choice because there are so many corruption style scandals for the media to gleefully report on him. He’s way too easy a target for them, which means the Conservatives will somehow manage to elect him leader.

  5. Never underestimate the ability of Conservatives to seize defeat from the jaws of victory.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the Stupid Party.

Poilievre is the only candidate with even a tiny shred of credibility. Obviously the idiots will go for Charest. There’s no question.

    1. “Poilievre is the only candidate with even a tiny shred of credibility. ”

So is Lewis. But I think Poilievre carries more punch. If he does not win in the first round, expect Lewis to endorse him.

      1. Well I don’t know. I liked her in the first race and, as a beginner, she’s obviously got something. She is also a black woman which will make some strategist think she’s a winning strategy. But who’s backing her, it costs lots of money to run? Twice?

        1. Only a strong black woman can run a first world country like Canada. But we have to elect a strong First Nation woman first. But the strong Black men and strong First Nation men are going to call discrimination and sue the living shit out of Canada and I hope they win because identity politics is American style politics.

        2. As things stand right now I will be voting PP first LL second, the rest will be left blank. I don’t know who is backing her. She has shown integrity on a number of occasions, supported Freedom Convoy, interviewed repeatedly with independent media. I like her, she was my second choice after Sloan last election. Will be my second choice now.

P.S. I understand what you are saying, that her skin color is a bonus (as someone has pointed out, here I think, she can discuss with Potato what living with black face is like in Canada), but I refuse that to affect my ranking.

          1. We have no choice but to support PP. I like Lewis, and in any reasonable context would be a great choice as it certainly makes it harder for the liberals to play the race card. However much I like her policy positions I don’t get the sense she can handle the press and they will never let up on her ability to speak French. Our only hope is PP can set the tone needed to stop this mess.I am not happy with the Pcp as they have been the worst opposition ever. I didn’t vote for them the last 2 times but as of now would vote for PP as realistically that is the only chance to stop Justine. Of course that is based on if we actually get to vote again, because right now it appears the stage is set for our actor to go full dictatorship.

      2. I hope she will. I went to Pierre rally in East Van last night and it was stowed out!!

      3. lve been watching queens park and parliament hill for over 50 years.
l say this carefully and cautiously, trying and trying to remove ANY ‘wishful thinking’, but here it is:
Poilievre just might be the man to pull this nation out of the fire.
oh good lord l hope he takes the ring. then l WILL for THE VERY FIRST TIME in 50 years,
PLUNGE myself into the campaign of WHOEVER in my riding has the Conservative nod. l will NOT put myself in
the ‘oopsie, too late’ position of seeing a slim 2nd place happen and the gnashing of teeth for lack of a wee bit more work.
l WILL spend money, time, thought, and whatever is asked to DO MY PART.

and that ‘thing’ about the LIEberals and new democraps in cahoots? pffft. just more opportunities for
the TURDeau to add to his mounting list of cockups.

    2. Phantom – that tired moniker simply aids the left. the Stupid party must have stupid policies.
      The are the infiltrated party.

    3. An insane Liberal friend of mine (Her husband was a Liberal Bag man/MP in the 90s) told me that Poilevre is the most corrupt person she’s ever met.
I replied that her absolute disgust of him is the very reason I’d vote for him.
She did not think I was very funny, which was great because I was being serious.

  6. I hope Charest wins! The CPC, in its current version, deserves him. It will also help Maverick.

    Harder, faster.

      1. PPC, zero seats two elections in a row.
Net change in seats since formation = -1

No they don’t count, it is a cult, nothing more.

Also Maxipad is French, so that in and of itself is a NO.

        1. Its the cult of personality which is the biggest irony because he’s a K-becer (not because he’s French).
The platform/ideals of a party should guide the voter, not the leader.

        2. We butted heads before about who to vote for. I wanted to vote CPC, but I just couldn’t stomach voting for the Tool. I still don’t regret my decision.
However, if PP does become leader, I think I could support him. I’ve been disappointed so many times by the cons, (fat ford, for example) that I’ve given up on them. So far, PP is giving me some hope that we can see some real change.
OTOH, when the Tool won his leadership bid, I was optimistic then as well, but we all know how that turned out.

