Canada’s Evil Gnome

Matt Taibbi: When boring people turn dangerous;

[Chrystia] Freeland arouses strong feelings among old Russia hands. Before the Yeltsin era collapsed, she had consistent, remarkable access to gangster-oligarchs like Boris Berezovsky, who appeared in her Financial Times articles described as aw-shucks humans just doing their best to make sure “big capital” maintained its “necessary role” in Russia’s political life. “Berezovsky was one of several financiers who came together in a last-ditch attempt to keep the Communists out of the Kremlin” was typical Freeland fare in, say, 1998.

Then the Yeltsin era collapsed in corrupt ignominy and Freeland immediately wrote a book called Sale of the Century that identified Yeltsin’s embrace of her former top sources as the “original sin” of Russian capitalism, a “Faustian bargain” that crippled Russia’s chance at true progress. This is Freeland on Yeltsin’s successor in 2000. Note the “Yes, Putin has a reputation for beating the press, but his economic rep is solid!” passage at the end:

It looks as if we’re about to fall in love with Russia all over again…

Compared to the ailing, drink-addled figure Boris Yeltsin cut in his later
years, his successor, Vladimir Putin, in the eyes of many western observers,
seems refreshingly direct, decisive and energetic… Tony Blair, who has already paid
Putin the compliment of a visit to Russia and received the newly installed
president in Downing Street in return, has praised him as a strong leader
with a reformist vision. Bill Clinton, who recently hot-footed it to Russia,
offered the equally sunny appraisal that “when we look at Russia today . . .
we see an economy that is growing . . . we see a Russia that has just
completed a democratic transfer of power for the first time in a thousand
years.”

To be sure, some critics have lamented Putin’s support for the bloody second
war in Chechnya, accused him of eroding freedom of the press… and
worried aloud that his KGB background and unrepenting loyalty to the honor
of that institution could jeopardize Russia’s fragile democratic
institutions. But many of even Putin’s fiercest prosecutors seem inclined to
give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the economy…

Years later, she is somehow Canada’s Finance Minister, and what another friend from our Russia days laughingly describes as “the Nurse Ratched of the New World Order.” At the end of last week, Minister Freeland explained that in expanding its Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) program, her government was “directing Canadian financial institutions to review their relationships with anyone involved in the illegal blockades.”

The Emergencies Act contains language beyond the inventive powers of the best sci-fi writers. It defines a “designated person” — a person eligible for cutoff of financial services — as someone “directly or indirectly” participating in a “public assembly that may reasonably be expected to lead to a breach of the peace.” Directly or indirectly?

She went on to describe the invocation of Canada’s Emergencies Act in the dripping-fake tones of someone trying to put a smile on an insurance claim rejection, with even phrases packed with bad news steered upward in the form of cheery hypotheticals. As in, The names of both individuals and entities as well as crypto wallets? Have been shared? By the RCMP with financial institutions? And accounts have been frozen? As she confirmed this monstrous news about freezing bank accounts, Freeland burst into nervous laughter, looking like Tony Perkins sharing a cheery memory with “mother”.

  1. As someone who previously contributed to the UCP and the Conservative Party will I fall into this category of
as someone “directly or indirectly” participating in a “public assembly that may reasonably be expected to lead to a breach of the peace.” What about all the members of Parliament? Isn’t that a public assembly?

    Monstrous

    1. They’ve totally made a mockery of this Governance and Parliamentary System.
So, he made himself Dictator and Respect to that entitled system.
So, all I can do is show my respect to HEIL GRAND WIZARD VIZIER TRUDEAU!
Your new title of office. Respect is earned and not just given or inherited by office.

      1. “ They’ve totally made a mockery of this Governance and Parliamentary System.”

        Surely you jest.

The system was set up to protect the government, so it’s doing exactly what it was meant to do.
        You know, not a flaw.

        1. Your right.
It’s the judiciary system that allowed corruption flourish and run rampant for years.
And now being used as an illegitimate enforcers to our new Dictator.
Thanks ya bunch of dumb asses.

          1. Jojo, have I mentioned the lack of intellectual acuity of the average Canadian? Stupid people become very stupid slaves. I hate the level of stupid that has taken Canada to this disgraceful position we are in. Anyone wants to kill me, go for it. Everyone in government is so evil, I have no way to even state a redeeming value

        2. People forget that absolutely nothing about the Magna Carta or the Westminster parliamentary system was about the rights of the common man. It was about the lords and barons wresting power from the King for themselves. Period.

