1. You really have no clue what is actually going on as our mainstream media and politicians don’t want you to.
   As one politician pointed out when he was leaving office, ‘if our citizens actually knew what we did, we’d be strung up at the nearest lamp posts’.
   The Russian Bear is PISSED as thousands of dead Russians were slaughtered in the Donbass region of Ukraine. Thanks the Biden Administration to wanting NATO to join in WW3 with the US.
   I expect retaliation not by missiles but by Russia shutting off it’s oil to the failing Western Nations and really creating Chaos as fuel supplies dry up and prices increase exponentially.
   I truly feel sorry for the game of pawn our politicians put us as and the innocent lives lost just so our corrupted politicians can stay in office abusing it’s citizens.
   It seems our politicians want to collapse the economy as well with their actions of keeping fossil fuel productivity hampered and suppressed.
   The ‘Great Reset’ doesn’t look like it’s going to be fun at all.

      No, no, no. I don’t know where you got the thousands from, but that is besides the point, the live ones were slaughtered, not the dead ones, once it is dead there is no point in slaughtering it. Also slaughtering traitors is not a bad thing.

3. This Ukraine War is going to be interesting to see as Putin isn’t interested in damaging the infrastructure while the Ukraine government probably will do that itself as it tries to stop the military advancement.

      1. All E European countries have this concept of ‘total war’. EVERYONE should fight for their country.
      2. All civil/logistic ‘assets’ better be destroyed rather then leave them in the hands of the enemy. Destroying infrastructure slows down tanks/heavy stuff and the aggressor needs heavy machinery to support logistically the ground troops.
      3. Air dominance does not guarantee a win. Yes, it helps a lot but you still need troops on the ground to force your government + keep that government in place.
      4. Because of pt.1, Putin will have hard time maintaining Ukraine. It will be an accretion war with continuous guerilla and heavy losses. Support in Mother Russia for Putin will diminish until someone in his inner circle will organize a violent/abrupt end for him. The sooner the better.

   2. Facepalm. There is no life after russia. Ukrainians understand it, they know what russia has done to them in the past and they know what russia will do again. That is why they fight. they are fighting for freedom, they are fighting for survival, they don’t care if they have a bridge once the dust settles.

         World’s heaviest helicopter Mi-26 can lift about twenty tons in a standard configuration slightly more in emergency, That is less than a half of an empty tank. Also it is a very specialized, very expensive machine that you probably don’t want to use as an assault transport. Because it takes only one stinger to have one dead giant chopper, one dead tank and two specialized crews made good.

5. Two things linked here are the resistance Ukrainians are putting up and Conrad Black’s advice to the truckers to surrender. The Ukes are fighting to the bitter end, inflicting big losses on the Russians and making Putin look rather foolish. Black advised the truckers to give up without gaining anything. The truckers stayed until Blackface was forced to blunder into overplaying his hand resulting in an embarrassing clime down which is still reverberating through the country and beyond. Putting up a spirited fight gets you respect and may even change the outcome of the battle. We need to fight.

    I’m starting to skip your posts. I did the same with David’s a while ago, David’s posts basically say “come and look over here to see what I have to say” with a teaser for the story and a reconnect to his site, and I’ve found that much of what is contained therein I’ve either seen elsewhere or isn’t worth the time to go 3 or 4 connections deep to see what is actually being talked about. That type of coverage isn’t why I’m here. It works for many, don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t work for me.

    Your posts appear to me to contain a lot of disconnected stories about whatever you find interesting. Part of Kate’s brilliance and masterful presentation is the pithiness of the header and a single topic for discussion below. Sometimes there’s 2 or 3 links, but they are all connected in how she looks at the issue. Yes, we wander all over the place in the discussion, but it all starts from the link and her take on it. If you want to be a news aggregation blog then you’re doing a good job. There are lots of news aggregation blogs, and I don’t come here for that.

    In my opinion, you could just say “the world exists and is changing” and leave the discussion below that to be a free for all and it wouldn’t be very different than the last couple of your posts. I doubt this is what is intended, but that’s how I see it. I’m sure many others will disagree. Maybe more posts with less topics on each, and the posts following a theme? Or, ignore me and continue and I’m sure there will be no negatives for you.

    Kate trusts you, and I’m sure the two of you have discussed what is appropriate for posting and how. It’s her house, and I’m a visitor. And you have no idea whether I actually pay to support the site, which is an extra “feel free to ignore” flag.

       1. So why doesn’t OJ start a news aggregation site and say “here’s what I think is interesting today” and post a single link like David does? There are lots of aggregation sites. This, historically, has not been one of them.

          Your mileage has varied, but that’s not why I come here. I like the discussion free-for-all once a topic has been defined. My choices aren’t binding on anyone else, but I don’t know that OJ has received feedback like this. If I’m going to discount what OJ has to say, then I’m going to tell them why (like I have with the child-like understanding of UnMe, or the lack-of-comprehension Allan S). I typically have a half-hour or so per day to catch up on what is happening (and sometimes opine). I can’t do a deep-dive on everything that interests me, so welcome someone of similar outlook providing a short-form upon which to base discussion.

11. Did no one notice the bombshell from Vlad’s speech a week or so ago? He says he asked Bill Clinton what the US would think about Russia joining NATO back in 2000. Apparently, Clinton wasn’t warm to the idea.

    Doesn’t that expose what’s really going on in Washington? As Ike warned, the MIC took over foreign relations. He didn’t see Big Pharma taking over health care, and Big Tech taking over public discourse, but no one’s perfect. The boys in Washington and Brussels are there to ensure that billions of dollars are funnelled into weapons that feed no one, clothe no one, and house no one, and ultimately, protect no one. That’s all they are there for. Everything else is window-dressing and distractions designed to divert us.

12. Sort of between a rock and a hard place if you dislike globalism and Putin in his present form.

    On balance, I would rather see Putin defeated and forced out of office, but realistically, if he does vacate (probably through death) then who takes over? What will Russia become? Something slightly better, or even worse?

    And a victory over Putin in Kiev will just leave us with puffed up globalists ready to push their own crazy agenda further up the hill.

    The only way sanity can prevail in the world is some third way, we had a chance at that but it went nowhere really, other than some feel good speeches and a bit of a demo for a largely brain-dead audience.

    Some have acted as if we live in a tyranny equal to that of Hitler or Stalin or Mao — this of course is ridiculous and a complete misunderstanding of history. We would not be sitting around on the internet talking about it, if that were the case. But that doesn’t excuse the likes of minor Napoleon JT, or brain-dead Biden, for their considerable flaws and wrongdoings. On a scale of one to ten, they are around a three, but the French aristocrats of 1789 were not all that bad either and look what happened to them.

    There is no infallible law of natural justice. Some tyrants never meet up with punishment in this life. Others have their demerits magnified, which lingers on into history whether true or false. Franco, for example, ran a pretty mean show, but he was a pale imitation of Mussolini or even Pinochet. And who’s to say Chile would ever have escaped communism, had it not been for the likes of Pinochet?

    Fidel Castro escaped in this life too, so apparently will his weak-sauce younger brother. You thought maybe I was going somewhere else with that? Maybe.