If the cheese wins, then I’m afraid it’s back to the fringes for me.

Anyway, in this liberal-safe riding, my vote won’t amount to a hill of beans, so my vote can be safely ignored. Sorry to waste your time.

          1. All this talk about ‘election’….
Yes…CPC will chose a ‘leader’….but we have to wait until 2025 for a Federal election.
Wake me up when we get there.

        3. Yes, sure, liberal plant.

Why don’t you vote for McKay or David Orchard for that matter, LOL!

          1. Stupid comment. I refused to vote either for McKay or Tool in the least leadership race. I voted Sloan first, Lewis second and left the remaining places blank. In the previous leadership vote I supported Maxipad (would not do it again). Not bad for a liberal plant.

Maxipad and his cultists, still do not count, PP is your biggest nightmare, that is why you’re hoping for Charest. You do not want conservatives to win, you want to remain the purest among losers. Which is coincidently why twice in a row you have done exactly what Potato wanted you to do.

P.S. PPC is still a cult.

    1. Agree completely, DB.

It is baffling how anyone thinking clearly could still plan on supporting the CPC. Their ‘leaders’ are as entrenched as any dipper or lib in the entitled establishment class. F*ck the CPC. They are gone, outa here, history, they left the conservative building loooong ago. How can you claim to be a Conservative party when your few ‘real conservative’ MP’s are the exception?

Jean Charest? Shit, I hear Jean Chretien is available, too, so why not him?

    2. I would be a little bit surprised if Charest won. But I dont doubt it is possible.

      1. It’s entirely possible. PP will have to win on the first ballot, otherwise he could be facing a problem. Remember that McKay was also a front-runner, but couldn’t make it past the first ballot, and everyone knew at the time after the first ballot results were announced, that he was finished. Even McKay knew. I can still remember seeing his reaction when they announced those results.
The same thing can happen to PP. So far, he’s doing well. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought I saw a poll putting PP at +60%, while the Cheese was hovering around 12%

        1. Remember what Joe Biden’s poll numbers were. Charest is much higher than that.

        2. The difference between now and then is that McKay could not count on anyone from Lewis or Sloan camps to support him. Now If Lewis falls out, her supporters will turn to Poilievre not to Charest or Brown. While Brown supporters will probably break for Charest vs Poilievre in 3:1 or 2:1 ratio. The other candidates do not have enough support to count. So Poilievre looks good.

      2. Depends on who is behind the curtain at the levers of power. Look how the Democrats low bridged Sanders in order to get, first Clinton then Biden. You think the CPC is beyond or above that? I’m done with those clowns anyway. I’ll waste a vote before being fooled again.

  7. Who broke the law? The laws were made up as the situation moved along, not a great deal of debate as I recall.

    1. “Laws are not a buffet table, if you’re a legislator, from which you choose what you want. Because what you’re really saying to people is I’m above the law,”

So if the law says you can’t leave your house or work he’s alright with that.
I’m guessing that taxation without representation is ok in his mind.
As we have no legislated property rights he’s fine with that as well.
      I doubt he’s big on self-defence either.

  8. I hope he stays in the race and keeps putting out the contrast in the race. Never gonna get my vote though.

  9. Liberal Plant.

Too obvious, except for the RED TORY faction that is still alive and well (Michael Chong, Peter McKay, etc)

    Stupid Party!

    1. Whoever wins, they have a buffet of ammo to shred Justin and crew. They have to USE it though. High road and nice folks be damned.

The Cons have to ask the latte crew, do you want honest Gov? Do you want to be paupers and indentured vessels? Freedom and personal choice?

Nuff said, old guard etc has to be flushed, connect, attack, and go postal on the mutts.

Otherwise, we will be Cuba/Venezuela, etc.your pic, but true.

Fingers crossed, but no bets on it. This is Justin/Jagmeet New Canada.