    2. For those of us that may worry about this new Tyranny trying to doxx us here is some advice from an IT guy named Snowdog over at Vlad Tepes Web blog.
      I would suggest implementation ASAP.

” Some comments are now in under this post. Please read them all. I am certain more will come with valuable info. But I wanted to add this one from Snowdog right away to the post:

      Comment:
Some brief background: I’m an IT systems engineer.

I’ve had a look through the GSG donor dump, and it is disturbing to say the least. I also located a Python-based “scraper” specifically designed to harvest data from the GSG platform. Inside that script was a URL and instructions on how to retrieve data – I tested it briefly. You should know, that GSG data retrieval is still ACTIVE – although the scraper I examined “only” pulls names, donation amounts, comments, and other misc. info. No email addresses or IP addresses are obtainable using that method. This is definitely NOT the case with the “big” GSG dump, which has it all.

So I’ve come up with a few thoughts on trying to “anonymize” donations. The tips presented by Eeyore are a good start. I might add the following suggestions:

      1. Use a VPN when connecting to give your donation. It takes some research to find a good one, but among other things, concentrate on *where* the VPN provider is located and under what laws govern it’s operations. Stay OUT of the 5-eyes countries, or dealing with any provider that adopts the governing laws of those countries!!

      2. Get an “anonymous” email provider. You need to use this address sparingly, and only for things for which you need to protect your identity. Some providers are located in countries with very strict privacy laws. Some will allow you to pay in crypto. Many do not keep records and even subject themselves to independent audits. When setting up or accessing your account, connect using the VPN if possible, or even Tor (some providers work over Tor for webmail, some do not). DO NOT USE any account name that can be easily connected back to you. Make it is unique, obscure, and nothing you’ve ever used before or will ever use again!

      3. Consider prepaid cards (debit, credit?). Don’t know the options in Canada, but in the States these are common and do not usually require a name attached to them. Pay cash to “charge” the card. When registering the card online, use the VPN.

      4. NEVER USE YOUR NAME WHEN MAKING A DONATION. This is one of the reasons for the prepaid cards vs. a conventional CC. With a conventional CC, you have to give your REAL NAME for validation. In the GSG hack, CC numbers were not (apparently) harvested, but the names were (even if the person chose to be “anonymous”). With the GSG hack, selecting “anonymous” appears only to have impacted whether your name appeared in the website public “donor” list. The hackers still got people’s real names.

      5. Avoid providing superfluous data, such as comments. One “analyst” who had access to a restricted set of the GSG data (no IPs or email addresses), analyzed comments to ascertain the potential origins and general identities of donors. E.g. “When I served in Iraq, we fought for freedom, not these draconian mandates…” (you get the idea), or “We support you here in Texas!!”.

      6. This should be obvious but it bears repeating: NEVER USE A COMPANY EMAIL ADDRESS!! A bunch of GSG donors did this, and are now looking for new jobs.

      7. Keep your gob SHUT! No need to tell anyone you contributed.

      Caveats:

      1. Even if you follow these suggestions I cannot guarantee you anonymity. Don’t trust me at all – don’t trust anyone – do your own research! Your mileage may vary.

      2. If an alphabet agency really, really, really wants to hunt you down, they probably can succeed. The goal is to make it hard and not worth-their-while to expend those kinds of resources over a $50 donation. However, you can certainly prevent the “hacktivists” and their “journalist” allies from easily doxxing you. It can also provide plausible deniability if you do it right.

      3. I fully agree with Eeyore. This is NOT about circumventing laws to commit criminal acts! This is about protecting yourself when engaged in legal activities that the establishment now deems to be “fair game” in their war against freedom.

      Final Thoughts:

I have no idea WHY GSG is STILL allowing public information on donors to be scraped. Donations are STILL rolling in, and names are accessible. The primary NGO involved (Distributed Denial of Secrets) is serving as the “clearing house” for hacked data. They are a very nasty bunch, and they target only conservative outlets. They claim there is an even bigger dump coming, and that the GSG site is still vulnerable and they are still harvesting PII. GSG IS NOT SAFE!! DDOSecrets also provides the products of ransomware dumps – dubiously claiming it’s in “the public domain” because the thieves dumped their booty onto the dark web. They are obviously a protected racket, or they would have been busted years ago. They are likely affiliated with government intelligence agencies.

      BE CAREFUL OUT THERE! “.

      1. Everything just went way beyond what anything this old man can or will do. The government wants to kill me, hell, come on down.

      2. Big emphasis on #7 right now… You will be contacted at the scraped email addy by journos, people purporting to set up mutual support groups for doxxed donors, asked to sign petitions, etc. Don’t do it, because all you’ll be doing is confirming the data scraped by the hacking fucks is accurate.

Also, keep a prepaid burner cell phone handy. Not expensive.

At this point, the email addy that was doxxed in my case is gone. Emails will bounce with the notation that the addy doesn’t exist. Every single account that used it has been changed. It won’t matter to the security services, but it just makes confirming that I’m one of the nasty, evil, convoy donors that much more annoying. Took a few hours of work to track down every place I used it over the last ten years or so. Even had to call a few service providers to get them to change it, but done. Now, I can use the plausible deniability excuse if assholes try me on – not me, folks. Someone misused my name and an old email addy that no longer works.

  2. This piece from Taibbi landed in my Inbox this morning, and gave me my first genuine laugh for awhile, when he described Chrystia Freeland as “Nurse Ratched of the New World Order.”

  3. Mark Steyn about madame deputy pm:

“Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s ever more sinister and ghoulish Deputy Prime Minister (and simultaneous board member of Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum), is quite upfront about making these “emergency” powers permanent:

    https://twitter.com/inklessPW/status/1494752731441123328?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1494752731441123328%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.steynonline.com%2F12165%2Fthe-permanent-emergency

A quarter-century back, in my National Post days, the ironically named Ms “Freeland” was a fellow mediocre hack, first at The Financial Times, then at The Globe & Mail, albeit one prone to take a Fleet Street contrarian’s stand on things like Davos. She seems to have been so utterly transformed that I find myself staring in horror like Kevin McCarthy in Invasion of the Body Snatchers after realising that Dana Wynter took a twenty-minute nap.”

  4. So where the hell is the outcry? I see polls where 2/3 of Canadians are ok with this travesty. Enjoy the Dictatorship.

    1. Don’t be surprised to see people doing the Hitler salute to him because they have referenced it so many times as to what he figures our Canadian population is.
He’s now officially a Dictator and people will be treating as such.

      1. “Winter on Fire”, a netflix doc I watched last night. The Orange Revolution in the Ukraine. Frightening what a corrupt gov. can and did to their people. Watch this and think about what may be upcoming to this poor nation from the Russians, and doubtful, but possible to us.

    2. Allow me to echo very old white guy and say that it is because two thirds of Canadians are too fucking stupid to understand what has happened.

      1. Boo
And some post in here who are that FUCKING stupid.
If I were to recommend trolls to post in here to discredit SDA and conservatism, I would recommend TWAT (that awful truth) who keeps praising Poohteen. The vary character who used to be KJB, the very org the USSR used to kill and imprison Jews, and that fool claims to be Jewish.
The other one would be the COLON, who keeps denigrating cops, why would cops act against their masters (politicians) if the alternative is cop hating cucks?
And then there is Kate , and her likes , who give assholes like that a voice.

        1. “And then there is Kate , and her likes , who give assholes like that a voice.”
Got yer old call sign back?
          You hearing voices?
Or just afraid of hearing other peoples voices, with opinions that differ?
          You could be a Liberal.

        2. Oh please. Cut off all views that don’t coincide with yours? Let us wade through the BS and think for ourselves Juthtin. If you don’t like this site, you don’t even need to look for the door.

      1. Especially the online polls that have a panel of people who self select to answer the polls. They are worthless.

    3. Don’t believe the polls. They are being used to push public opinion, not reflect it. Same as the “news” is not about reporting What Is…it is now reporting What You Should Believe.
Polls are like poles. The kind that dogs pee on.

      1. Thanks.
From now on it’s much easier to understand that they’re full of shit and governments propaganda.
        Poles, eh?
        Gotta take a leak.

    4. Where the hell is the condemnation from Biden? Ukraine is thousands of miles away across an ocean. Canada is next door. He, or his handlers, are instead taking notes.