  10. The Left’s religion is Green and Woke and their High Priests are their Media and Celebrities.
They have been successful in converting 50%+ of the population to their cause and convincing their flock that the Right are Knuckle Draggers at best, and Despots and Dictators at worst (ie, all of their Leaders).

Any attempt to question the doctrine will result in your being cancelled, Logic does not apply here.

I see no way for the Right to Win because of the Hive Mind of their Opposition and the fact that the Right is a coalition of different beliefs that are pretty much at war with each other and there is no consensus candidate that will be accepted by the different factions.

Voters will only turn to the Right when the Shit hits the fan and that is not because they actually want to vote Conservative, it will be only to boot out the Liberals, and only to clean the Shit up so that they can go back to voting Left.

Policy and Ethics vacated the premises in 2015 and in the New World, Optics and Identity are the only things that matter. You are not going to beat them with Policy or a Vision that isn’t Woke/Green.

Trudeau trots his talking point out every day and the bought and paid for Media will never question the fact that he doesn’t have two functioning Brain Cells under that nice haircut and let him get away with anything he wants.

Nominating an Old White Guy yet again will only serve to perpetuate the Cycle and I can guarantee you it will happen because the Right are locked in to their viewpoint as strongly as the Left is to theirs.

Enjoy the Decline folks! Make sure your family is looked after and that you raise your children with a good work ethic and the ability to think critically and the ability to look after themselves…

    1. Why? Pierre can choose to be irrelevant all on his own, if he wants to, there is not need to ask Maxipad for it.

      1. COLON

Here’s a great example of what is wrong with an asshole like you, you can’t admit you screwed up. Max jumped ship because he would have been Sloaned if he didn’t. And you simply can’t accept that fact, because you are effin stupid low IQ A-hole. Now try growing up, and quit acting like a butthurt school girl!

        1. Thank You! ———-> upvote times 1 million.

          Gosh, bring back Doug.

        2. No, Maxipad had a tantrum and has been helping Potato ever since. Out of sheer spite. He is largely inept in his efforts though. He is irrelevant. His followers are devoted cultists blindly following dear leader. Also he is from Kebek. Those are facts.

Another fact is that you’re one of the four regulars who is the least qualified to judge others. You have been a failure at everything in your life and you never will amount to anything.

        3. After he started calling his opponents, and those who supported anyone but O’Toole, names, I just scroll past his comments. I’m not sure who he’s trying to convince about the feckless and cowardly CPC, us or himself.

          1. You realize that in this thread I haven’t insulted anyone until I was insulted first? That you’re actually replying to the one who started with the insults? Of course you do. That makes you a hypocrite. Common among those who share your world view.

But that is the best you can do. You have limitations. You never have a point of your own. You’re only capable of drive by disapproval or declarations of solidarity. Do you feel validated when someone notices your support?

  11. Charest could win. Each riding gets equal weight. Winning Montreal/Toronto/Ottawa/Vancouver/Winnipeg ridings plus some other Lib/NDP strongholds could be enough to give him the win. CPC gives same weight to a 0% chance of being won riding as it gives to a sure-thing riding. Stupid system gives stupid results.

      1. And then you get to choose between Charest or Trudeau-Singh also known as no real choice. So I’ll vote PPC for the 3rd time if that comes to pass.
If Charest wins, the CPC is done. Heck he might get the old gang back to run with him: Clark, Campbell, McKay!

  12. Charest hates average Canadians but loves the power-mad people behind the World Economic Forum. That’s why he’ll likely be the next Canadian CINO leader. It’s pathetic.

  13. Poilievre or Leslyn Lewis. Having a black woman as leader would undermine the Lib’s constant attacks that the Cons are bigots and woman haters. The equity, non inclusiveness argument attached to the Cons by the Libs would be out of the window. But I am confident that the Cons will elect a loser like Charest or Brown.

    1. She could be the black face of white supremacy. We’ve never seen that before – wait a minute – or have we?

  14. Hoping Pierre passes the Rebel News test, namely he will have no trouble granting them an interview and talking to their journalists on an ongoing basis. Scheer and O’Toole threw Ezra and his crew under the bus the second after they obtained the Leader mantle. You can rest assured Brown and Charest will never speak with alternative media at any point. Cowards of the highest order.

    1. Both PP and LL had extensive interviews with True North recently. LL recorded an interview with Rebel during the Freedom Convoy protest.

  15. Doesn’t much matter who leads the Stupid Party. They all hid in their burrows for the better part of 2 years while their Country slid into ruin and our rights were pissed on. A few of them stuck their heads out on groundhog day and started chirping a bit, but they’ll scurry back in as soon as the urban press confronts them.

  16. CPC will do the same as they did last 2 leadership races…a strong social conservative vs a Laurentian Red Tory. Then they will sit in a back room and choose a weak compromise candidate as leader, who the CBC can rip apart. Can the CPC be idiots 3 leadership races in a row?

  17. Huawei Jean, China-fluffer and Quebec political mafiosa extraordinaire: just crawl back into your slimy Gallic lizard-hole already.

  18. Charest is ancient. I think he should drop out just for that. Having said that, I have let my membership lapse since the Andrew Scheer debacle and seriously considering not to re-up. Conservatives need a younger person to lead them tho’ I’m not sure Poilievre is the one. I wish people would just pronounce his name correctly. Really, is it THAT hard?

    1. “Charest is ancient. I think he should drop out just for that. ”

Good thing you didn’t have the final say about Churchill taking over the reins in 1939.

      1. Good thing you didn’t have the final say about Churchill taking over the reins in 1939

Get real. Charest is no Churchill.

Churchill warned his country and the world about the threat of hitler and the nazis. Charest warns canadians about the freedom convoy protesters. He’s closer to Chamberlain than Churchill.

        mhb23re

        1. “Charest is no Churchill.”

Well, that’s what I call a flair for the obvious.

  19. Only put one name on your ballot, Pierre Poilievre. Leslyn will get a great shadow cabinet post. She will shine later, but needs seasoning/experience. Charest is the biggest looser re-cycle ever, thank him for showing his liberal stripes early. I hate him already again. Definitely not conservative at all. Worse than Mackay. Go truckers!

    1. I agree Ward, however I know they really mean the Blue Tied Wing of Our Glorious Uni-Party..Just saying “Stupid Party” for short.
A pox on all their houses.
Not one of our “Right Honourable Members of Parliament” has a clue of the Rights and Freedoms they are oath sworn to uphold.
      Traitors one and all.
Hang them, appoint a new bunch using the Jurors List.

  20. Charest – part of the reason we are where we are today.

Pierre just went up a notch.

  21. Underdog Charest? He is a Prince of privilege — since being hand picked and groomed for a life of fraud and entitlement by the singularly corrupt Brian Mulroney. And he has the backing of the well-heeled elite of the CPC that always looked down their noses at the conservative base that supported the party, wishing they could replace them with the urban liberals they prefer. I would have thought Charest’s record as a singularly corrupt Quebec Premier (and that’s saying a lot) and his whoring for Huawei have ended his running-of-the-has-beens by now. Apparently not.

    1. Those elites have only one issue with the liberals.
It’s that they aren’t the ones doing what they are doing.

  22. Voting in favor of investigating GoFundMe is a funny way of supporting the convoy.

  23. [Apologies to Dire Straits]
    Les boys come on again
    For the high class whores
    And the businessmen
Who drive in their Mercedes Benz
To a disco bar in old München
Late at night when they’ve gone away
Les boys dream of Jean Charest
High heel shoes and a black beret
And the posters on the wall that say
    Les boys do cabaret
Les boys are glad to be gay

  24. “Laws are not a buffet table”

Sez the guy who treats political parties like a buffet table.

  25. “Laws are not a buffet..”
    Damn right.
Anne Frank, her family and everyone who protected them, were odious criminals, breaking the law.
Funny how progressive scum like this peckerhead, just love them some law and order..except when it applies to them..Right Jean?