    5. Are you sure those numbers are correct? How was the question worded? Who took the pill? Who owns the pollster?

  5. That language in the Emergency Measures Act is why anyone claiming the “Brianne” story is fake news should wait for the details to come out. It is completely possible that a financial institution took those words to heart and froze her account and since I have seen the RCMP emails that include all of the “designated persons” I can also say that the RCMP has not yet provided a mechanism to unfreeze assets so if Brianne’s accounts are frozen she is quite simply fucked. Presumably she could appeal her case up to some EVPs or the C-suite but that would take some time. I would also add that as of noon yesterday the RCMP indicated in an email that all illegal activities had ceased, I will leave it to the reader to decide what that means for the political theatre that took place in the Commons yesterday evening.

  6. Remember
Peace, order, and good government are subjective to those in power and was used as a counter argument to those natural rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Sounding like a broken record here.

The establishment of the government on this part of North America was not created to preserve a nation, it was to preserve a government. But as we are witnessing, it cannot be sustained.

    1. If there is a reason to pull down a John A MacDonald statue. It is for his shortsightedness and antiAmerican sentiments. He should have realised that doing the opposite of what the Americans did would ultimately lead to the shit show we have now.

    2. I am concerned tgst Canadians may value Peace and Order over Good Government. There are times when you can’t have both and this is one of them. Canadians favour peace at all costs– balking even at the minimal disorder caused by the Trucker’s peaceful protest.

  7. It would be a shame if these started showing up on ATMs.

    https://ibb.co/RDQxqtC

If you’re “represented” by one of the traitors, consider papering over the name on the constituency office door/window with “Vidkun Quisling”.

  8. Chrystia Donaldovna never saw a man she didn’t like, as long as he was willing to sell Jews and Russians into slavery.

She hates Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, partly because she considers him, like all Greater Russians, a sub-human “Siberian Mongol” wanting a lungful of rat poison, but mostly because he is willing to show her and her bloodsucker friends what happens when you rape the mother of a real man.

Putin, again, is not a single mother whose bank accounts Chrystia can freeze at the drop of a hat. He owes the globalists nothing but the contempt they are owed by all men of good will.

Putin is the leader of a great nation able, and willing, to reduce the financial capitals of the west to radioactive ash if that’s what it takes to force the globalists to acknowledge the Russian people’s right not only to exist but to prosper in their own country.

Was Chrystia triggered because her favorite designer bubble tea shop closed for a few weeks on account of a few truckers who just wanted a fair hearing? Then she won’t like Putin’s approach to urban renewal in downtown Ottawa and Toronto.

Chrystia thinks that doing for free speech in Canada means her problems are over. They are not. They are just beginning.

  9. This bish is DANGEROUS. Canada: do you realize how you would start a chain reaction setting the entire world FREE by stringing up Sparkle Potato and Pierogi Thighs side by side a la Mussolini?

    1. They deserve nothing less.
Pure Evil will get their Karma, one day.
I hope they suffer, just like all the Canadians that have suffered and died under the Imbecile Gropenfurher!!

  10. Freeland is also mentioned in the book Red Notice. She seemed to be well connected to the Russian bureaucracy.

  11. Hag Freeland has happily gone to the dark side.
You can be sure that the Librano scum have been drinking toasts, excited, maybe even enraptured with their power-grab.
Think of how happy, Butts, Telford and the rest of the PMO must be right now.

Freeland truly does not understand that just because government lawyers say its all good, that the government security says they’ll protect you and dutifully kill Canadians, it doesn’t mean you’re 100% safe.

I’m certainly not advocating, but if you take away everything from some people then they logically have nothing to lose.
Look the fuck out, Hag, you might have helped unleash hell on yourself

  12. Putin is a two bit thug who is the godfather of the criminal syndicate that runs Russia. Like his fellow thug Xi of China, they are taking advantage of the fact that Western leaders are weak and useless. Western leaders are too busy persecuting their own people and promoting Woke bullshit.

  13. The evil information on the Vax is starting to come out now, you can see CDC and associated players scrambling for cover, if it is as bad as is likely, this will solve our Trudeau et al problem for us, no way he skates on that, his biggest supporters are the ones who fell for the con, they will be out for blood.

Dr. Malone had the money quote today, “this is the time for choosing, you can either be a witness or a defendant”.