  26. This merely confirms what conservatives already knew.
He is the epitome of what is a progressive conservative.
These are the individuals that enter conservative nomination contests when the liberal nomination isn’t open, then if they get the nomination do everything they can to campaign to people that won’t vote conservative even if it means walking back every campaign plank in the conservative platform.
His campaign will end when he gets asked.
“Please tell us what exactly you intend to do differently from what the liberals are doing?”

  27. Ms. Lewis could actually bring Mad Max and we his supporters back into the party; and blunt the (false) accusations previously leveled against the PPC. A million votes is nothing to be ignored…

    1. BC Hunter – I believe you are correct. I also believe PP has the potential to do the same. The BS about how bad Max is and the Maverick is needs to stop. These people and their supporters did not leave the PCP – the party left them. The only reason they weren’t wiped out in the last 2 elections was pragmatism – they couldn’t win against the most corrupt and incompetent government in Canadian history with people voting for them desperate to rid us of the Liberals. We ended up with an opposition with an inability to hold the government to account because they primarily mirrored their policies. In retrospect a wipeout under Andrew would have allowed a rebuild. As it is now we are left with a government hell bent to subvert opposition by controlling media , controlling your finances and subverting opposition by any means they can legislate and manipulate. It really was the most important election ever and the CPC shit the bed. Right now we need a leader who can at least question the liberal / ndp coalition policies without always being on the defense ( although much as the past 7 years I don’t expect answers – but maybe a few more voters will notice) . I am under no illusions the PP and CPC is the answer to totally fix the mess we are in – but if you want to get out of a hole you have to stop digging. If you think giving people money is effective in procuring votes just wait to see how they fall into line when the government controls how much you can keep and where you spend it.

  28. Talk about not being able to read a room. He’s not even going to get out of the chute.

  29. The Trucker cause was and remains a good one, with many Conservative supporters. It was a hopeful moment. Charet has been out of the Party too long. He picked the wrong hill to die on

  30. I have unfortunately lived through mostly Liberal PM’s all my life. This new iteration of a Conservative hopeful Mr. Charest is just another hopeful from Quebec who wants to continue the destruction of this once great country. We have had a succession of Leaders from Quebec and I personally feel that they have NOT had the best interests of the country in their agenda. Charest is just another example of a politician who will do and say anything to get elected. He claimed a long time ago to be a Conservative, he lost the leadership race , then he became a Liberal in Quebec and won and now he claims to be a Conservative again. If he looses this time will he next claim to be a staunch NDP’R. Obviously Mr. Charest is totally lacking in morals, ethics ,integrity and honesty and will do anything to get elected. He, I assume; is a truly corrupt liberal by these actions. I am sure that the Conservative executive will once again give us a leader who will manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

  31. Mhb at 12:07

“The original comparison was yours, not mine.”

There was no “comparison” of Churchill and Charest at all in my comment. It concerned age: Charest is 63; Churchill was 65 at the outbreak of WWII.

  32. I am not getting sucked in again by any of these liars and parasites. It’s the fool me once thing. All I would wish for is a true conservative, who will truly be conservative! I have reached the point that they need to show me they have a backbone, before I will support them. If I had to choose now, it would be Poilievre, although I need confirmation he did NOT go through the WEF young leaders program first. Yes, Lewis does need “seasoning”, but I would also support her for the leader position as well. I don’t care if it’s a Black or White, or Chinese, or Quebecer or anyone from another province. All I want is a real conservative, so I could also support Max as well. As I said above, I’ve been fooled enough, I won’t rejoin the Con party until they have a new leader and that leader proves they are really conservative by deeds not by pretty words. I liked Harper, but he was a slow policy wonk, and didn’t kick out the CBC when he had the chance, and they were waaaay to slow on the firearms issues which are a big item for me. So NO, it’s zero support or funds from me until I know for sure we have as true conservative leader and true conservative party again. Until I see real concrete results, I’ll bide my time and just paddle my own little ship as best I can. I think “jaded” is what describes me best at this stage in life.
